There’s a fun fan theory that comes almost entirely from Tyrion 3. When Tyrion and Varys were walking through the secret tunnel, Varys says that the tunnel was constructed for another Hand of the King, “whose honor would not allow him to enter such a house openly.” The room that Tyrion enters the tunnel from, is decorated with yellow and red glass panes, and gilded lanterns with scarlet glass. Could that tunnel have been constructed for Tywin during his time as Hand? The man obsessed with his public appearance, who shames Tyrion endlessly for his “whoring”, would want to be secretive about his affairs. And it’s a nice juxtaposition between Tywin and Tyrion. Tyrion using the tunnel to escape unwanted eyes so he can visit the woman he’s in love with, compared to Tywin entering from the other direction, hiding his affairs from the public. And lastly there’s a young woman working in Chataya’s. Marei, described as pale with green eyes and silver gold hair. Tywins bastard possible? Not really a theory relevant to the plot, but adds some fun possibilities to Tywin’s character.

Just sending some praise your way, you are still doing excellent with these vlogs and great commentary, hope the new schedule makes it easier for you

Sansa is 12 at this point in the story, the Hound is in his late 20s and Jorah is in his 40s. Sandor Clegane is much younger in the books than what the show would have you believe based on the casting.

Personally, I 100% subscribe to this theory! I view Tywin and Tyrion as two sides of the same coin. Tywin hates Tyrion for a lot of unjustified reasons but a big one is how brazenly Tyrion flaunts the things Twyin is ashamed of about himself. I'm very convinced he has at least a few baseborn kids that he's either unaware of or willfully blind to.

I hope that one day you'll get to read the world of ice and fire! The bits of lore on far Essos and Southryos are so much fun because they aren't very prominent in the main story and canonically even the maesters don't know much about them so George gets to have a lot of fun making them mysterious and get into his Lovecraftian vibe. I won't spoil the more interesting ones but I thought about it when you mentioned the Summer Isles and different cultures. There's a place east of Qarth where only women are allowed to be warriors because they believe only those who bring life have the right to take life away. I always thought that line was hard af and it would be so cool to meet somebody from there in a future story.

AHHH SORRY TO DOUBLE COMMENT but I am so excited that the Manderlys are here! They were in the show, but barely. The Manderlys are one of the coolest northern houses, they were originally from the reach and had to flee North wayyy back in the day. The Starks basically took them in and showed respect for their southern customs (and gods, they're the only Northern house to worship the seven) and helped to shelter and defend them from their enemies and in return hundreds of years later they are still the most ride or die house for the Starks. They are so cool.

Marc van de Klashorst

I think it is relevant to the plot, because it's foreshadowing for the Tywin/Shae situation later.

Avery

I think Varys a faceless man for sure

My_Cousin_Mose

I cannot stop reading in the middle of a chapter and I absolutely hate long chapters. After 50 pages its not a chapter you've wrote a freaking novella.

My_Cousin_Mose

I never got that vibe before but now I'm not so sure. It's definitely possible.

My_Cousin_Mose

Yeah House Manderly's contribution to the story was sadly nonexistent in the show.

Deke_HFX

She owns it.

Kemi Stanton

Oh awesome!! I really hope she enjoys it then

Tylor

Ohhhh this is when things start getting good. Things start diverging from the show like CRAZY so a lot of what you’re reading is going to be new and I’m so excited to see how you react to things lol. You had the same pause I did when I read reek like.. what? 😂

Arkeves

Keep in mind that POV chapters are biased, and tyrion is not as smart as he thinks he is
