Licha supports the one true king 💪💪💪

I'm not sure Cat would make a very good ruler. Right now she's offering good advice but in book 1 her kidnapping Tyrion made an enormous mess of things. Plus she is absolutely awful to Jon. Speaking of Cat- I haven't seen Trevor in so long I hope he's doing well!

I wish they hadn't cut all the stuff with Ser Dontos in the show. In the show I question if he really cared for Sansa at all because of the gold he was getting. But even if he's getting paid in the books it is clear that he still cares for her.

As do all true and loyal people of the realm.

The book does a really good job at showing how and why Renly would be a terrible king. In the show, they lessen his stupidity.

Your god theories aren't that crazy but instead of seeing characters "as the gods" its more like they fit the archetype's of the gods which I do think is intentional by the author. So Arya isn't the god of death but fits the archetype of the Stranger similar to the characters Cat saw as the Warrior.

Renly Baratheon, the David Cameron of Westeros. "Why do you want to be king?" "Because I think I might be quite good at it."

I personally really like your god theories!! Don't let the handfuls of doubters get you down, there's some stuff in there that I think is really good, especially as we get further into these characters stories! Let her cook y'all omgggg

OMG GIRL YOU'VE NEVER HAD MULLED WINE! It's SO good on a cold night I stg! You just put a sweet red in a sauce pan and simmer it on a LOW heat (too much heat will burn the alcohol right out of it!) for about 30 minutes and crumble in cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg! I sometimes add a touch of cider if I have it and the wine I'm using is too dry/tart. Seriously it's very Christmasy and just warms you right up from the inside. George knew what he was talking about when having them make it North of the wall!

Gasp! No intro and recap? I feel cheated! Interesting immediate leap to “Uncle Benjen must be with the Children of the Forest!” I can’t help but wonder if this is unintentionally theorizing back from things that happened in the show. (By which I mean, do we have any actual evidence for the Children surviving so far in the books, other than Osha and the Reeds promising that they're still around, really?)

There are a couple of good recipes in A Feast of Ice and Fire.

I live for these vlogs! Really looking forward for Harrenhall and Winterfell's storylines to unfold

The mention of the war horn made me remember that the show casually just forgot about things.

I do agree that the conflict between Renly and Stannis is not very clever. But Stannis is also a big coward. Stannis fled like a coward from Kings Landing. Ned send messages to Stannis asking him to tell him what was going on, he ignored Ned's messages. He rather waited around safely on Dragonstone. In the middle ages if you were not there to be crowned as the King then it was your loss. Some good examples of this in England is what happened between King Rufus, King Henry I, King Stephen and Empress Matilda. If you want to be the King you have to be there and you have to be able to defend your claim. Stannis took the easy way out and he expected other people to fight for his claim. He could have gone back to King Landing with a few men, and he could have spoken to Ned. From our first introduction we learn that Stannis acted like a coward. From this perspective looking at history he will be never be the King. And his use of black magic is a continuation of that theme.

Oh, I guess I did get access to the ACOK vlogs after all! 😆 When I'd first subscribed, it said I needed a higher tier. Just wanted to say, I've listening to these vlogs during my own reread of the book, it's been great to get a second opinion. :)
