I always liked the idea that Jon’s true name could be Jaehaerys, after Jaehaerys “the conciliator”. Jaehaerys is famous for uniting the realm in different ways, and Jon is doing something similar with the freefolk. Plus I can picture Ned being like, “Jaehaerys… right, sure…. How about we go with Jon until things blow over..”.

Jon’s real name could definitely still be Aegon, although I personally believe that it will be Aemon. By the time Lyanna gives birth to Jon, Aegon would have already died in Kings Landing. Lyanna might have named her child Aegon in honour of Rhaegar. Plus, the Targaryens love repeating names. Rhaenyra has a son called Aegon, and another called Viserys while both Aegon and her father are still alive. But I guess we’ll have to wait for the books to finish to find out 😓

My personal guess for Jon's name is Aemon, just because there's that moment in the first book, after Jon finds out who Maester Aemon is, when he stalks off being emo and thinks "Well, I am not Aemon Targaryen." Which is just too good of a joke for it not to be his name, at least when that book was written,

Okay I hold canon that Lyanna never had the chance to tell Ned the name she chose, so his name really is just Jon, but this is so freaking funny to me that I kinda love Aemon now It's also a VERY George coded joke

I find Cersei's comment on love so interesting, because to ME, I don't consider her relationship with Jamie in the books to actually BE love. They played the relationship up in the show a lot, but in the books it comes off HEAVY like an abuser/victim dynamic. Jamie seems to love Cersei, but Cersei seems to love that Jamie is somebody she can control (and a "male version of herself" which is a whole basket of issues around self image, insecurities ect). I'm a survivor of childhood grooming and abuse and the experience isn't universal by any means but I truly think it started somewhere not super malicious but perhaps a bit crooked, but as they got older she genuinely leaned into it in such a way that I would consider Jamie groomed by her. I'm super curious what you'll think about their dynamic in later books as things progress!

I don’t think it’s Aegon because even tho they like repeating names there have never been a time that they’ve named two siblings Aegon. Even when the babies died as a baby the name is not repeated in the family. Closest is Rhaenerya‘s son but that’s still not his brother it his Uncle With the same name. Never a sibling.

This is a super interesting take! I'll have to keep that in mind as I read more! So far I get only scraps of Jamie and Cersei and its all through Cersei's perspective but hopefully I'll get more soon! Not strange!! I use the Kindle Signature edition and i loveee it (its literally my best friend) But the Kindle paperwhites work really well too! (Honestly all of them are great, just depends if you want a larger one or smaller one! Mine is the larger one and the paperwhites are a little smaller!) You can get them on amazon or target! Target has some good deals on them sometimes! <33

I'm thankfully many decades removed from it now, very safe and lots of healing 💖 sometimes I worry bringing it up can make others a little uncomfy but if nothing else I have learned to see predator behaviour MILES off and I both see that in Cersei and in how Jamie thinks of/talks about her! But it's hard to say if George had this in mind when he was writing 🤔

I’m so glad you love Sansa, there are too many haters out there but she is out here living a horror movie On Jon’s name, I’ve always liked Aemon. Firstly because of his relationship with Maester Aemon, but also because in book 1, Jon says Aemon the Dragonknight was his favorite hero (and I want him to be a dragonknight that would be sick).

I don't really get the idea of Jon having an attitude in the show. He only has an attitude in the first 3 episodes. If anything book Jon has more attitude, but the difference is you are in his thoughts. Jon is an extremely introverted character. Almost everyone has more attitude than Jon, like Theon, Tyrion, Robb and Jaime ext.
