Hey y'all, Nick here with one last solo episode before Alex returns from Lake Tahoe. Went through some of the questions y'all asked last time i did this.

About halfway through i asked the following questions to anyone listening, feel free to answer below: 1) What thing currently takes up the most amount of time in your life right now?

2) What thing are you currently trying to change?

lmk, love

Thing taking up most of my time? Planting veggies and flowers, connecting with my community again, ditching technology as much as possible. Trying to change how I educate people on their food and clothes and what they can do to improve their lives while also improving mine. Im trying to be an example for other adults since I know I will never have children!

Omar G

unfortunately, the answer to 1 and 2 are the same: i keep fuckin wasting my time on my screens scrolling youtube or reddit or whatever instead of being productive. i just graduated college and ive spent a month doing fuck all during my gap year instead of working or studying for the lsat or even like playing a video game. shit sucks and therapy is too expensive im gonna go get off my ass and be productive today.

My time is taken up mostly by my job. I’m a plumber and I just got promoted to a service tech from a punch tech so I’ve been working longer hours. The thing that I’ve been trying to get better at is being more social.

1) I just graduated from grad school and got a short term data entry job and have been doing that to pay rent but it kinda sucks and I don’t wanna keep doing it. Really really don’t wanna fall into the trap of staying in it bc it’s easier to stay rather than look for new opportunities 2) Trying to change my career trajectory, I got my degrees in a specific subject and have found success in it, and yet I’m trying to do something new that dosent have to do with my degree. I’ve applied to hella jobs in a different continent which would be stupid lit if I got one 3) The most persistent thought is that I’m on my phone too much (ham sandwich)

Currently, the thing that takes up most time in my life is academics and related stuff. Right now I'm in the tail end of my undergrad for engineering, currently in Florida (hype) doing marine science research all summer. I gotta figure out if I wanna do grad school (leaning into it, I want to get more into marine science), where I might do that and if my partner and I can go to the same place for it, but it feels so daunting.. 2) I gotta get off the internet more.. it's so easy on a day off to wake up and do nothing while I watch shit online. There's so many projects I've been wanting to do forever, but I spend too much time doin jack shit

PetrifyingPest

Taking up my time: cooking at home, healthier, higher protein, and working on a full Master Chief cosplay (past halfway done thank god) Trying to change: lose weight/gain muscle, to look and feel my best, and to overthink less so I can actually do more

1) The past couple weeks the activity occupying the most time has been walking while listening to shows like M2AF and Pod about List, as well as music. Earlier this year, I spent an uncomfortable amount of time weekly watching videos and scrolling the internet with no goal other than to dissociate. Recently limiting myself to intentionally-curated auditory content has felt like a step towards recovering from phone addiction. (Using warm-light and grayscale filters on devices has also been helpful). 2) I am trying to resist the compulsion to focus on worrying about how to optimize and do things the "right way". I do not find perfectly optimized art very interesting, so I don't want to judge myself or anyone else by those standards either. 3) My thoughts have been frequently returning to the question of how I can actively be receptive to learning about myself, others, and the world in each situation I am.

1. Trying to learn double strokes on left foot for fast double bass, doesn’t help I’m right dominant, and I broke my foot a year ago so there’s still hills to climb. 2. The way I look at the world, I’ve been more negative and cynical when it comes to any current world events happening, imo need to change that.

chris hamrick

1) playing awesome video games like fallout new vegas for the millionth time and trying to reconnect with friends I've lost touch with over the year working a night job (pro tip don't do the nights at 20 if you like seeing human beings you care about) 2) straight up my gender, started estradiol 2 months ago and finally feeling more fulfilled than i ever have been and simultaneously feeling the pain of being transgender more than ever with both acknowledging and living it and the current political climate :(

Jonas Cady

Hmm I actually just bought a new truck—that’s what was taking up most of my time… just saving up. Now it’s just my job, really. I’m 22 yrs old and I feel like a ton of my life now is just working +40 hr weeks. First world problems, but that’s just how it goes rn. I want to start working out and getting into more extracurriculars. I feel like I don’t really get out much. That’s what I’m gonna focus on.

1. For me, I work as an NSFW artist, so I’m constantly trying to keep up with commission work, Patreon and learning/furthering my skills, which basically means I'm constantly drawing/painting, or thinking about drawing/painting. It can be fun to be paid to do art outside of the entertainment industry, but it can be a lot of work to stay afloat even with a relatively “large” audience. Dont believe the myths of NSFW art paying huge lmao 2. im really trying to change my attachment to cheap dopamine and scrolling mindlessly. The phone has become another appendage and it is draining. Especially when none of what I’m consuming affects my life positively. I feel like that is currently something that is holding me back from taking the next big steps in my career (and thus also being able to focus on my largely neglected social life)

CamLS

im a teacher so number one is planning and shit. number two is just striving to be a more complete version of me. in the way that i think will be lifetime persistent like a forever nagging sensation. being more creative; sharing more love; looking after myself better. so i just try to do what the heart wants in spite of the fear of not doing enough. number 3 is always just how can i improve tho

Zinjo

I spend all my time video editing (boring stuff for work) and I want to actually have free time so I can video edit (for fun) (and just have a life)

Tally McIntyre

Where am i at: ive recently moved in with my partner and its also moving out for the first time so its a huge new chapter. Takes up most time: easily just working a damn 9-5. Especially since moving i have have a commute that i didnt used to and trying to balance around that extra lost time has been a learning curve. Thing im most trying to change: probably how much i will commit to something in the hobby space. I think i jump between projects and single player games too much and i dont ever fully finish them Persistent thought: mostly thinking about how to rebalance my life in a post moving out era for me. Ive kinda been freezing up trying to work out how to set aside time for each thing of mine

Ivan

My job + school is taking up the biggest portion of my time right now which i hate because im not even passionate about being a pharmacy tech lmao. And im going to school for music business so its not even related. Besides spending time with people in my life, the rest of my time is spent on content creation and seriously trying to get that going (which sounds lame but it honestly is really fun learning the ins and outs of compelling editing for youtube + streaming is fun too). Which means my sleep schedule is fucked since i dont want to make my job or school an excuse to not do what im passionate about. The thing i want to change is my current job. I want to make enough money doing content creation to afford more days off of work to eventually quit and either do content creation full time or work in the space in some capacity. Im really proud of what I’ve made so far and i think its funny and entertaining, so im really determined to make this shit happen.

Malachi

The thing currently taking up most of my time is an internship that I just started. I’m about to start my senior year in college studying HR and psychology and I’m realizing I don’t fw HR as much as I thought I would. Although I think I will once I’m actually able to do shit cause I’m deadass at work just twiddling my thumbs. I’m currently trying to change my approach to playing music. I’ve been playing guitar for like 5 years and have plateaued the past two years. I’m getting into bass though and I want to practice with my musician friends to get better at playing live. I think both bass and playing with other people will make me want to play guitar more or at least I’ll have fun making music with my friends.

alex

Can you draw something of me and nick with our penises out but not doing anything gay

TMFD

Do you want them floppy or hard?

alex

Surprise me.

Q1: most raw time is taken up by working around my horrific shifting body clock. I go to sleep at a wildly different time every day and then have to plan everything around waking up at 2am vs 4pm vs 9pm Q2: I'm trying to read and write way more or at least consume media and actually think about it. I love reading and writing but my attention span is fried and I forget I like them until I do it for 20 minutes uninterrupted then I remember I love it Q3: My fat ass gotta stop drinking monster energy I gurgle down 500 calories of sweet nectar a day to fix the body clock that it also caused

kylemonster17

goat isnt in this one but the king of the skinnyfats holds it down

It’s a bit of a bummer atm tbh, I feel like there’s way too much change that needs to happen. What’s hard is I tend to isolate very heavily while I try to grow in order to “come back a better more achieved person” For the first question right now I work about 54-60 hours a week at a tech manufacturing facility and that consumes legit all my time and energy every week. Exhausting for sure For the second question I yearn to be more creative but I’m paralyzed by the anxiety of failing and the learning curve or being judged. I just wanna make cool art, music or make people laugh. I wanna share what I love w people who would fw it. It’s a hard barrier to overcome but I feel like I’d have a good personality for it and I have a list of ideas but I gotta start and stop making excuses.. Sorry for the novel lmfao

Toby C

1. Currently trying to gold stake every deck in balatro. That along with my dog, working out, and work take up most of my time 2. Just moved to a new city with practically no one I know in it so I’m trying to make friends Also shout out the girls night shirt. My normie friends love it

My damn job takes up most of my life, I work graveyard so I can get my writing done, and on that same note, I'm trying to do more irl things and be more social. It's hard. My writing is important but so is not going insane.

ethan

1. i think the biggest thing rn is i spend so much time doing shit that i like, but to answer the Therapy Gecko question i'm always worrying it's too much because i haven't really moved my life along in recent years and don't really feel like turning my main interests into a career. 2. the change i wanna make is to get better at drawing because i'm almost done with a graphic design degree and i'm still not great at it.

Based Mex

To answer number 1, I've spent most of my time working in a lab during grad school trying to finish writing out a thesis. It feels like it's completely consumed my life. What I'm trying to change is personal eating habits like eating healthier and cutting out junk food

Collette

thanks for the answer to my Q goat, i appreciate the insight

Pisz

1. Most of my time goes to working and commuting. I'm an archivist/cataloguer, so a lot of the progress and accomplishments I do at my job seem very flat in retrospect which leads to the answer to "what am I trying to change" -- 2. -- which is to actualize my creativity and overcome a complete lack of motivation. I have lots of ~ideas~ that range from small to large, but none are even written down. I dropped a music video project two years ago that's 85% done and I want to finish that before July's over. By exercising creativity, no matter how small, I believe I can get myself out of this rut. 3. What's on my mind the most: "How do I become proud of who I am?" followed by "damn i need more money to live".

Tumor

1) To be honest I think work & just scrolling and watching media is what takes up most of my time. It kinda sucks looking back at most of my days cause I know I should be locking in and doing something. 2) I’m actively trying to change my hobbies, I’ve always smoked weed and just played video games and I think I haven’t developed an actual hobby besides those things. I’ve been looking into getting a camera or a guitar, shit maybe even both since they both seem interesting to me and it’ll be something that could help build some creativity in my brain.

PutThatThingOn

1. Med school. In my 3rd year so I’m at the hospital 6am-6pm some days and it’s just brutal. It’s a seesaw of emotions where I really regret choosing this path and other days I’m so thankful to care for another person. 2. Trying to change my personal relationships, feel like I've lost touch with friends outside of grad school bc I rarely call/text/reach out. Also shout out to Alex for sharing that story about his brother either last episode or a couple back was heartwarming.

Holden Westberg

1. Work and procrastinating 2. Eliminating the procrastinating so I can finish my degree (self paced university), work on personal projects, and improve my physical stats

Caden

So for 1, my life is being consumed by just trying to get everything lined up to be able to move out of my parents. Trying to also make sure my spending habits is better so im not in any financial stress when shit hits the fan. But mainly trying to figure out what I want to do with my life. It's been a confusing 6 years since i've graduated and i still don't know what I want out of life. Just been working 4 days a week, 10 hour shifts on nights but don't have the motivation to try to learn anything or even livestream. So that leads into 2, im trying to change how I approach situations where I feel demotivated and want to do nothing but just rot. Like, my goals for the rest of the year is to just put my head down and actually grind to where I want to be mentally and physically. For example, actually learning a music program and trying to create stuff. anything and everything, doesn't matter if it is hot ass, at least I am trying stuff and learning along the way. Also want to actually loose weight and just feel better about myself in general. And actually sticking to it, cause I do not want to live the way I do now. Which isn't horrible but a lot of mental traps I get sucked into, whether it would be overthinking about a certain situation or just straight demoralizing myself. And actually start streaming more. Just for the fun of it, not even looking into making it a career or anything but just having fun with it. :)

Caden

dude guitar is legit so fun

Caden

sugar free versions are a damn cheat code tbh

Caden

listen man you have it in the bag, after meeting you in chud lan and getting to know you better. you definitely have it in the bag, just don't burn yourself out too easily man. you're genuinely one of the funniest people I know. And even tho i've been busy af, I try to catch a stream when I can man. I genuinely think its only a matter of time before you blow up and are able to make it full time, keep going. you are going to make it

Yooo mini melts are goated! I see them in Poland all the time

Reese J.

Good solo ep. 1) My wife and I are having our first kid in a week from today. The prep has been what’s consumed all of my time the last few weeks as I get my ass in gear 2) in the same vein, the biggest thing I’m trying to change is my overall mindset about parenthood. Just because my family had issues growing up does not mean I’m doomed from the start. The cycle can and will be broken, baby

peej2189

1. Work no doubt. 40 hours a week dedicated to working is hard. Next is gaming, easy way to fill time and chat with friends when they're on :) 2. Trying hard to drop another 20-25 lbs. 240 down to 218 so far. Running 7-12 miles a week and lifting 2-3x. Followed by trying to be a better fingerboarder ya dig.

carlos

I wish this could've been the gibli power hour

Ragatags

For 1, its definitely video games. Nothing new but I feel like I should be doing more if that makes sense? For 2, I want to find something I can do for a career. Im in college and extremely unfulfilled and haven't enjoyed it at all in the 2 years ive been. I feel super lost and like im gonna be stuck at a shitty minimum wage job my whole life. Im 20 as of now so I feel like if I dont get my shit together real soon im gonna screw myself up permanently. I just do not know what to do.

M2AF

I've been struggling with this as well, what helps me a lot is not trying to manage the behavior but instead managing the environment. Think about what environment you are in when you are at your worst. Phone in hand, laying down in your room, etc. Try to literally not be in that situation. Leave your phone in the other room, hangout in the living room more often. Think about what your environment looks like when you are most productive, and place yourself in that environment when thats what you want to be. It helps a lot.

M2AF

2 - I am proud of your journey, congrats

M2AF

What's the craziest thing you've seen on the job

M2AF

Idk if i will have kids either tbh. I've never been able to imagine my life happy with them. I'm softening on it a bit though....

M2AF

I straight up have no idea what you meant by ham sandwich here, i thought about it for at least 5 minutes

M2AF

Every artist you look up to has figured out that doing things the wrong way is the first step of making any progress. You must intentionally map in the wrong answers so that you can stop looking for the right ones, and instead correct the wrong ones with better ideas, which is much easier than materializing perfection out of thin air.

M2AF

I've been a filthy little drink guy recently too. lmk if you figure out a method. Not having it at home is a great start.

M2AF

Pick a hobby that also changes your environment if you can find one. It is so much easier to commit when you are not around the evils that beckon.

M2AF

Imagine this, your friend sends you something they wrote and they want your feedback. Imagine how easy it would be, to comb through it and pick out things you don't like. How easy it would be to create a massive list of things to improve, or things that felt out of place. Be the friend in this scenario, for yourself. Create the thing in the messiest way possible (easy). Deliver it to yourself, and then relish in how easy it is to comb through it and make it better. Suddenly you've made the entire process seamless. When you get stuck during the second part of this process, that is where your actual limits are. Push past them by studying material you like, or repeating step 1.

M2AF

You are funny bro. Don't get sucked into what works on YouTube. Just make things you feel are missing in the landscape, that you personally would want to watch. If its too hard to conceptualize what you think is missing, think of (one) friend that you really know how to make laugh and ((literally)) act like you are making something for them. This is called "writing for one person" and it's extremely busted. It may never pop, it might pop for a reason completely out of your control, but you can't bank on this. To study how youtube works is to steer yourself toward a version of success that ultimately you feel constrained by.

M2AF

I haven't run a mile on purpose in so long. I need to get on that bruh.

M2AF

Congrats bro thats awesome.

M2AF

I miss my 06 Tundra so much.

M2AF

I sucked at double bass. It made me think I wasn't cut out for drums. But really i was just a quitter who hadn't played melee yet

eggbuh

dude the fake dippin dots are all we have in canada, we don’t get the real thing

Christopher Healy

1. I spend most of my time at my job I would say, I work 40 hours a week at a job where I would like to move up the traditional way and have a normal mundane ass work life. 2. I genuinely want to get so good at doing gundam model kits to where I can feel comfortable taking and doing commissions to generate a little money on the side but still have fun painting model kits. 3. The constant thought that eats at me everyday is that I am not doing enough and I can always be doing more. I compare myself to my peers far too often and let it get to me. 4. Fairlife chocolate milk
