Mr Bunny

Strongly recommend watching Star Wars Rebels before watching/rewatching Mandalorian (and definitely before watching the Ahsoka show).

Soopa

Agreed, one thousand percent. Clone Wars - Bad Batch - Rebels - Ahsoka. That is the chronological order.

Yes there are multiple domed cities on Mandalore. Its to highlight how much continuous war over the centuries, and infighting, has left the planet's surface uninhabitable. This plays into the tension between Satine's pacifict society she's been trying to build, and Viszla and co's desire to restore Mandalore to its warrior past. Yeah you said it, Palpatine is a genius, and he doesn't want Mandalore being a threat to him down the line, with all the influence it has on thousands of worlds. So they are pushing an pulling at Satine from all sides, trying to break her and her ideals, in order to control Mandalore. Death Watch don't see it that way, and think they will be in charge if this succeeds; but they are the ones being naive here, as they are getting played too by the Sith. What this episode highlights, is just how nefarious the Republic is becoming. When we are with Ahsoka, Anakin, Obi-Wan, and the other Jedi, winning their battles, against the "evil" Separatists; we get lost in the moment and cheer them on, then remember what the Republic itself will become, and that Palpatine and his lackey's are getting their claws into everything, in order for him to eventually assume "unlimited powa!!!!". Clone Wars fleshes this out better than the movies. "Obi-Wan I need your help..." - nice callback. And our finest Jedi, always answers. However, we can see how blinded he is in believing that the Republic is still the same entity he and the Jedi Order, serve. We see at the end of the episode however, him begin to question some things, even if he will remain loyal until the Republic falls. The jetpack makes the same sound we hear in Attack of the Clones with Jango as he killed the shapeshifter, also on Coruscant. It will be the same sound clip, especially since David Acord and Matthew Wood, who do the sound design and effects from the films, work on these shows too (Wood also voices the battle droids and Grievous). Yeah rewatch the Mandalorian on the channel, I highly recommend it, though I would suggest finishing the animations first before it.

Rebels before Bad Batch though, even if chronologically its out of sync; for a number of good reasons I don't want to go into right now as it starts getting into spoiler territory. Also Mando should be the first live series to revisit, even if Teegan has seen parts of it.

Eric Wallace

Finish rebels before mandalorian rewatch

Eric Wallace

God, season 5 is so far away lol

Trent

Can't forget the Maul show

Wakandan King D

One of the best well rounded arcs in the series (diplomacy, action, drama, love, comedy etc…). Glad you loved it just as much

Jerick E

Same, I think parts of this episode gets overshadowed by the last episode. There's something just so cathartic about recognizing Obi's vulnerabilities and 'what-if' attachments to Satine.

If you don’t mind old games I highly recommend Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic 1&2. The first game takes place right after the Mandalorian-Jedi war. Roughly 4000 years before the Galactic Civil War. While Disney removed them from cannon I still think there are many aspects of them that are relevant. Plus I and many others don’t really care what Disney says about cannon lol. Anyway they are some of my favorite games of all time I grew up playing them. Just thought I’d mention them since a lot of people haven’t played them especially if they are new to the Star Wars universe.

Its not Disney though, its Lucasfilm, the same people that have been doing Star Wars for 50 years. They wanted to freshen it all up, once Disney took over, and get rid of the rubbish from the EU, like Grey Jedi, Yuuzhan Vong and Vaapad; whilst still picking and chosing some of the better stuff from it, which we do get in Star Wars now (something we'll see in season 3 was straight out of the EU, thats become commonplace now in the lore). It was for the better that they wiped a lot of it out to start again. Even when Lucas was in charge, like here in TCW, he did exactly the same thing and considered the EU fanfics, even the official books and comics published at the time. Filoni and co are only doing the same now. KOTOR 1 and 2 are great though, along with Dark Forces II and Galaxies, these were some of my fave ever SW games.

Commander Cody

I don't want to get it twisted I don't think all EU stuff was good and it's probably good that they took an official stance regarding many of the EU developments I just think they overcorrected in some areas.

Ziro the Hutt

Yeah that's a fair point, I can see that. I just think it allows for some fresh stories told either in a better way, or a new way that could be gotten from the EU.

Fun fact: When those two clones ask that Alien if he has seen Satine, he answers in his native Language: "Yeah, i just saw her!" But the clones dont understand him and walk away :D
