OH MY GOD THE RAT EPISODE I FORGOT ABOUT THE RAT EPISODE.

Icy101yt

I have deep conflicting emotions about the rat episode.

Caroline Medhurst Jackson

Why do you think Joseph dident use hamon to keep himself young so he could actually fight in part 4 ? And also how did the guy that killed dio almost die ti a FUCKING RAT ????

Wonder Of You

Jotaro beating dio strongly but struggling with a rat will never not be funny to me lol

Critical

Jotaro, the man who can stop time, beaten by a rat. Twice. Powerscalers would have a field day with this show.

steely dan

BTW yeah this episode had a different animation director iirc, so it might seem more high quality than the others in the part. also "Ball shaped things give me weird thoughts" ToT

Gyro_GoGo_Zeppeli

This episode really cements the role of Jotaro as more of a mentor, which I think is better for his character. He puts his detective skills to use (did you know he likes Columbo? lol) and acts more as a teacher to the gang, teaching Josuke to make up for their short Stand range by learning to use items as bullets.

Hardcase

I absolutely love Jotaro and Josukes dynamic in this episode, it like a big brother/little brother relationship. Honestly this is one of my favorite episodes

Quinten

Really like how vulnerable josuke feels compared to the rest of the cast since he can't heal himself. Even here jotaro trusts him enough to get hit by the needles on purpose to test the effects, but when josuke gets injured there's no way to heal and it makes the stakes so much higher for him

rangga

There is 1 youtube video said that this episode was outsourced to 1 animator

ZamNoExam

This episode probably one of the most tense as these rats do not have that sense of human morality but have that survivalist top of the food chain mentality to take out all that may be a threat or further threat. Yeah Akira is a straight freak for testing on rats and yes you are right the previous stands were made as a result of Keicho, these are the first we have seen being made by Akira. Glad those old folks were still alive and great dynamics between our fellow JoJo's and because of that tense nature they were able to bond more and one of them have more resolve to do what must be done. Also Jotaro's education coming in clutch we love an educated 🐐. Great analyzes as usual, all the best and excited for the next. YIPPPEEEE YAY

ZamNoExam

Ooh what sort of conflicting emotions do you have? Do tell if you want to

Brie&Apples

Thats what people like so much about this show, no matter how much stronger someone is in pure power there will always be something that can being them down. Like there was no reason for Kars and Dio to lose their fights besides their ego and gambling.

Icy101yt

its good to see jotaro and josukes bond, but i cannot deal with rodents they make me wanna stand on my chair in fear and scream

hello there

Debut of my favorite Jotaro fit, his best one in the series imo. Animal stand users really are some of the most dangerous, because you never know how they think unlike humans who are likely more predictable. Just imagine how smarter Iggy would be if he lived past Part 3. W reaction as always!

Something a lot of people glance over is the fact that Jotaro is a professional marine biologist. Whether in his field or not, animal behaviour is something this man has studied enough to earn a career in the field. Man has read books about animal behaviour and besides he's as serious as he used to be in his prime.

rangga

8:54 Part 8 Reference Diamond excels under pressure The rats can be seen in the new opening as well if you pay attention Also, do you notice Jotaro has a different outfit throughout Part 4? His overall colour is white, but it's still distinct. He is a marine biologist, so he knew one thing or two about animals.

rangga

Really impressive when we compared this episode to the current new anime with the not so good timeline and situation nowadays i.e. One Punch Man Season 3 or Blue Lock Season 2, just saying

simba bimba

I believe this whole episode was animated by only one guy

ZombieKi11er

In the dub Josuke says “Hunting hotties with hot bodies” at least he has his priorities ig 😂. I love the dynamics in this part fr, as much as I love the previous parts this one exceeds the rest of them. Also side note, but yesterday was my first attempt at combing my hair like Josukes, which kinda failed but I’m gonna try again another day…

ArFanik

fun and dark episode at the same time. Love the uncle-nephew dynamic, despite the ages not matching up lol. Seeing Jotaro locked in again was nice, his experience and cold-blooded nature really shines when going against such a deadly foe. Most characters would have a lot of trouble against those rats because they act on impulse and instinct, although they seemed to possess a fighting spirit and a wisdom rats usually don't have in this case. Jotaro is the perfect character to fight these animal stand masters because of his knowledge too, call back to that orangutan stand master he ego checked

ArFanik

Yeah, lots of people say Jotaro was losing to a rat, when in fact, it's clear he wanted to take this opportunity to show Josuke a real life or death situation where he is to be relied on. The rat was clever too, let's be honest, Jotaro had not seen the ricochet usage coming, but he wouldn't have put himself out there if he wasn't trying to teach Josuke something about performing under pressure

God having to remember Strength again makes me feel sick 🤢🤢

Otaku Steph

I sometimes get JoJo’s dub clips on my YouTube shorts feed and makes me wanna rewatch it just in dubbed HAHA. OOOO good luck, Zombie!! 🪮🪮🔥

Otaku Steph

No WAY! What an insanely talented individual wtf

Otaku Steph

Yee I noticed the little dolphin pin - deffo makes sense with his profession!! :)) what a fashionable lad

Otaku Steph

Ooo that is a good point - completely forgot about his profession haha. He’s clearly v passionate about his job too, so was really nice learning some facts about rats!

Otaku Steph

NOOO HELLO THERE NOW IM THINKING ABOUT IGGY 🥺🥺💔

Otaku Steph

Perfectly put! Here’s hoping we don’t come across more animal Stands 👀👀 YIIPPPIEE

Kyoya Ootori

This is why power scaling is stupid. Jotaro > DIO & Bug-Eaten > Jotaro /ergo DIO < Bug-Eaten

astralman

Araki did say something about Josuke's hero. The reason his name isn't given and his face isn't shown is because in terms of the message, those details don't matter. It's meant to convey that anyone can be somebody's hero with a single act of kindness. When I first saw this episode it was my favorite of the part up to that point, from the dynamics and getting to see both of them show what they can do. It still has a special place in my heart though.

Another one that prople consider "filler episode" This is like one of my top 3 episodes on part 4 I love the animation. Seeing Jotaro and Josuke working together. Their different personalities and abilities working together. For me it's very clear that Jotaro did all this with Josuke with the purpose of "training" him. He could 100% have got the rats on his own. I personally feel that because of his past, he knows how being unprepared can mess someone in this world of stands and lunatics. He was 17 in part 3 and fs all that messed with him for life. He lost loved ones for not being carefull enough. And he's noy willing to have that happening again. I also love how socially awkward Jotaro still is. Saying "no pressure" while being the most pressuring mf on town. Or looking mad after Josuke refused to help but being actually okay with it lol.

astralman

Just remembered something. I don't know if anyone already told you about the meaning behind the naming of Josuke's Crazy Diamond, if you've heard it I won't bother you with it. Part 4 is where Araki starts to actually put some thought into what music references he uses, and it kind of becomes a form metatext. I'm not sure if the anime showed the rats' stand page, but I think it was shown in the manga. The rats' stand is called "RATT" after a hair metal band. RATT's most well known song is "Round and Round", which contains the lyric "you shot an arrow through my heart".

okuyasu is a genius

Something I really love that isn't talked about here too much is the remixed version of Jotaro's theme as background music for whenever he's on screen. In a symbolic sense, the remix mirrors his growth as a young adult, no longer wild and the central focus of the show, but still the same old Jotaro we know and love. I also love how it's titled "The Stardust Man Appears", he still carries on the spirit of the Stardust Crusaders even in his theme, it's so cool.
