"Oh Doppio, watashi no kawaii Doppio..." We finally enter the enigma that is Doppio! And yes, he was the voice who called upon Squalo and the Elite Guards to hunt down the traitors at the end of Episode 21. Because what's the best way to have a second-in-command who you can trust to keep your secrets better than yourself who doesn't know anything and acts like a complete other person? :) The first peak of Part 5 is the Grateful Dead/Beach Boy fight, the higher peak is Metallica vs. King Crimson! Risotto, my beloved! My favorite bad guy in Part 5, I wanna say he's probably my favorite guy in Part 5 outside of Bruno, and arguably one of the best fights in Part 5! THE FACT THAT HE WAS SO CLOSE TO ENDING THE BOSS BEFORE AEROSMITH, LIKE A FEW SECONDS CLOSE

The metallica fight has to be my favorite in the series, (at least of the ones animated so far) just seeing the way Risotto uses his power to the fullest is such a treat.

I really like this fight, but it just made me remember how much I hate the fact that the different crews in passione do not talk together AT ALL, risotto could have gone out of his way and talk to bruno and the team to help them, but he didnt and got alone in the fight, that's a bit sad :') On another note, really love part 4 and 5 for the firsts big music references that I understood when I first started jojo, having "metallica" fight agaisnt "aerosmith" and just before that we viewed Notorious BIG and Spice Girls, that's incredible ahah

Risotto is so peak and also proves why the hitman team is the best villain group from all jojos. i also really like risotto jester's type of outfit, considering he is fighting king crimson (the boss stand) you can read it as a jester rebelling against his king which is basically what the hitman team was trying to do against the boss.

Doppio vs Risotto is one of my fav fight scene of the series (the animation fluidity is insane, the way he spined that scalpel). Narancia's rank has gone down by 1 on my fav jojo characters list, just because he killed my fav character of this part.

King Crimson vs Metallica is definitely my favorite fight so far of the whole series and it's pure Joseph vs Wamuu energy. Metallica and La Squadra Esecuzioni are so goated as villains for me, maybe second only to someone from part 7, a certain sort of scary monster... I used to not really get The Boss and I didn't like him that much until I thought more on his backstory. Once you accept that he's pathologically anonymous to the point of it being an additional disorder on top of his split personalities you start to better understand the implications of his backstory. Because it could mean he's erased so much of his past that this is basically the only story people could possibly make of it, or he's a demon(maybe not literally but there's definitely something wrong with this man). Anyway can't wait to see what you think about the next episode 🚌

Bipolar disorder is often confused with Dissociative Identity Disorder, a person with bipolar doesn't have multiple personalities so this would be more like Fugo. The boss is definitely a clear example of DID and is more common than you would think! Many people with this disorder usually have upwards of 10 different personalities, tho it does depend on the person. It's caused by a severe reaction to trauma in childhood when the brain tries to protect the host from pain thus creating multiple personalities that aren't traumatised . It could be seen as quite a natural reaction to trauma. In this case, the boss's birth sounds very supernatural, maybe hinting towards how this disorder can be quite supernatural. I'm not sure what the traumatic event for the boss was, maybe it was being born in a prison and taken from his mother

thank you so much! now that i’ve finished this upload, i can say with certainty that this is one of my favorite reactions of yours to date ^^ i knew these episodes wouldn’t disappoint, and i loved seeing your excitement🙌 it’s always so sweet to watch fellow female jojo watchers get excited when a female character is given a stand🥹 trish is such a cool character, and her growth is so admirable. she is so strong in so many ways! and, of course, we have the introduction of doppio. wow oh wow, he is such an intriguing and complex character. he is also very odd, as you openly expressed😅 i’m excited for you to get to know him and the boss more! then there’s risotto :( such a unique character, he never fails to get me hype! i really like how after sorbet and gelato die, his motives toward the boss shift. it’s nice to see how even the ‘enemy’ team cares for eachother. metal man will be greatly missed! such a great few reactions steph!! your puns in this one were on fire ;) i hope you’re staying warm, and i am looking forward to the next episodes <3

I looove the Metallica fight so much-- the animation for it is also just so well done, I especially love the part when Doppio's hair fringe bit flaps up when he's holding his neck, showing Epitaph forming on his forehead. So crisp. Risotto's demise is so sad, and even makes the previous fights feel bittersweet cause we discover how much Rissotto cared for his team.. and now theyre all dead < / 3 even though a lot of them were scummy lmao Also, I never clocked how good Spice Girl's stats are? A in power and speed-- that's like Joestar level sort of stats, which makes sense cause her father's stand is very powerful also, but wow! I find the Boss and Doppio's relationship, or situation, very interesting. I believe they're supposed to have DID, which is not well understood so very mysterious! But like in the Boss' flashback with Donatella (Trish's mum) he as the same demeanour as Doppio, being shy and loving frogs haha, so I wonder if that was Doppio or the Boss? I think the general consensus is that the Doppio personality was formed to protect himself from his trauma, and to essentially hide behind, which is kind of the whole point of the actual disorder. I think upon first glance it seems like Doppio is the cowardly one, but really it's the Boss who fears exposure to the extreme, to the point where he uses aliases all his life and tries to kill his own daughter. I can't help but find Doppio super cute tho aww, I love his turururururu and moshi moshis

Marco Polo is the name of a famous explorer from Venezia. Italy, who traversed the Northern landmass across Europe and. through Asia along the Silk Road into Japan between 1271 and 1295. His writings taught Europe a lot about Asian culture and shaped history from that point onward. . The ability is inspired by Notorious B.I.G.'s post-humous album "Life After Death", which ended up being his best selling album and making him far more famous after his death. . It was stated when Trish was introduced that her mother died of an illness. The Boss didn't worry about her, since she was left with no information or evidence to find him. . . If you'll remember, Polpo was in charge of Naples, and all the gambling. Bruno and his group worked for him as his enforcers. Risotto was the full leader of the hitman squad. . Risotto would also blame the boss for his entire squad being killed by Bruno's group under the boss's orders. Risotto has some backstory given in the manga. Basically his cousin, who he was close with, was killed by a drunk driver. So, Risotto hunted down and killed the driver. He soon joined the military to hone his ability, but he ended up feeling empty, with only the drive and ability to kill. This got the attention of the newly formed Passione, who needed hitmen to enforce their will. The formation of the hitmen team was deeply personal to Risotto, and the only thing he felt anything about. He basically is meant to be the dark version of Bruno, one who couldn't have been redeemed by Giorno like Bruno was. . "Epitaph", the sub-stand of King Crimson that let's him see ten seconds into the future, takes it's name from a King Crimson song. . I can now tell you now that the boss's character is partly inspired by the King Crimson song "21st Century Schizoid Man", which inspired the split personality, and also why this part takes place in 2001. . His birth scene is inspired by the film "Rosemary's Baby", in which a woman gives birth to the devil's child. Basically like a dark reflection of the immaculate conception of Jesus.

this rewatch made me realize that Giorno not being able to use GE because he lost his arms is kinda a plot hole since in his fight against Black Sabbath in the early eps he used his feet to reach the tree roots and make the tree wither away

True Giorno doesn’t directly say it but it’s definitely implied during the scene when he removes his arm when Bucciaratti says how is he gonna heal with no arms and Giorno replies with “there’s no time he’s moving up my arm” . Plus Araki wouldn’t have made the characters say that for no reason. The plot hole doesn’t ruin the experience or story for me but to say that it’s not there is just kinda wrong.
