Even now I'm not sure if I've put it in the right place LOOOOL.

Let me know where your tier list sits/what you'd move around! Would love to hear your thoughts on Part 5 and if you agreed/disagreed with certain points :))

This tier will be [Menacing] sis🤭 Check out mine: 6. Phantom Blood—I’m including it here just because it’s the shortest, and I feel like it could have been developed much better, both in terms of the supporting characters and the conflict between Dio and Jonathan. Still, it’s an 8/10 for me 5. Battle Tendency—I feel like it falls short in many ways, especially when it comes to the main villain and Joseph’s motivations. Like Phantom Blood, an 8/10 4. Stardust Crusaders—this is where I get into the ones I love the most: the journey, the group, the adventure, the first part with the Stands. The final showdown between Jotaro Kujo and Dio is anime history. Stardust is ranked here because, even though it’s great, the plot of the subsequent parts is wonderful—for me, an 8.5/10 3. Vento Aureo, just like Stardust Crusaders, is amazing, and the final stretch is a work of art. I love the message of determination, and the concept of the "sleeping slaves" really enriches the story. Plus, it features the love of my life, my Bruno Bucciarati. A 9/10 2. Diamond Is Unbreakable: the quiet, endearing, yet mysterious town of Morioh; the fun and madness of the cases involving Angelo and Otoishi; and the darkness of Kira Yoshikage’s town, pitted against the golden hearts of Morioh’s guardians—it stays with you forever. A 9.5/10 1. Stone Ocean—what more can I say about this part that brings the series to a close? Though bittersweet for us, it’s a very happy ending for our beloved Joestar family. Jolyne is perfect; her group and the dynamics we see from Green Dolphin Street to Cape Canaveral are wonderful and leave a deep, lasting impression. It’s a marvelous world. 9.8/10 for me

I started reading JoJo after catching up to the anime when part 4 anime came out in 2016 or something, and part 5 was my favorite part until p7 took that place. I still remember the insane hype when the anime got announced after years of "we will never get part 5 anime " memes, and Bruno still is my favorite character in all of Jojo. I actually liked how disconnected it was to the "Joestar" plotline, as it was fresh to have a small scale side quest outside of Jotaro & company vs enemies of the bloodline, but these are the 3 things that made me like p5 over other parts: 1. The characters. By far my favorite jojo squad, the banter and feeling of a gang of misfit idiots adopted by Bruno fighting to protect the society that casted them out on the streets felt so poetic and ironic. Giorno was very interesting in the beginning with lots of potential but kinda took the backseat, but I honestly don't mind side characters outshining him since they were just that good. Also the villains had a goal of their own instead of just being servants of the main villain. Also the Doppio storyline was so gnarly and cool. 2. The plot progression. I feel like Araki peaked with dynamic plot writing here, because p3,4 and 6 suffered from mid-story fatigue where it felt like fight enemy and repeat got a bit stale and they only kicked into high gear at the last stretch when the main villain got active, but I love how part 5 had a dynamically moving plot. Comparing with p3, which set the goal of beating Dio at episode 1 and then it was a repeat of beating evil Dio's minions for 30 episodes until reaching Dio, p5 kept the goal moving. It went from Giorno wanting to infiltrate Passione to having to protect Trish to betraying the boss to identifying him to obtaining the arrow, it never got stale for me. 3. The stands and fights. Part 5 felt to me the peak of abilities as they had become more creative than p3 "fire", "sword", "strong punch" but not yet too convoluted as some of p6 where I still struggle to understand how they work. Sticky Fingers to me is a prime example of peak jojo battle writing of looking at the ability like "zippers? how the hell are you fighting using zippers?" and then being like "oh shit that is a really clever way to use such a weird ability". Jojo fights in my opinion shine the most when there are clever ways to use a weird ability without it being too convoluted. To not seem like a too big p5 glazer (even tho it still is my second favorite after p7) I throw in my biggest cons: Giorno falling off from being the street hustler Jonathan's heart with Dio's ruthlessness to becoming a bit bland after the first 1/3rd. This bugs me the most because I loved the subtle details in how early p5 Giorno spoke in a very respectful manner and tone (Jonathan-ism) while murdering people like Polpo with no remorse (Dio-ism) which felt like an eerie contrast. Diavolo was a slight letdown after a fantastic introduction with Doppio. The final battle was probably my least favorite after p1.

The end of Golden Wind made me shed a little tear, especially the part between right after Bruno's soul's last speach and just before we saw Giorno on the throne (when Mista and Trish are laughing like a new couple of idiots 😆). I don't know why this particular moment was emotional like that for me 🤷🏻‍♂️, but I suppose it is because they won and now they can finally really breathe and have fun without having to constantly looking behind their back 👀💧

I will definitely agree with you on gold experience being to overpowered, and that Giorno never really seems to be in any danger aside from the side characters, but it's also fitting considering his connection to DIO. At times I felt like Giorno was kind of a side character, moreso than part 3-4 (that might be a hot take) I think part 6 kinda returns to the part 2 formula where almost every battle involves the main JoJo of the part. I'm also happy to see part 4 being your favorite, everyone i know that watched Jojo usually puts it lower on the list as one of their least favorites, which I think is kinda silly since to me it's the most bizarre part of them all (so far, no idea how steel ball run is gonna unpack) I also just loved that we got a bit of a wholesome part for once after the trauma that was part 3's ending. I kinda feel like Araki felt that way too. Josuke is just such a kind hearted person, and I wish we could've stayed in Morioh forever :P

SIG

I do agree that girno needed to do a bit more, but his place in GW is ment to be a driving force for the characters redemption rather than it beimg about giorno himself. He is stoic because he more or less has himself figure out day 1, its the gang that need him to push them to effectovely save thier souls from despair.

Part 5 is definitely one of the weaker parts for me but the anime made it sooo much better. its a worse Stardust Crusader basically, in literally every single way possible. My list is the following: Part 3 > Part 4 > Part 2 > Part 5 > Part 1 > Part 6 I'll repost what I posted on your last Golden Wind reaction, then I'll watch the video and give another answer in response to the points you brought up. Important thing to mention is that on rewatch part 5 went down in my tier list. I still think it has a lot of fun fights and some amazing moments but the absence of any compelling story or stakes felt just too detrimental imo. This is what I posted, sorry for the length but I couldn't be more concise: Was a fun journey. David Production delivered some of the best animation in all of Jojo thus far. That being said, rewatching this through your reactions also confirmed many of the shortcomings I thought the part had on my first read and first watch. While still being a similar journey-type part like Part 3, it just never really reached the same heights as Stardust Crusaders. The final fight is probably the weakest across all parts. The villain has arguably one of the coolest Stand designs ever, and Doppio is great, but Diavolo himself isn’t that interesting, and the stakes don’t feel as high as in Part 3. Giorno also isn’t as fleshed out as the previous JoJos. It kind of feels like Araki didn’t have a super clear idea of where to take him. He’s this ace-type character like Jotaro and also plays a support role, but he doesn’t really have any flaws compared to the earlier JoJos, which makes him come across a bit bland. The other characters have issues too. I liked Bruno, but he’s a bit too serious and doesn’t really have any negative traits, not unlike Giorno. Narancia is probably the second-best character for me, I really liked him. I didn’t enjoy how he was killed off, and I feel like he had way more potential than what Araki ended up doing with him. Trish is okay, but she’s pretty underwritten. Ironically, her most interesting moment is when she acts like a diva at the start. After that she mostly just becomes a scared victim for a while, until she gets that Koichi-type development. Not a huge fan of how she was handled. Fugo and Abbacchio… there’s honestly not that much to say, they barely get time to shine. It feels like they were kind of there for plot purposes (Fugo was even supposed to betray the gang and fight them instead of Cioccolata, but that got cut), so he ends up feeling like a dropped idea more than a full character. And Abbacchio has a Stand that isn’t even that suited for fights, which is kind of rough in a series where fights are basically 80% of the story, so we barely see him do anything. The one character I’ll actually remember is probably Mista. He’s fun, smart, interesting, has both good and bad traits, and gets to be involved in a lot of fights. Just an all-around solid character. In terms of bonds in Part 3, every character got to interact with each other a lot. Part 4 had a decent amount of that too. But in Part 5, the only really interesting interactions I can remember are the ones between Mista and Giorno. Abbacchio and Giorno’s little feud doesn’t really go anywhere, Fugo and Narancia seem like they have a special bond but Araki never really expands on it, and Narancia and Trish’s bond kind of came out of nowhere for me, it felt more like a setup to justify Narancia turning on the boss than anything else. Maybe it’s just me, but I’m also not really a fan of flashbacks as a way to build character, especially in JoJo. Unfortunately for me (and fortunately for people who like them), there’s a lot more of that coming in JoJo from here on out. I wish the fights had put more emphasis on characterisation instead of mainly doing that for the antagonists. It did it pretty well at the start with Abbacchio and Giorno, and later with Mista and Giorno, which were both great. But overall it just needed more of that, imo. What else… the drugs thing wasn’t that interesting, it’s barely even touched on. It feels like a pretty hollow plot device, honestly. The whole thing mostly comes off as an excuse for a journey and a villain with fights more than anything. I just wish the story had shown more about Giorno, something that tied him a bit more into the actual storyline. The mafia setting was cool, but just like the drugs, it doesn’t really end up meaning much story-wise. The big issue for me is that Araki doesn’t really stray from his monster-of-the-week format. And while I did enjoy that structure in the previous two parts, I would’ve preferred a return to a more normal, plot-driven format. Unfortunately, I think this format is just too convenient for Araki since it lets him write more episodically instead of planning everything from the start. Hard to blame him, but it does hurt what he’s trying to do imo. It’s easy to make the reader feel like they’re following a road trip or a detective/thriller type story with this structure, but for a mafia story? Not so much.

For me. 6. Phantom Blood. Part 1 I think it's great and i prefer it over part 4 and 5 however it's way too short 5. Diamond is Unbreakable. When I first watched part 4 I didn't really like it but on a rewatch it was a lot better and I didn't really like kira as the main villain. 4. Golden Wind. Part 5 has a lot of good things but a lot of bad things aswell. Some of the good things include the side characters and the villains I think are great however for me giorno is the worst joestar by far and I thought the final fight against diavolo was very lackluster and the fact that part 5 ended on a flashback basically. 3. Stone Ocean. Part 6 should probably be higher but i didn't resonate with the characters as much as in other parts and i think the solitary confinement arc was quite boring however the characters are good especially Wheather report and I think part 6 has the best ending out of all the parts. 2. Stardust Crusaders. I think Part 3 starts well with the introduction of stands and the first part of the journey is good but gets very boring mid way through and made me stop watching jojos but when they get to egypt it gets just better and better and I don't think there and bad episodes. Polnareff I'll also say is the best side character in all of jojos and felt like a secondary protagonist. 1. Battle Tendency. Part 2 is the only flawless part in my opinion it has the best Joestar, my favorite Jobro, the best fight scenes, the best villains, and the best pacing.

Otaku Steph

Ooooo I think this may have been the first time I’ve heard of Caesar being someone’s favourite jobro - that’s awesome. Very solid tier list with some good back up points too. Also agree on Part 3 pacing. I think if I was to include BOTH halves of Stardust Crusaders it my tier list, it would be lower overall too

Otaku Steph

YAAASS Fernando! Very solid opinions of each Part. I wonder if I will see anyone rank Phantom Blood as their number one haha. I’m also unsure where I will put stone ocean in my own tier list when I eventually break that down 🤔

Otaku Steph

Oooo yes it seems quite a few others agree with you on Golden Wind having a lackluster finale/fight! Really loved your breakdown of the plot progression too and wholeheartedly agree with it feeling very unique and refreshing. I can’t wait to experience Part 7 in its entirety, as it seems like Araki’s magnum opus from what you and many others have been saying!

Otaku Steph

AND LIL TURTLEREFF TOO 😭😭 I miss Mista and Bruno a lot LOL

Otaku Steph

PART 4 was SO good 😭 the frickin evolution of Stands, lil Hayato fighting for his life, civilians banding together to be heroes and the sheer bizarreness of it all was so fun to watch. Also wholeheartedly agree with there needing to be a buffer from the depressing end that was Stardust Crusaders. SAME! It seems the small glimpses of Josuke’s hair through TSKR is all we’re gonna get 💔

Otaku Steph

Yeee he deffo took a backseat to allow characters to shine. I can’t complain though haha as Bruno’s Bizarre Adventure will always be appreciated 😌

SophIsDumb

We need a JoBro’s list!!

Otaku Steph

ooo i like your perspective on the "monster-of-the-week format."! Personally, I actually felt like Stardust Crusaders fell into that trap with many redundant villains whereas Golden Wind and the Passione squad were much more memorable due to showing more of their motives. Really good points overall as well. I deffo understand why a lot of people felt the drug plotline feels mundane/low-risk for sure. Always really sick being able to see everyone's perception of each part, so thank you for sharing!!

Otaku Steph

OMG YAAASS. god i would really struggle with that tbh HAHAHA

krkcobain

ok here we go: 1 - Part 4, i just LOVED kira, the whole gang, morioh is such a cool town, it especially felt good after part 3 which was super dark 2 - Part 5, the characters PEAKED here, bucciarati is deadass my favorite character in all of jojo 3 - part 2, kinda tied with part 6 ? part 2 is just so good i LOVE joseph, caesar is such a cool jobro, i love how creative araki got with hamon here 4 - part 6, i think it suffers a bit from the beginning of the part which is a bit slow? though the minute they escape the prison the pace is INSANE, some of my favorite scenes are in this part too (jolyne's sacrifice SHOOK me bro), i think it has the best few last episodes along with part 3, pucci is a MASTERCLASS of an antagonist and dont get me started on his relationship with Weather Report 5 - part 1, i LOVE part 1. yes it is short and could've been more developed but holy i LOVE jonathan, his whole relationship with dio, and i think if anything it being short isn't such a bad thing considering how "linear" the part is 6 - part 3, okay hear me out. i love every jojo part ofc and the last few episodes of part 3 are UNFORGETTABLE (some of the best episodes in all of JoJo), but the middle of that part is kinda long?
