This is my very first time watching the OVAs, and when Church sayed "Levi, please... believe in us." , at this exact moment, I remember what Levi sayed to Eren "I don't know the right answer... I never had..." and now that I saw this scene, I am so much confident to think that it was because of that exact moment. Petra also sayed to Eren "Please Eren... believe in us..." and obviously Levi heard that soooo... yeah, pretty sure this is why 😅 EDIT : LMAO, litteraly 3 seconds after I wrote this, you said the exact same thing as me 😆😆

One thing I really love about the No Regrets OVA is how yes, it gives a recontextualization of Levi's character in big ways, but also the little things too! When Eren was first introduced to Levi and he saw how much of a neat freak he was it was framed in a way as an eccentric quirk of the strict captain, perhaps drilling discipline into Eren. But in this OVA we see how Levi grew up in the dirty underground with no sunlight, so every time he is dirty it reminds him of his time down there and the friends he's lost so much so that he can't stand it, and feels the impulse and desire to make it a point to keep things around him clean.

I've been making that sound at the beginning of the episodes every time I'm surprised it took you this long to start doing it too lmao

Lots of people didn't really get why Erwin was telling Levi to pay attention to his gas - it's not because Levi is particularly flashy or a show off, it's because he used his gas to jump to help his friends, when they didn't need him and managed to kill that titan alone. Basically, Erwin was telling him not to rush to help others, while for Levi, the most important thing is to save lives. It's to show Erwin is already able to think of the bigger picture, but is also a bit callous with regards to others' lives. And that's also why he suggests Levi is having doubts : Levi is is doubting his friends can manage, and that could be the death of him.
