11:56 finally the Saul Goodman titan

Jay rellim

eren feels so selfish to me idc idc idc, he's doing everything to protect the like 12 friends he has on paradis. his actions show he's willing to use and sacrifice everyone else, including others on paradis island. what if someone that his friend's love is against eren??? he'll hit conny with something like "i killed your wife for your sake, now you're free" lol. also if you have the power to destroy the world, you def have the power to create more than the two "kill everyone or be killed" options imo. but yes, genocide the world so your friends can live another 80 years AT MOST if there isnt a civil war amongst jeagerist vs non jeagerist in like 2 years. he basically doomed ALL of humanity, including paradis eldians, so 12 of his friends can potentially live longer lives

Jay rellim

and lowkey it makes frieda's line "man is far too weak in the face of such massive power" hit

“Barricades” is back from the s2 finale 🔥😎

From how the event unfold back in season 3, Levi has his reason to not pick Erwin. Because Levi already told him to give up on his dream and go die. Bring him back again after that is just ... no, that would be really insulting to the man and the choice that Levi already made for Erwin. In the end, I don't think picking one of them is about right or wrong choices. it's more about making a choice that you won't regret.

Alex Jobson

you missed the post credit scene!!!! pls watch before the next episode

Alex Jobson

sorry for not letting you know it was coming up i kinda forgot myself lol

Ethan Jacobs

A lot of people misread Eren here. They think oh he’s the bad guy but Marley has already made alliances with the rest of the world to eradicate Eldia so in his eyes this is entirely self defense for his loved ones. Obviously he’s in the wrong because this is on hypothetical (if Marley goes through with it and there is some good people who aren’t indoctrinated) but to say Eren is the only one is the wrong is so false.

Jennywocky

Annie's my favorite character. I was so excited to see her back! And then cementing in the backstory we had somewhat guessed. Like with Gabi, she's someone who has been through a long dark place and then found meaning where there had been nothing.

Smart Kaboose

"I didnt want to be bald-ist" hahahahahh

You missed a part after 4x23 ed. 🤕🤞

YOU FORGOT THE END CREDIT SCENE ON 4x23!!! 😭

Smart Kaboose

That cut after the first episode ended was so funny lmaooo thats how we all felt watching week to week (and year to year) back when it was airing. I remember just not watching the "final episode" because I knew they wouldnt finish the story in one more episode, AND THEN THEY DID TWO LOL. So glad you get to watch all of it without huge gaps in between

Jennywocky

Yeah, neither choice was rationally wrong, but I felt like Levi's decision was more an act of mercy/love to a man he respected and believed in. And of course showing faith that Armin had something to offer as well.

Jennywocky

Yeah it is complicated. Remember Liberio and Willy purposefully aligning the world to eradicate Paradis. If Eren did nothing, Paradis would be gone. So what degree of response was appropriate? I do kinda feel people sidetrack when the debate becomes about whether Eren was right, the question is more, "Why do humans get stuck in endless cycles of violence, and is there a way to stop?"

Ethan Jacobs

Fun Fact: Someone did the math. I believe Corridor Digital. The anime is actually wrong it would be 350,000 colossal titans

freen

you missed the ending scene of ep 23

Smart Kaboose

"You can live however you want!" -floch, after killing a guy who didnt want to live how floch wanted him to live, and threatening a bunch of other people to live in submission or die. I do not fucking care how "dedicated" floch is, and I'm tired of seeing the perspective of "you gotta hand it to him". No we dont, fuck that nazi scum, throw him in a box for the rest of his shitty life.

Yuribrained

Willy's global alliance relied on Paradis attacking them during the speech, without his martyrdom it would've just fall flat for most of the world leaders that absolutely hate Marley and are as fearful of them (maybe even more) as they are of Paradis

Smart Kaboose

On Erwin vs Armin: i think youre right in the sense that Erwin deserved to rest. His whole life, all he wanted was to know the secrets beyond the walls. Quite frankly, I imagine Erwin becoming incredibly depressed and incapable of fighting against marley if he lived because of the realization that his father was right and died for it, and that maybe it would've been better if they never learned the secret because now the island is falling to military authoritarianism. I just imagine erwin very sad if he lived, and would say things like "you shouldve chose armin, he still had strength to fight. Im standing on a pile of my comrades with nothing to show for it". But thats just fanfic at this point 😂 Armin represented the youth and the future, and erwin represented the last remaining ignorance of the Subjects of Ymir.

Jennywocky

One thing I really love about AoT is that it lets the characters be messy and out of sorts. Jean seriously considers whether global death is justified and at the moment seems unsure of what he wants to do. Connie plans to feed an innocent kid to his mom. Mikasa’s lost in indecision. Armin is so frustrated and down on himself for not having the answers. But like any person, they struggle through the muck and eventually come out somewhere, hopefully in a better place. Meanwhile, they aren’t expected to be perfect, and this story gives them the liberty to be very wrong sometimes along the way in hopes they end up in the right place. The world is pure chaos right now, and we’re waiting to see how people’s tenuous hearts solidify and what they’ll take away from the Rumbling. I think this episode crystallized all the main struggles of the characters. Armin needs to believe he was worth saving. Mikasa must make her own decisions. Jean must decide what kind of man he’s going to be. Connie must decide what kind of solider he’s going to be. I so much love the Gabi imagery here – putting up her hair like Eren (a “villain”) in the mirror, then looking like Sasha (a savior) to Kiya. Gabi embodies the duality of people – we can all be both angels and devils at once. You caught that the titan was Nile (!) – some people miss that. It’s a sad end to Nile but at least he was put to rest. You also totally locked in on Connie and his deteriorating stability – and how even if logically it makes more sense to feed Falco to someone else, for him it was always going to be his mother. It’s his deepest wound, so to speak – and Connie is at heart an emotional guy, plus much of his support system has been weakened. He just wants to get SOMETHING back that he has lost. The thing with Connie is even with him admitting he’s the dumbest of his friends, his heart has still been good – so you hope he will come to the right choices eventually. Annie being freed was like the principle of Chekhov’s Gun – iow, if a girl is trapped in a giant gemstone in your story, at some point you HAVE to free her! But she’s just the girl who is tired of war and just wants to go home now. Poor Reiner. He constantly takes a beating (physical, emotional), and yet somehow he just never dies. It’s weird how Floch was the most cowardly person in S3 (and the lone survivor of Erwin’s charge), yet his violence and outspokenness here doesn’t seem against character. He’s a zealot driven to extreme convictions by his experiences, and I think control is how he deals with his fears of the world. Another thing I love in these last few episodes is the backdrop of the titans marching. They are always visible in the background, shaking the world with noise and fury. Marching. Marching. Marching. There are SO many titans that they are STILL marching two episodes later! Just so crazy! It gives you a total sense of scale though -- the titans still have not left the city boundaries of Paradis.

SophIsDumb

God Thaw is such a great underrated episode, all the og songs and the back to basics titan fighting is just so fucking good

Jennywocky

yeah, I don't think there was ever a point where I was like, "Yeah, look at Floch go!" and I've been surprised seeing people who have seemed more positive on him. I mean, I feel SAD about him sometimes -- he's the guy who learned all the wrong lessons, and it's hurting a lot of people -- but that's about as far as I could ever go with Floch.

Smart Kaboose

Genocide is never the answer, full stop. It doesnt matter what you've been through or what youre being threatened with. Nobody gets to decide to genocide an entire people, ever. There were NUMEROUS options available to him and all of Paradis, especially after the events of season 3, but eren made his choices because of his own fucked up definition of freedom. He wanted to commit genocide, and he did. Thats wrong. I dont think anybody misreads eren or what he is doing. Like, I think we can all agree that the culture marley's government and political structure has forced on its people is evil, but there are still millions, if not billions of innocent people living there. It doesn't matter if eren saves 100 or 1000 or 100000 of his "own" people in the process. He is a school shooter who got the power to destroy the world and he used it. Marley's political and legal structure is rotten and being run by racists perpetuating evil, and eren became just as evil as them by enacting the rumbling.

JeanJean

Jennywocky is spot on. It's not about who is right or wrong, it's about the fact there are 2 choices and one them implies dying or being taken as a captive and tortured.

Jennywocky

I remember watching Midnight Sun for the first time and not knowing who would live -- and while my head was okay with either (because both are huge assets for the Scouts), my heart felt like Armin was the future and I was relieved to have him be the survivor. Erwin did what he needed to do and got the Scouts as far as they could go -- but what was coming next needed a more flexible mind with a vision beyond the war. Your thoughts about Erwin's reaction to everything that followed the basement is probably correct, and while Steph is right that Erwin would have been more wary of the outside world and making deals with Yolena, you can't close Pandora's box forever. I think the Scouts needed to engage to get Paradis just this far. This whole story is like Rogue One -- we'll take hold of a chance, and then another chance, and then another, until all the chances are spent and we've either won or we've lost. But I don't think trying to control the long-range outcome was ever going to be possible -- the best you could do is work towards the next goal, then re-survey the landscape to choose the NEXT goal... and Armin has the flexibility to do that.

Smart Kaboose

Yeah, absolutely. I think floch deserved to be discharged from the military after what happened to him. It was incredibly traumatizing, and he deserved to chill for the rest of his life surrounded by people caring for him and protecting him. His path in the story is incredibly tragic, and i think there's a lot to be said about where the line is between "pride in who you are" and "whatever the fuck floch is doing" hahahah.

Jennywocky

Which is really too bad, cuz it would have answered one of the questions she was asking, lol!

Jamie

Floch was in the 104th cadets so he would've known Jean from back then. I dont think his character existed then though.

forthewolfx

This is somehow all Floch's fault.

Degenerick

Rule #1 of AOT: NEVER STOP THE WATCHING THE EPISODE UNTIL YOU SEE THE “to be continued”

RisePhx

If Erwin survived and got far enough to learn about the rumbling I feel like Marley would already be ashes. That attack in Liberio would have had no survivors. Once the Marley military was crippled you could easily deal with the rest of them, as Magath pointed out, non Eldians in Marley know nothing of battle. He’d have been much more ruthless in wielding the colossal because at that point it would make strategic sense to remove them as a power given their advanced knowledge of titans. And he is a risk taker above all so I feel like it’s well within his character to risk an all out assault. After that does the timeline in which Eren feels he needs to use the rumbling change? Probably not, the rest of the world would want them gone. We’ll never know but it’s possible things play out differently. Also I’m starting from Liberio. Which is totally arbitrary and we probably wouldn’t have gotten there in the first place. We need an Attack on Titan “What if?” series. Isayama, please! That being said Armin is my favorite character and I’d have been devastated to lose him.

Jamison Fawkes

Conny is so blind to the idea of getting his mother back that he doesn't realize that unfortunately it is now better for his mother to remain a Titan, because if she came back now, well, she would come back to hell, not on the Island she knew

Naiyt

Floch is an example of the problem with unrestrained nationalism and extremism. I guess it shouldn't surprise me that some people think that's based and awesome, instead of terrifying.

vera

Never stop the ep until you see to be continued, been that way since S1 lol

Kruger

Whelp if you want to summarize what anyone and everyone thought at the moment Armin realized Eren undid ALL the hardening and the camera panned down to Annie - you nailed it: "Oh FUCK I didn't consider that!!!" ROFLMAO!!!

Drift3r

You missed the post-credit scene for episode 23. The next and last post-credit scene is episode 27. However the last of the 1 hour long special episodes, and the 2 hour theatrical movie release version, has post and end credit scenes. So make sure to not skip those as well.

Otaku Steph

no definitely my bad!! i've already watched ep 24 and 25 this morning 😭

Otaku Steph

YEESSS, no regrets is the perfect way to put it, esp as that was the name of Levi's OVAs (i think???) lol. it's so sad as a lot of these characters hate armin for being alive, but that was levi's choice to make and i'd like to say he has no regrets for it, even now

Otaku Steph

with AOT it's hard to categorise characters purely into 'bad guy' or 'good guy'. i dont think it was wrong for eren to want to do something quickly, considering how quickly resentment was building towards paradis, BUT i think he was definitely wrong for choosing genocide as the option. then again, who knows how long using the rumbling as a trump card and also if other nations would truly be up for a conversation in the first place!

Otaku Steph

I WAS LIKE "OMG IM SO DUMB WHY DID I NOT CONSIDER THAT" LOOOOOL

Otaku Steph

OOO this is such an interesting take!!! ye erwin was known to be ruthless and strategic, so this may have been a possibility for sure. I ALSO SECOND A WHAT IF SERIES OMG. WHAT A BANGER THAT WOULD BE

Kruger

Not dumb. We got caught up in the action that we kind of forgot about Annie... So did Armin so we shouldn't feel bad...

david

You guys gotta remember this is the main point of the entire show lol. I couldnt believe it when I first watched either but there are unironically hundreds of millions of Erens and Flochs spread out throughout our world today. People actively supporting Eren and Floch makes perfect sense because thats how the world works. We think they're insane and they think we're insane lol. If everyone agreed on everything in attack on titan it would make it like every other story out there, its part of why its so special.

Art

"i wonder what erwin would've done" okay sooo this is a great hypothetical with a rather boring answer, isayama apparently said (dont quote me on this i havent fact checked it) if erwin had been resurrected, after finding out the truth in erens basement, he would've just given up lol. im assuming because of obvious reasons and also because at that point his curiosity (which was his main drive) would've been satisfied. though i feel like isayama might've just given that answer without much thought. because im sure at first erwin probably would've given up and had a sense of hopelessness, i feel like its just hard to continue on feeling hopeless for all that time that passes after they get to erens basement seeing as how everyone else is still continuing to move forward rather than also giving up.

Otaku Steph

i'm genuinely so up for watching non-anime shows at some point if you guys are down HAHA

Yuribrained

Can't speak for all of us but I'd certainly tune in!! Breaking Bad is an excellent show and a great pick for a non anime show reaction

bkiyrfbh

And after Floch repeating numerous times about "Eldian Empire", in combination with first king Fritz's ideology of the expansion of his reign, tribe, and empire that actually lasted for 1000 years, do you think the world's fear of Eldians is absurd?

Orapac

Perfect example for most of the people int his audience is looking at America, and the whole "American Exceptionalism" or "America number 1!" "USA! USA! USA!". A ton of the people who live there are 100% alright with what ever their government and military does because obviously they are the good guys, right? Right?
