My sweet darling babes, please watch this one with caution. It's graphic and devastating in a way that might be as unexpected for you as it was for me. Brilliant film! But absolute HELL!

*and I cannot stress this enough. This is a rough watch y’all. This video was supposed to come out on Tuesday but it took me almost a week to get through the edit 😖

Comments

Pop Shocked James!

Oh girl I told myself I wouldn't ever watch this again it was to heartbreaking but I'll watch it one more time with you. Least we get something out of the ending but wasn't enough to cover up what transpires. All I keep thinking of is Judy Greers scream and tears 😭 😩

Hakili

GIRL!!!!! I’ve been waiting on this one I saw it in the theaters I could barely hold myself together enough to eat my popcorn 😭😭😭 but it still an amazing film

Caleb

The book is a must read!

Paradigox

OH, NO 😭 I just knew this was gonna break your heart...the way the smile on my face fell when I realized what you were watching, because I knew you were gonna cry...LMAO I've lost count of how many times I've watched reactors watch this movie and cried with them, not to mention sobbed the first time I saw it myself!! Such an amazing movie, but heart wrenching

Alanda

No like I was ruined by this 🤧

Hudson Hardgrave

I’m scared. I’ve been avoiding this one but I guess today will be the day I see it 😖. My emotional ass couldn’t even handle sinners.

Alanda

Just under two hours of (brilliantly crafted) DEVASTATION

💜 Chan 💜

Omg Yass Alanda right as I was making sure my subscription for Feb comes out right you posted! You have no idea how much your commentary & overall aura as a person is a safe space for me to unwind from the madness even if it’s just for an hour. Living in the south (Columbia metro five points area, SC lol) during these unprecedented times, despite warning all my friends n family well n advance what would happen had they went in that booth and cast their vote for that man. But I digress 😩 All this to say I love you Alanda (as a fren dw im gay) 🤣💙

Alanda

I woulda choked for sure 😖🤧

Alanda

I honestly don’t think I could do it at this point 😖 I barely survived this

Pop Shocked James!

It is brilliant don't get me wrong amazing film but ugh can only handle so much heartbreak 😭 but watching with you will make it easier

Ev 180

One of my favs from 2025, a devastating watch. Judy Greer’s reaction to seeing her son oh my 😥

Alanda

HEART. WRENCHING. is correct

Dwayne Mason

Nope nope nope nope I will table this for a later date. Because I know seeing it again combined with your reaction is just going to mess me up

Alanda

Babe be careful! You don’t have to do it! I’m watching It next and I’ll have it up asap if you just wanna wait for the next one 😭

Indica Jay

Five minutes I’m weeping with my popsicle I just finished the movie! I didn’t believe you! I’m torn apart! I felt like I walked with them!

Stephen King

Oh you love David Jonsson? Girl he's the male lead and quite frankly breakout in Alien Romulus

Alanda

I understand completely love, it’s so mf hard out here!!! We gotta grab onto anything solid to keep above water and I’m just happy we have our lil films and shows. (Although this one is in no way happy 😭 but it is phenomenal so we move!)

Alanda

🙂‍↕️🥰🫶🏾

Joe from Marketing

This is exactly what I needed. I have been STRUGGLINTA the last week and you Mama? Are a bright spot. Okay. Lemme go get my weed, coffee drink, and blankness. It’s currently a snowstorm and we are snowed in…I know what my ass is doing….

Alanda

I DID NOT KNOW THIS OMG??

Alanda

Exactly take care of yourself!!!! This shit is brutal 😭

Stephen King

Yup you will fall in love with his character lol I never watched Industry but after these two movies I will follow David anywhere

Joe from Marketing

Reading these comments before I’ve ever seen this movie? wtf? 👁️ 👄 👁️ I’m scared to watch this now lol okay here we go.

Alanda

She’s unbelievable. Like breathtaking! Her few little scenes are complete standouts in a film packed with breakout performances 😖

Morgan Sanders

Never cried so much while watching a movie 😭

Alanda

This movie is the saddest thing be careful beauty!!! 😭😭😭

Alanda

No like it’s ROUGH! Very beautiful but also so very dark and so very dismal

Safi Musgrove

Okay, as I sit here inside during this snowstorm in Philadelphia, I contemplated making a quick point about this film. After watching this film, I started writing about my feelings regarding Peter McVries' character and wondering if he fell into the "magical Negro" trope. Given the ending, I wasn't sure if my initial points were still valid, but it’s been bugging me ever since I finished this devastating masterpiece. 🫩 I’m very curious to hear everyone’s thoughts because I have some things to say. 👨🏾‍💻

Joe from Marketing

When we started reading the opening letter? And you said ‘dystopian?’ I instantly knew exactly what everyone was talking about…we about to WEEP aren’t we?

Zo Garcia

saying a prayer here we go 😭😫

Charles Brown

Your thumbnail said everything I needed to see. B L E A K 😣

Juan Medrano

I gotta ask, was this or the most most devastated for you. They both was filmed greatly but the story was bleak. Stephen king is just outworldly

Ulises Wilkinson

Waiting for you "Vylette!" comment. :D UPDATE: It never came. How sad. But also given the staunch bleakness of the movie, I understand why. Oh my goodness, Alanda, I've never seen you cry so hard for a movie. The last time I've seen you cry this hard was your reaction to Train to Busan.

Meredith Hawes

Oof. I just read the synopsis… I think the only way I would feel safe watching this movie is with you, Alanda.

Dana (Dah-Nah)

Joshua Odjick (Collie) was in this and Welcome To Derry, two Stephen King projects in the same year, his death in this hit me the most out of all of them, especially when he starts singing, feels very reminiscent of my own culture (Māori)

Joe from Marketing

OF COURSE they would have to walk during the night…why did I not realize that?!?!

J

beautiful movie i truly believe pete and ray could have been in love had circumstances been different and the vietnam war allegory of marching boys to their pointless death is just devastating but i really loved this movie even through the tears

Taco Wolf

Would love to see you react to some more fun, lighthearted stuff- maybe some horror rom-coms for February? like Your Monster (2024), Humanist Vampire Seeking Consenting Suicidal Person (2023), or something super campy like Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (2016) or Boy Eats Girl (2005)

Joe from Marketing

Oh. My. Lordt. What 👏🏻 the 👏🏻 fuck 👏🏻

Joe from Marketing

201 miles?!?? I didn’t know people could walk this long without sleep and rest. I’m officially cry-crying now.

Chel Ryan

"His little hat, I'm about to be tortured." Oh babyyy my sweet angel. Yes you are.

Connor Castle-Boulay

So hard watching you cry girl! You’ve held it together in some movies before but girl we were sobbing together for this one ❤️😭

nathan h

i read the book in highschool idk how accurate it is to the book but knowing the book and seeing the comments i know this is about to be HEAVY

Jordan Ay'che

This movie completely wrecked me when I first saw it. It's so bleak but loved this reaction and I felt every emotion you did. It was all so fkd

Joe from Marketing

We need shirts and mugs that say… “I survived the Long Walk.”

Joe from Marketing

Imagine they just start another Long Walk the next day like nothing ever happened

Joe from Marketing

Also, this might be dumb but if we ever watch movies that really fuck with us and you just wanna accidentally make a vid and talk to us about it? I would be in full support of that. Like, extended coffee talks. Sorry. I’m greedy and in need. This movie got me all fucked up.

the3Awakened1

The mind of Stephen King... lmao

Stephen King

Wait you watched "Under The Dome" girl as someone that has read the book that is 1000+ pages that book is FUCKING Insantly the tv show doesn't even grasp

Ty

Girl, the dichotomy of sobbing but also twirling my hair and kicking my feet over Ray and Pete!! Let me go rewatch Heated Rivalry lmao ;_;

Helunky

Oh my god hahaha I think this was the most emotional I’ve seen you!! Me too girl! Loved watching it with you thank you as always ❤️💖❤️💖❤️💖❤️💖❤️💖❤️💖❤️💖

Joshua Scott

The Long Walk and Bring Her Back were the top 2 Emotional Torture Movies of 2025. Oof. It's so hard to sit through this movie. Now thanks to Patreon I've seen it 5 times. I still cry during this movie, but oh my God the first time i watched this movie and when Hank goes out I was a mess. Ugly ugly crying. The performances in this movie are Oscar worthy. Now on a brighter note Dory, a real-life eyeless rescue cat from Manitoba was chosen to play the cat on top of the mailboxes. There is a photo of Garrett Wareing, who plays Stebbins, posing with Dory. He loves cats. Ben Wang who plays Hank is in Karate Kid: Legends and seasone one of American Born Chinese. Joshua Odjick plays Collie in this and also has a reoccurring role in season one of It: Welcome To Derry. (NO SPOILERS) He had two Stephen King projects in one year.

Ashton Drewello

I think that last part was Pete saying he's been walking his whole life. He just went through the Long Walk, lost everything, should want to rest/stop, but he still has to keep walking. Gurl, we need some M3GAN 2.0 after this trauma!

Andrew

Ray and Pete’s relationship and character trajectories reminds me, respectively, of Selena and Jim from 28 Days Later. (Mild spoilers for both below) In both movies one half of the duo starts out very cynical and disillusioned with the world, unwilling/unable to see the beauty and joy still present in it but by the end has formed bonds with others that allow them to see what makes life worth living. Whereas the other half of both duos starts out more idealistic and hopeful and it’s through THEIR connections with other people that some (or all) of that is stripped away to be replaced with a more vengeful nature when the people that bring that light into their lives are threatened. I think both movies do such a good job of highlighting that need for human connection and love, especially when the world around you is so broken and the extreme positives and negatives it can bring out in people when those bonds are formed.

Maleny

Yeah as soon as I heard you were doing this I knew you were gonna have a rough time. Glad you got through, though. Fantastic film.

Andrew

I swear, Cooper Hoffman and David Jonsson deserve some kind of joint acting award for this movie, it just doesn’t work if we aren’t so invested in Ray and Pete’s relationship and their performances and chemistry here were INCREDIBLE. (They apparently became like besties making it, would highly recommend looking up their interviews as an antidepressant to the actual movie). And Hollywood clearly agrees because they were cast in another movie just like 2 weeks after this came out, so people know they’re absolute gold on screen together.

Jason

This move is definitely at the top of my list of favs of 2025 this cast was incredible and the fact that it was based on the book I have to get the book and read it because this movie was truly a 10/10 masterpiece 💥💥💥

Ken Garvey

When I tell you I cried the last hour of the movie 😭 it definitely broke me, and made me wish I had a friend like that. It also reminded me of what life feels like nowadays. Bleak af! I read the book years ago, and really enjoyed it! If you’re a book lover I recommend it!

Dani

we survived but at what cost

Andrew

The Mist: I’m the most devastating Stephen King adaptation. The Long Walk: Hold my beer.

Jay

The immediate face change when she seen the major 😭

J'aime Black

I knew this movie was impactful but i had no idea it was so reflective of what we're going through now! I was tearing up here and there but collie's death really got me! Him singing in his native language= instant tears! Like native americans haven't endured already a long walk, I'm glad he fought back at the end..and maybe it's delulu of me but I'm choosing to believe pete lived at the end (I'm adopting the walking dead philosophy: if you aint see them due on camera, they aint dead!) also I'm lowkey mad that ray's mom came out to see him, like i understand she wanted to see how he was doing but girl you had to know him seeing you was gonna break him down, had me screaming at the screen 😭

NySwagtaz

One word for this movie “Trauma”. This made such impact and so much cinema in just a walk. Great job to everyone in this movie.

Andrew

I saw someone comment on another Long Walk reaction that if we're to believe the movie takes place in a dystopian 1970's which is when the book came out which I do think the movie is aiming for aesthetically, then Collie's song has even more impact because Native American self expression was still illegal in the 70's so it's him going out on his own terms in multiple ways.

Shay Tuck

When Ray said he wanted to kill the major and you yelled at “girl!” I did at the same time 🤣🤣 you were going through it babes. I’m sorry.

Andrew

I didn’t notice this on my first watch but the track that plays when Art dies is the same that plays when Hank dies, they got as close as Ray and Pete 😭

Heathaniel

Alanda, watching you suffer through this movie made me feel horrible for suggesting it 😭😭😭 it is such a brilliant adaptation but absolutely heartbreaking, I am glad you watched it and I got to watch you watch it 😂😂🫶🏼

Daniel McGuinness

Such an amazing reaction to such a devastating movie. The delayed title card was such a gag, it’s like “NOW you’re in the movie bitch!” I forgot the constant dread that weighs down your stomach for this whole movie, god. Even every happy moment is immediately followed by the horrible realisation that that they’re all gonna die 😭 every mile marker that popped up made my legs seize up omg I really wouldn’t make it past 5 and they did 300? THREE HUNDRED? And the way my media-illiterate ass didn’t even recognise the implications that Pete was killed at the end… I just thought everyone must’ve ran away bc of the gun or something at the time wtf 😭😭😭😭 maybe it’s the denial and need for HAPPINESS HE WON HE’S ALLOWED TO KILL ONE (1) OLD BITCH

Jae

That movie was so hard to watch 🥺

Jay

The performances in this movie were phenomenal ✨

Aden Buettner

omg when i saw this at the theater it was so heartbreaking so glad you enjoyed the movie

Andrew

I’ve seen people say that this is a movie we’ll look back on in 10-15 years and be like “Wow, what a stacked cast” because every one of these young actors has the potential to become huge stars.

Kate

everything francis lawrence directs comes out haunting, beautiful, and prescient

Belladonna Rose

Thank you for sharing and enduring this traumatic emotionally and existentially bleak work of art with us. What made it most difficult to watch was how reflective it was of current times. It leaves you with such profound sadness and a lesson to choose joy and find a glimmer of light in the darkness. And to keep walking.

BlacKnightSun

I think there are two things at work that keep it from falling into that trope. First, Ray is basically the same and arguably more so, constantly helping out all the other guys (which Pete doesn't so much, he's focused mostly on Ray and to a lesser degree the other musketeers) and he's the one the jerk turns to for absolution/companionship before dying by suicide. Ray is close to a Gary Stu, and yes, Pete helps him, but it's pretty even between them. Second, as you mentioned, the ending, because Pete chooses violence over using the money to do good things for kids like he'd been. If Pete had done the latter, or if he had been the one to die first and Ray then decided to follow his advice and use the money for good instead of killing the Major, that would have been different.

Kylia Rose

i wept like a newborn baby the first time i watched this omg

Waylon Jordan

God this messed me up so bad. Such a beautifully made and written film, the performances were amazing, and the direction was spot on. But damn it, it just rakes me over the coals.

Jonah

I am DESTROYED. That was the saddest, most bleak and devastating experience, holy shit. Gorgeous though, absolutely brilliant. I don't think I'm ever gonna watch it again but I'm glad I've seen it.

kyler (slshers)

i was such a wreck watching this movie… a good 5+ times i had to collect myself

Diego Loewenstein

the ending pissed me clean off coz why couldn't he ask for money and then shoot the major???

A Cup of Cait

This movie had me a ugly crying in the theater. Absolutely devastating but also so beautiful

tyler solomon

I’m shocked Alanda did this movie. Who the fuck recommended it to her. I only saw it once and thought that’s it. Too dark, too evil, and too sad. But great performances from everyone.

theycallme40p

I appreciate the disclaimer Alanda

Ana Fox

Beautiful and bleak. So much heart and sadness.

Safi Musgrove

Well, BlacKnightSun— I love the name, by the way. I must say I agree with you. I had to sit with it because, historically, characters of color, specifically Black characters, tend to appear in films like this to provide insight or crucial knowledge for the protagonist. They serve as props or sounding boards to support the white lead, who is usually the story's hero. In many cases, Black characters sacrifice themselves (in different ways) to ensure the white lead, typically male, ultimately succeeds and remains virtuous by the end of the film. As the audience, we rarely learn much about their personal lives or motives beyond what's necessary to inspire a character journey for the white protagonist. Their personal trauma is often overlooked, put aside, or used as fodder to invoke character development for the "real hero." I think of characters like Kali in Stranger Things, Tia Dalma in the Pirates of the Caribbean series, or even (to a point) Dr. Donald Shirley in Green Book. You made several great points, and as I mentioned before, I agree with you. Both Pete and Ray were on a somewhat level playing field.

Jadon P

The fact that I watched this last week and the first thing I said was "Yikes im gonna pray for alanda having to watch this"

HBM

Hedda is FANTASTIC and I'm mad everyone is sleeping on that film.

HEXyKen

Imo bad movie but ill watch just 4 alanda

AgathasAnthology

What the hell just happened 😭😭😭😭

kelsie

This is such a brutal masterpiece. I saw it opening weekend and when I tell you the whole theater was shell-shocked I’m not even kidding. It was dead silence as the credits rolled and we all basically stumbled out to our cars. I sat in the parking lot for like twenty minutes just thinking about it and then cried the majority of my hour ride home. I’ll never get over Ray sacrificing himself because he can’t see the light anymore and that one action being what robs Pete of his ability. I agree that Pete is gunned down basically immediately because the crowd and noise disappears completely after he takes the shot. It’s heartbreaking but ultimately a satisfying ending (for me) because I don’t see a world where Ray and Pete can live without each other after this.

Andrew

I saw this movie with my best friend and for like 10 minutes after I just sat in the theater sobbing and holding onto him and letting him know how much I love him, it’s really one of those movies that just makes you want to cling tight to everyone important in your life.

kelsie

I’m so glad you had someone important there with you! I ended up seeing it again with my best friend and she had a very similar reaction. It’s such a bonding experience and a catalyst for difficult but important conversations. 🫶

Bexx Lane

does the video pause and skip every few minutes for anyone else?? :(

Bexx Lane

Okay I thought I was going crazy haha

bolt

Im stuck on the titty cup cover😭😭😭

David

First time watching this movie. DEV•A•STA•TING! Is this supposed to be an allegory for the Draft here in the US?

Alanda

On no! When I play it on my end it’s normal, but it was a really weird upload. It deleted itself when it was almost done processing and then I had to reupload it and it still took over 6 hours to process. Maybe I should just re-upload it?

Alanda

I think it’s an allegory for a lot of things 😭

bolt

Lol you good🤣🤣🤣

Diego Loewenstein

I didn't want to say it coz i thought i had shitty internet 😭

David

On a positive note, I caught you singing Griff at the beginning. Entire album is a bop. One of my favorites for working out.

Stephen King

Oh yeah Alanda i'm glad you clocked the tea with Ray and Pete right away the real ones know they are actually married

Bexx Lane

Only if it’s not inconvenient, but it was honestly tolerable I got over it pretty quick. Hopefully it didn’t miss any good parts but I’ve seen the movie and I don’t think it skipped much. But if you have the time to reload I’m sure people would appreciate it but you don’t need to delete this copy! Hope you’re less traumatized after some time away from it! 💕

Lara Farahani

This was my favorite movie last year. I’m so glad you watched it. It’s heartbreaking, but also beautiful, brilliantly acted, directed, and written

Ben

You’ll have to move Alien: Romulus up on your watchlist to see more of Pete’s actor. He’s even better than in this movie.

Meredith

Man- this movie is so beautifully dark.

Brandy Henry

I love how beautiful this film is in finding the light in the darkness. It’s so relevant now it hurts. Interesting fact about the actor portraying Ray Garraty. He’s the late actor Philip Seymour Hoffman’s son.

DarkSkyLady

Also I'd recommend Rye Late. A British romantic comedy he is in. It's great! I reviewed it.

Andrew

I rewatched Rye Lane like 2 days after I first saw this because I desperately needed to see him in something that didn’t destroy me emotionally. SUCH a good movie, his character in that is low key the man of my dreams haha

Bri Johnson

This movie showcases the metaphor of poverty and the struggle of trying to achieve upward mobility so so so well, it hurts. It was McVries' speech about finding the light in the darkness that finally did me in. Beautifully painful to feel and experience with so many others, especially with everything going on in the world right now. Everybody take extra good care of themselves after watching this one tonight <3

Sko0lboy G

Oh I’m sorry you had to experience this. Beautiful movie but whew

WhaleWolf

Watching this for the first time with you in my English class and HOLY. I wasnt ready I paused, im halfway through help me

WhaleWolf

Imo, your opinion that this was bad, is a bad opinion however it is just an opinion.

Em

Dude, you're a fucking soldier for posting this reaction. To go through this and edit it? Mama bless you

Urias Davis

Not Stephen King writing queer characters… I’m glad I’m not the only one that clocked it.

JACOB DOSS

That was a ROUGH watch omg

MsDarra

I’m 11:05 in and whew I know this is about to tear you up. 😭

Erin Nelson

I loved this movie it made me shove some little tears back. My wife going to tell me thats weakness leaving my body. I had to do some push-ups.
