My lovies, my babes! Happy BLACK HISTORY MONTH! And also Happy Love Month! I know that lil internet shenanigan threw us off, but we are actually unkillable so we got a lot of good still comin this month. I really wanted to find some good BHM horror to add to my list for February too, but we've already watched most of the ones on the list over on YT. I'll go back through comments and try to throw up a poll to decide amongst what left. If I cant get it out this month, we'll start march with black horror! Love yall, eat some chocolate 🙂‍↕️💛🙂‍↕️💛🙂‍↕️💛🥰

Can't wait for all this amazing content you have in store for us, Happy Black History Month!😄

Ev 180

Banger after banger omg!

Daijah

Heart Eyes is a good one to watch this month!

Aaron Johnson

I absolutely loved Companion. Such a total surprise. This is a long shot, but for Valentines Day there is an unhinged, bonkers slasher from the 80s called “X-Ray” aka “Hospital Massacre”. It has to be seen to be believed.

diana (world of tinashe)

can’t wait to continue the Chucky shenanigans, also loved Companion and Your Monster so I’m excited for those as well ❤️

Heathaniel

Very Excited!! Thank you! 🫶🏼

Pop Shocked James!

Happy black History month to you girl! Can't wait for all these and for you to finish Chucky episode 3 no spoilers but Tiffany finally appears and she gives us the performance of a lifetime in this season her most unhinged yet

Marissa Moore

Heart Eyes and Companion are the ones to watch!

Alanda

I wont be able to fit it this month, but we will discuss!

Alanda

At least i got one comin 🙂‍↕️🙏🏾

Eyesick

Hope you're doing great!!! I was hoping you'd react to Nope for BHM, even a rewatch would be amazing!

Alanda

This is the only Jordan Peele movie I still haven't seen so I was gonna put it on the poll!! I hope it wins 😭🙏🏾

Joanna Bettelheim

Started to suggest Run Sweetheart Run, then realized you did react to that, time for me to rewatch that on YouTube!

Kira Johnson

If you’ve already watched The Shining, Doctor Sleep would be fantastic end to BHM leading into Women’s History Month as it stars the coolest little girl in cinema, who also happens to be black. And bonus it’s Mike Flanagan. But you have to have seen The Shining first.

Zombies_Are_Real

Have you watched Sissy? That would be fun for Black History Month AND horror movies! Everything you posted are bangers! The girl who is the voice of M3gan has a small role in Lisa Frankenstein btw!

Leslie Summey

Very much looking forward to Companion!

Maria Luiza

omg lisa frankenstein!!!

lauren

so excited queen!!!🖤🖤🖤 companion is so much fun

Nate muwah

Would you ever ever go on a marvel journey??

Ethan Sin

Awesome, very excited! 🤩🥳

un.filth.er.ed

Happy black history month, Jay! I highly recommend Night of the Living Dead (1968). It's a cult classic that made film history by George A. Romero's casting of a black protagonist. :) I also know you have an affinity for zombies.

Will3000

Thank you so much for consistently being a beacon of light and hope! Happy Black History month to you, too! It's rough out there, but you're right, no one can wear us down. Because we're resilient and will come back stronger than we were before 💪 Take care 🩵

Joe Crammond

can't wait for more chucky, hope you can do the beetlejuice films and pan's labyrinth at some point

Jeb Manning

I might also suggest the 1991 American fantasy comedy-drama romance movie The Fisher King. It's directed by Terry Gilliam, one of the members of Monty Python. It's got an all-star cast including Robin Williams, Jeff Bridges, Mercedes Ruehl, Amanda Plummer, and Michael Jeter. It tells the story of a washed-up radio shock jock who tries to find redemption by helping a man whose life he inadvertently destroyed. It's heartbreaking and heartwarming and has one of the best romances in movies between Robin Williams and Amanda Plummer. It would make for such a great Valentine's Day reaction.

Ron Paul Deluta

So excited for the Companion reaction. 💗

georgie

companion lets gooooo!!!! 😸😸😸

Johan van Berkel

'Nope' is excellent. Hope that will be one of the choices!

Owen Zacchara

Perhaps Candyman 2 or the recent reboot!

Lovepink

So excited 😝😝😝

Pierre Brown

I haven't seen anything on the docket for this month so this should be exciting!

Christopher Nicholas

I'm excited for anything and everything you react to, but I'm still patiently waiting for you to get back to the Chucky season 3 videos. 6 more episodes and we are almost finish 🙏🏾

Josh Moniz

Def By Temptation is an indie production by a Black write director and all Black cast (even a 2 second cameo by Samuel Jackson) absolutely DRIPPING in 90s nonsense that will make you super nostalgic Also, it has a tongue in cheek connection for Valentine's due to the monster's focus

Josh Moniz

Blackula is not only a legit horror film but he also spends the film mostly fucking up cops, so extremely based film

Josh Moniz

Tales from the Crypt: Demon Knight is one of my comfort horror films staring Jada Pinkett Smith, Williams Sadddler and Billy Zane as a kooky hell demon

Andrew

His House (2020) is a fantastic, underseen Black horror film with the love of your life Wunmi Mosaku, hope you get a chance to react to it some day!

Cory Smith

I recommend Bad Hair for BHM!! It’s 80s black excellence.

Helunky

Would LOVE a Walking Dead rewatch with you! At least seasons 1-5!

Rob Valentine

I recommend Heart Eyes its a perfect V Day movie plus has Mason Gooding in it

Tim D.

The Deliverance (2024) is a good one. Get Out (2017) Us (2019) There's still some pretty decent BHM that you haven't reacted to.

Quinton

I think u would like tales from the hood

Jonah

Antebellum? it's apparently a polarizing one, some people loved it and some people hated it. I remember watching Us and Antebellum both in the same day years ago and I thought they were both pretty good.

Skittle Williams

HAPPY BHM!! I recommend Mr Crockett, Them(series) , the reading (w/ monique), or You're not alone (tubi w/ Michael Jai White)

Perry McKeethen

Concur with the Candyman reboot recommendation, especially while the original is still fresh in your mind. Really good tie-ins to the original.

spheeris jones

If you're interested in an older horror film for BHM, I'll recommend Ganja & Hess ('73) - staring the amazing Duane Jones (of Night of the Living Dead). Just make sure you get the restored cut! There's also a remake by Spike Lee - Da Sweet Blood of Jesus - but I can't speak in how good or not it is.

Madeby STVR

She’s very pro black so I’m sure everything suggested would be rewatches for her not first time watches

YukkiChin

Get out (2017) is definitely worth to consider if you haven't seen it ♥️

Brandy Henry

I highly recommend you watch the fantastic documentary on Shudder called Horror Noire. It gives history and insight into African Americans in horror films from past to present. Also if you haven’t watched it, Blacula is a good one too.

Destiny 🩵

She’s mentioned in the past that she’s seen Get Out already because she used to get a lot of requests for it on YouTube. Further down in the comments she said that Nope is the only Jordan Peele movie that she hasn’t seen and it’s going to be on the upcoming poll

Elvis Bernal

Heart Eyes (2025) 😍😱 would be a good slasher flick to react to this February Alanda. Mason Gooding from Scream is the lead ❤️

YukkiChin

Oh, I get it. Thanks for telling me! I enjoyed Nope, so I’m glad it’s going on the poll

Justin Lafleur

The Candyman requel would be excellent. Nia DaCosta does a great job with that, and since we can't all collectively go see her 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple together in the theater, we could honor her work this way this month. Someone suggested the documentary Horror Noir (not to be confused with the anthology series, also on Shudder I think), about the Black experience in the horror genre, and it would be interesting cool to attempt a documentary on this channel. It's a great documentary. There is Blacula and Scream, Blacula Scream. I've never seen them but they're supposed to be genuine horror films with moments of actual scariness. Plus Pam Grier! Tales from the Hood is excellent. And a must at some point of this channel. Didn't you record reactions to Nope and Us that you were never able to get uploaded on YouTube? Do you still have those files sitting around, if so? Tales from the Crypt: Demon Knight has an AWESOME Black Final Girl in the form of Jada Pinkett Smith (is she still a Smith?) and CCH Pounder is always a welcome inclusion. It's a balls to the wall gory, goopy, comic book monster movie that's fun in all the right ways and doesn't take itself too seriously, just like we love from the Tales from the Crypt brand. There is of course Blade. Which is awesome. And worth watching if for no other reason than it gets you to Guillermo del Toro's Blade II. Much of del Toro's then-unique approach to vampires is probably old hat by today's standards, but his then-literally-jaw-dropping creature design was worth the admission fee alone. Ma is a must at some point. WHO DOESN'T WANT OCTAVIA SPENCER AS A HORROR VILLAIN?!? She actually loves the genre and she feels like a big warm hug when starring in it. Sugar Hill, Ganja and Hess and J.D.'s Revenge are all Blaxploitation-era gems (fun trivia: J.D.'s Revenge is Angela Bassett's favorite horror film). 45 Acres is supposed to be great. Eve's Bayou is horror-adjacent, and just an all-around excellent film. His House is likewise supposed to be great, and stars your girlfriend (wife?) Wunmi Mosaku in the lead. Attack the Block is essential viewing and a non-stop great time and offers a really unique, really cool creature design for its aliens. It was John Boyega's (who Hollywood has failed) star-making role. Then there is the immortal classic Dawn of the Dead, which carried on the tradition of George Romero making his lead a Black Man because he damn well felt like it. Though that casting may have been less impactful in 1978 than it was in 1968, it's still the role that put Ken Foree on the horror map. It's also the greatest zombie film ever made (it's awful, miss-the-point remake directed by *gag* Zack Snyder has its fans but they have no taste, so....) . And the extended director's cut (139 minutes) is just a damn masterpiece. Scary, funny, smart, satirical, gory as hell (zombie gore n' guts) and the blueprint by which nearly all zombie cinema emulates to this day. The Walking Dead exists because Robert Kirkman wanted a world where Dawn of the Dead's world never ended, which is primarily how most people feel when the film, unfortunately, ends. It's somehow strewn with viscera and ripped n' shredded flesh AND cozy simultaneously. It's definitely one of the classic building blocks of horror cinema that this channel is missing. The absolute highest recommendation. You probably did Lovecraft Country already, huh? If not, how the hell are we not doing Lovecraft Country already? Though, that is admittedly, a series. And the presence of Jonathan Majors now makes that an iffy proposition. The very first Purge (or part one, not to be confused with The First Purge) doesn't offer much for the Black experience, but each entry, mostly, becomes more aligned with telling these stories from the perspective of its various casts of Color. Which is to say that it drops the subtext and becomes text. Every bit as urgent today as they ever were. Bones and All, also a great pick for Valentine's Day, blessedly offers up Taylor Russell as an "eater" opposite Timothée Chalamet, two lovers afflicted with a...particular hunger. There is The Angry Black Girl and Her Monster, if you're feeling like an alt-take on Frankenstein. But you're already doing Lisa Frankenstein. So yeah, that was...a list. lol

Pop Shocked James!

Alanda omg actress who plays Lexi tweeted "hey old friend" rumors have it they have been secretly filming a sequel to season 3 of Chucky in movie form in Canada. I believe this because the whole cast including Jennifer and Alex Vincent have stated that they will return in movie form I hope this is happening now been waiting to find out what happens after the massive cliffhanger in S3. So there's hope we will see soon! I know you haven't made it there yet but just wanted u to know so when you do see the finale you won't be as upset

Donna

Yep to all of these!!! I've seen all of these and enjoyed them all...especially Demon Knight. I just found out yesterday that the director of Final Destination 2 wanted the lead to be a black girl/woman!!! The only survivor was actually supposed be a black woman...which tracks

Donna

It's already been suggested, and I know you've probably already seen it...you and my wife's "His House" and the Blacula series. Love ya!!!

Dank The Poet

Companion / Heart Eyes 😍 pls for this month.

🌌Cosmic Giraffe🌌

LISA FRANKENSTEIN AND YOUR MONSTER LFGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!! 💥💥💥💥 Mother Alanda is FEEDING us this month!! 🩷🩷

Elle

Lisa Frankenstein- I haven’t watched it yet, so it would be fun to watch it with you

Jae

YESSS im so excited ❤️

Jae

Omg i love heart eyes

Byron Halsey

Some of my favorites in no particular order: -Us -Get out -Nope -Queen of the damned — the last movie Aaliyah was featured in -Night of the living dead -Attack the block -Eve’s Bayou - more of a thriller but has horror and supernatural elements Sorry to Bother you Bones - I’ll never defend this as a great film but I like it! Definitely more camp than horror -The strange thing about the Johnsons - one I don’t see mentioned a lot but it’s Ari Astor’s first short film and, as you could imagine, the concept is one of the most disturbing and twisted I’ve EVER seen.

Rafael Salazar

Heart Eyes is a good horror comedy for February 🫡

Lou Greed

Can we do more cheesy 80s slashers like Sleepaway Camp? Your reaction to Sleepaway Camp II is my favorite reaction of all time 😂

Janet Michelle- You Caught Me

I suggested Nosferatu and got lots of agreement so please put it on the poll! It's truly a horror film crafted with such care, plus you've seen It now so seeing Bill S. play Count Orlok in it is a revelation plus Lily-Rose Depp's performance physically/emotionally is incredible. It's such a gorgeous/haunting movie.

Stephen King

Also in a way its a Horror Romance movie

Super Nova Studios

Girl we need to see nosferatu this valentines day, such a romantic film... 😑

Jesse Morales

Hi! I have a question and maybe you answered it but what are your plans for Scream 7?

Tre’

TEXAS CHAINSAW 3D !!

Janet Michelle- You Caught Me

Definitely! I suggested it for Love Month, because it truly shows every kind of love/relationship you can have from the best of friendships, to a co-dependent relationship between two really good people just trying their best to EVILLLL and also the relationship of loving/trusting yourself. It's everything!! It's also just so beautifully made and I know she'd appreciate the gothic horror beauty and the PERFORMANCES!

💜 Chan 💜

Happy Black History Month 🖤💜❤️💚💛

Jeremiah Riley💏

A black horror movie you can watch is the woman in the yard. This one is actually really good I loved the ending

LaTrese Harris

Happy Black History Month to you too! I look forward to this line up!

Janet Michelle- You Caught Me

Yess! I dressed as Jupe (you'll know which costume lol) for Halloween one year and was so shocked at how no one could guess who I was. Nope is very underrated for being a Jordan Peele movie, haha. I think you'd love it.

M Amoor

Have we done Blade before? Not sure if Blade is considered straight horror or not? For February.

Braven Burris

please try to sneak in heart eyes😍

Derek G.

I’d love to see you react to the scream tv series

Amari L.

For black movies, it’s not really a horror but more so a sci-fi, did you ever watch They Cloned Tyrone on Netflix? I love that movie!!!

Des

Hey will you react to scream trailer?

Des

Did she say why?

Janet Michelle- You Caught Me

She's not doing any reacting to Scream. She explains how she feels in the beginning of her Youtube Abigail video :)

Bloodredcherry-fic

Alanda, will you ever go back to revisit the Predator series again. I feel like you'd really like Prey and Predators is a hoot.

Stephen King

omg yes i would die for a Prey reaction
