It's time to vote! Seven match-ups. One vote each. Make it count!

Rewind Time! In the last round Captain Picard vs Captain Jack Sparrow sailed home to victory with an impressive 32% of the total votes. In second place was the long term suggestion of The Three Stooges vs The Three Musketeers with 17%.

Let's see how this new selection of seven ideas shake out. :)

Make a vader vs hitler option puh puh puh pleeeease. If you get bugs bunny and sonic it better be big chungus and he better say it stinks, nice and good dammit

Eda Bagwell

I love you guys, but most of these aren’t really good choices 😅

Shawn Ravenfire

I think a better match for Orson Wells would be Tommy Wiseau or Ed Wood (greatest director vs worst director). Sonic might be better suited for Speedy Gonzales or someone like that. I would say Sonic vs Mario, but Mario already went up against the Wrights. (Come to think of it, John Lennon was already in a battle. I think you should exhaust the list of new characters before revisiting old ones.) A better adversary for Bugs Bunny would be Mickey Mouse, but that might run the risk of hitting several of the same notes as Walt Disney.

Blast-Ended Gaming

I like the BTS vs Beatles idea but I worry about what would happen if you insult BTS. Their fans are legit psychotic.

Shawn Ravenfire

Stern vs Rogan could work in a Wolfman Jack cameo.

Joseph Fortwengler

Ford vs Marx is very strong, and I voted 4 it, but Bugs Vs Sonic also I feel has some potential. Both characters are very big and I don't see many good matchups for them.

Bret Ceren

I voted for Ford v Marx, but I think the Stern v Rogan would be good IF Musk makes a cameo to have a crossover between their respective battles.

Bret Ceren

Oh, and Tony Soprano vs Tommy Shelby. Make it happen!

erb

It's a mixed bag. I think the theme "Opposites Attract" caused a few more more weird suggestions than normal. And we always include at least 2 matchups that fit the theme. But weird can sometimes be great.

Christian N

I like Welles so it was a pleasant (and kind of bewildering, this being my first #MakeThisBattle) surprise to see a matchup that "is never happening" in the list. I think Mel Brooks would make an entertaining opponent for Welles.

erb

Don't worry. We say statements like that often and change our minds! There was a time when Pete never liked the idea of Gates vs Jobs, Bond vs Powers or Joker vs Pennywise.

The Stupendium

Whilst GlaDOS is a cool character I can't fathom why she'd go against Rambo, she'd be better used in some sort of battle of the A.I.s, GlaDOS vs Hal 9000 (as I type this I realise he's already appeared in Gates vs Jobs, whoops!), maybe bring in some other iconic ones for a group battle? Would be a cool and challenging battle to visualise as well. I like Wells v Chaplin, so that gets my vote. I also really like Marx v Ford though I always hoped to see Marx v Ayn Rand at some point, much the same premise ideologically but Rand goes HARD into Capitalism and Objectivism.

Eoghan Sheehan

Rand vs Marx is definitely heated as all hell. It would end in a shouting match and I kind of love that lol.

Christian N

Cool. That's wild, that Pete wasn't initially keen on Joker v Pennywise.

Leo M. R.

Rather than Bugs vs. Mickey, I kind of rather Daffy vs. Donald. Those two have way more personality and wouldn't run the risk of redoing Walt. Surprise appearances from other cartoon ducks (Darkwing, anyone?) would also be possible and, if done right, stupidly hilarious.

Leo M. R.

For once there was only one match I liked on this list. It's, uh, definitely an eclectic collection of ideas! And what is ERB if not eclectic and off-the-wall?

JessicaRose

I absolutely LOVE GLaDOS!! And have almost suggested her several times. But I don't understand her with Rambo, so I didn't vote for her. I just think there could be a more epic match-up for the AI version of me.

Glen Dorland

GLaDOS is AWESOME! From her voice to her demeanor to her games. She would be awesome for ERB.

Terodon

I look at some of these and I'm like "I don't see what these have to do with each other." I look at others and I'm like "Who even are these people? Rogan? McMahon? BTS? I don't claim to be the most historically literate, but these sound like throwaway references from Family Guy." But Henry Ford (antisemitic capitalist) and Karl Marx (early communist philosopher) makes sense for a battle. Let's do that.

Shawn Ravenfire

I agree. Marx vs Rand would be the better battle.

Amanda & Adam Belaire

Joe Rogan is a radio personality, like Howard Stern Vince McMahon is the owner of WWE/WWF who treats his wrestlers like slaves, to which Spartacus was at one point. BTS is a band.

Juakohawk

I also voted for Ford vs Marx, because it just makes sense, but I've always wanted to see the Beatles in an ERB, it has been my dream since seeing Pete as John Lennon. Sadly, it does require a huge production because their opponent has to be a band and the biggest bands nowadays are KPOP bands. OR, you could have them in an ERB alone, like starting together as a band and slowly starting to dish out against each other, like the Philosophers battle. The Beatles Lore is heavy on drama from side to side, specially towards the end of their run, so you can start with the mop heads singing love covers and ending with them full bearded, weird outfits and dissolving the band. (could be a sad ending like that or a sweet ending in seeing Paul and Ringo as old people remembering fondly on George and John in Heaven).

James A. Whitney

Ford vs Marx is the clear winner for me here, though Bugs vs Sonic is a damn close second. Rogan vs Stern isn't bad either. Who the hell is BTS?

The Bird Connection

I'd love to see you in a battle with them one of these days Stu.

Erik Bell

So, why are they including battles they hate? All of these characters (except Joe Rogan) deserve to be in a battle of some kind, why not list the ones that they think actually work? And Orson Welles definitely deserves to be in a battle some time.

SwanSong

Ford v Marx gang.

Roseblade

Beatles represents the British Invasion in music. BTS represents the Kpop Invasion. Both are different era but have world wide fans. The Beatles had its ups and downs and eventually broke up, while BTS is more A unit. BTS was even dub the modern Beatles but they hate being referred to that. BTS also has a signature jester were they make finger guns and go “Bang Bang”. As you can see how that could be used in A diss.

Roseblade

The one of the most famous Kpop groups of all time. They were even called The Modern Beatles

Roseblade

I would love for it to be Live Action but Lego could also work for this match up

Michael Fairbairn

Wow, my matchup made it in. I'm a little surprised they picked this one (GLaDOS vs Rambo) because I don't think it was the best matchup I came up with, I was mostly going all out on the opposites attract theme (Man vs Machine).

James A. Whitney

Gotcha. That explains why I've never heard of them, neither myself nor anyone I know listens to Kpop. (Not making a statement on its quality, just not my kind of thing.)

Alvin Franco

Nice job getting picked though! I was thrown off by that one. But now that I understand your reasoning, I appreciate it more! For a similar “Man vs Machine,” idea, probably something like John Henry vs GLaDOS could work to include more of a “ history” angle.
