We did it... the EXTENDED CUT - and honestly... it flew by! This movie is incredible and holds up so well. The pacing, design, and characters are timeless. Buckle up, there are SO MANY epic moments in this one folks!

not sure why but my "High Seas ;) " copy (03:48:17) de-syncs around 01:53:03 at the sting sword scene, to re-sync i used the boys scream when Bilbo tries to grab the ring as a sync point. Sync Point: (Movie)01:53:50:12 > (Commentary) 01:54:00:10 just align their scream and you will be golden for the rest of the movie.

Ok, some tips about pausing the movie if you need breaks. Don't play back in reverse. You gotta start playing them in the same order you paused them. Also, I like to give myself a 3 second count when I pause. Pause the movie, 3 seconds, pause the commentary track. When I'm back, Play the movie, 3 seconds, play the track. Good luck!

(None of this is mentioned in the movies, but its spoiler-free) Samwise calls Frodo "Mr. Frodo" because Frodo is older than Samwise. Frodo is 50 and Sam is 38 (hobbits kind of age weirdly). The new orcs you see coming from the ground are called Black uruks, they're just special orcs bred to be stronger. Aragorn is a different class of man (the only difference is that his lifespan is a little bit longer than regular men.) He spent a lot of time with the elves during his childhood, so that's why he knows them, their language, and is boning one. If you're wondering why the 9 kings fell and not the elves or dwarves when Sauron tricked them with the rings was because the elves sensed it and hid 3 of their strongest rings (that scary elf lady possesses one of them) and the others were destroyed, dwarves were too hard-headed for the influence (but did make them greedy for gold and that led to their demise later on), and the men fell and became the Nazguls bc they all had sub 10 intellect. I think this was a question, but the reason why the one ring seemed to kind of do nothing for the user (besides extending their life span and turning them invisible) is that the ring's power depends on the power of the wielder. Think of it as a skill gap. You need 60 int to use the weapon art and everybody except Gandalf, Saruman, that elf lady (people with exceptional magical ability) can use it to its full extent.

This world is SO deep, and there are so many hints of things in other books like the Hobbit and the Silmarillion - for instance, one of the most famous elves to ever exist asked Galadriel (scary elf-queen/witch) for a hair of hers to make some magic elvish bullshit in the Silmarillion, but she refused him. Gimli asked for one hair, and she gave him three. It was a HUGE symbolic gesture between elves and dwarves.

Believe it or not most of the large structures like Isengard tower and the other big cities and castles are physical miniatures they added in post so they could match the landscape camera sweeping with the miniature set, I just thought that was a cool detail
