Seeing this film again after so many years later was such a treat. It's so god damn good. Everything, just like Fellowship, holds up so well.

Seems to be pretty many instances of sync errors in the Lord of the Rings movies for some reason. All sources claim to be the same(that being the Extended edition), but evidently they are not :P.

viggo mortensen the guy that played Aragon broke his foot when he kicked the helmet in the scene when they thought the Hobbits died. The scream was him breaking his foot.

YOUCH - I feel like we definitely have to watch a "making-of" for LOTR... There's always such cool Easter eggs and backstories to individual shots.

offset is about 4:18 between commentary and movie if you inevitably need to retime this lengthy masterpiece

We had a hiccup around 3 hr mark - HBO Max began to buffer. We went in afterward and stitched the audio track timing back till it matched perfectly. At what point did you have an offset in audio?

Oh yeah no I just meant if you lose your spot you can take whatever time you're at in the movie, add 4:18, and that's where you should be at in the commentary. I haven't noticed any desync yet 👍

Just so you know, Elijah Wood and Sean Astin weren’t acting with a tennis ball for the gollum scenes…Andy Serkis acted with them in a green-screen-body suit and was replaced with CGI in post. Puts the Star Wars prequels to shame

pops asked how many takes it took for gandalf's horse to run up to him. they got it on the first take. Gandalf was resurrected by the god of Middle-earth. he's one of only 3 people (i think) in the history of Middle-earth to be resurrected. And Boringmir/Failamir is the hardest I've laughed in weeks.

great commentary. Gandalf is the biggest EXP whore though. Dude made his crew lure the Balrog and run down a mountain just so he could solo it when it was at low HP to collect the buff. Then does it again at the last second at the orc war

There was a weird sync error right from the start- on the 4K blu ray there must be some more after the new line/black screen sync time because I had to eventually pause the dub for like 45 seconds to get it back to syncing before the first mountain shot even happened. It’s so strange because it worked perfectly on fellowship and everything described here made sense; I was at 17 seconds on the disc just like on HBO. Then instantly I was behind while you were describing the mountains and hearing Gandalf while I was still looking at title cards lol. the dub is 3:51 ahead of the runtime of the 4K discs, once you correct the initial sync error. First disc is 1:46:38 so when you start disc 2 the dub should be at 1:50:29.

Actually there was another error: around the 1 hour mark the dub jumped ahead again. So it went back to 4:32 ahead lol. Either the patreon app was glitching or there’s some cut dialog on HBO between Aragorn and Gandalf.
