My dog is my soulmate. 

Growing up, we didn't really have pets. For a brief time we had a little Chihuahua we fed chicken and rice and, over the years, various indoor/outdoor cats came and went. 

Although I loved animals, I always assumed I was a cat person because dogs kinda scared me (I was attacked by a dalmatian when I was little). When I was recovering from my suicide attempts, I bonded with my brother's Labrador when I discovered it made a great running buddy; that dog's excitement about going for a run was the only reason I would get out of bed.  

I got Copper as a gift from a boyfriend who wanted his dog to have a buddy. I fell in love with her the moment she went to sleep in my lap on our way home from picking her out. 

Taking care of her gives my life so much purpose and her endless well of energy keeps me motivated. I'm so grateful to the photographers that tolerate her during shoots, even when she gets clingy and wants to go home, like she did here. Lol.
