I kinda liked Alan's idea of Akila finding out on the date that Sam is an alcoholic. And as he walks away despondent, Sam slurs - Akila willa always be the pilla....and my soulmate. (charades reference).

What they should have done is make Alan a zombie hungry for brains. He'd walk in on Sam & Akila's date with the classic zombie line "Brains!" But he runs into Sammy first and simply greets her in courteous plain English and asks her how she's doing. Then he moves on to Akila and proceeds to eat his brain.
