Hell yes! 👏

Emily

💯 Can’t wait to listen to this episode!

Ren

This promises to be a good episode with an extensive bibliography as well 👍. Will listen soon .

Brent

I once tried explaining Zionism to my wife. As soon as I began with “thousands of years ago” she just stopped me, and said, “never mind, I don’t care.”

Paul

Thank you for covering Zionism. Now do “Russia, Ukraine and NATO.” Lol.

I hope Israel’s “right” to exist continues to be discussed and challenged. So called “progressive” politicians and commentators shouldn’t get away with hiding behind the “liberal Zionist” label. Great ep as always.

Really glad Julian made the comment about the Europeans facilitating a Jewish self-expulsion after WWII. I have thought this for a while and got a lot of criticism for voicing it even among anti-Zionists. But the allies didn’t go to war for the Jewish people, they went to war to protect themselves from a dictator with imperial ambitions. They weren’t exactly *not* antisemitic. Plus you have to remember that the early Israelis were not kind to Holocaust survivors. Great ep! Glad to hear this topic discussed with the nuance and detail it deserves.

This is a much needed episode. Thank you guys.

Sorry to be that guy but I’ve heard Aliyah pronounced by Jews in Israel and the US as “a-lee-YAH”, not “a-LIE-yuh”. Not to be confused with Aaliyah, whose name is pronounced “a-LEE-yuh” as evidenced by me being alive in the 1990’s when she was prolific and also tragically lost in a plane crash. All that said, FREE FREE PALESTINE!! 🇵🇸❤️

why is Laocoön the mascot for this podcast?

So glad to see other ppl bring up Theodor Hurrtzl, had had some pretty alarming choice quotes back then like how the Zionist project would need the suffering of the Jews to achieve success and how it will effectively break up working class Jewish organising and movements. All very eyebrow raising. And that ain't even getting into Edwin Montagu the only Jewish MP in British parliament when the Balfour declaration was being processed, trying to speak out against it pointing to the rabid support the project has from even the two largest antisemetic right wing rags in UK at the time. History conveniently forgets whatever makes the colonial machine look morally unpalatable , or really resurface at all in the minds of mainstream citizens.

Nathan B

I just started saying “no” and leave it there.

Nathan B

This should be a series and maybe a history of Massad.

There’s a really good YouTube video of Matt Bernstein and Emma Vigeland asking Mallory McMorrow about her support of Israel. It’s amazing how irritated these dems get when challenged on this.

With all due respect, this has never been a podcast. This is a lecture series. I'm not against it and have been a patron from the start. Just need to point that out

Governments shouldn't function like a gamer playing a civilization builder game. Populations are more than just a counter by a hex.
