Just want to say this podcast has been consistently killing it and is well worth cost of entry

The pronunciation fandom will NOT be happy with this episode

Libertarians are easy to get along with, but their ideology is inherently superficial. They essentially have to accept that roads grow in the wild to reconcile their beliefs, and if they dig too deep they risk becoming the unabomber.

Overzealous Euthanasiast

There is one ongoing libertarian outpost in Honduras called Prospera, or in the words they choose to label themselves with : a libertarian project, functioning as a private, charter-style "start-up city" or "network state" built on free-market and deregulation ideals. Guess who's behind that one oooh I bet you can't guess! Their name rhymes with "Gee Pa Meal!" It maybe is worth a whole separate episode though, I dunno, I keep hearing of more shenanigans they been up to on a semi regular basis.

For all its flaws, libertarianism does have some good ideas, especially with regard to decentralization of power. And since 2016 most of the racist elements of the movement have defected to maga.

The 20th century will be the graveyard for Libertarian ideology. Their conceptual underpinnings have expired. Its atavistic obsession with individualism has no vision for an emancipatory future for both humans and planet Earth.

QAA premium episode 204: Prospera, City of the Future, feat Riley Quinn. It was 3 years ago so maybe an update is due either on here or QAA.

Humans are basically social animals. I don’t believe a pure libertarian society can exist long term without making concessions to ensure safety and survival. The whole ethos is just depressing to me.

Overzealous Euthanasiast

Yeah have got that one, am perhaps being kinda hopeful on a possible update though is fine either way, no intent to backseat podcast here lol. more curious on if it passed the mentions for any particular reason, or if it's a different genre or if I'm just overestimating its relevance+ concern factor. Google results on it seem a little charitable lately, when I checked to make sure it wasn't a false memory lol.

Brendan Doherty

This is the only discussion of libertarians from anyone left of center I’ve come across that did not include a single mention of the age of consent laws.

Missed the hilarious side plot of Free State-ers moving to Grafton NH, defunding local govt - including trash collection - and the subsequent take over of the town by bears
