MBL: Holidays (Clean Panels) (Patreon)
Content
The clean panels of the MBL holiday comics I made between 2022 and 2024. I've mentioned the process behind them on dA, but long story short, these were mainly made as a way to give myself a break from working on the MBL proper. Looking back on it, it kinda makes no sense, stopping work on the MBL...to work on more MBL. But I still enjoyed working on them.
Ironically enough, these were the only wins Amy had to her name for a bit. She had lost both her attempts to capture a championship in the first two weeks of the MBL (one of those, admittedly, was not my choice), and when I first made her Christmas-themed fight with Sticks, she was supposed to lose. Of course, people REALLY don't like it when Amy loses, or at least, those who follow the MBL. Not that this is a problem. But I guess I'm of the opinion that if a character looks good while winning, they'll look good while losing too.
Speaking of looking good, for Valentine's of 2023, there was a vote held to see who Rouge would face for Valentine's Day. I initially expected everyone to vote for someone like Shadow or Knuckles (I even mentioned Tails as a joke lol) but Vanilla was chosen instead, surprisingly. I mean, if people want to see more of that, akin to what I'm doing with Honey and Tails, I'll do it, but it did surprise me. Strangely enough, despite being a champion in the MBL, when she doesn't defend her title, Rouge loses quite a bit. The first Christmas special against Sticks, and losing twice against Vanilla so far.
Then, for the next year, we had Amy vs. Sonic for Valentine's of 2024. This comic ended up making all the Holiday themed ones that came before it canon, if only because it made no sense for this comic to be the only one that fit somewhere into the story. I was debating introducing Surge as a love interest for Amy instead, but I decided against it since at the time, if I recall correctly, not much was known about Surge anyways, and it was a good way to reset the admittedly botched storyline that was happening with Amy. Surprisingly enough, there was a possibility for Amy to lose this match too, but it wasn't entertained for more than a few moments at best. Ultimately, as pompous as it sounds, my approach with MBL is to show the characters in a more mature, grown light (especially since the characters are much older than their canon counterparts). I think with every important encounter, either inside or outside of the ring, something about that exchange should provide a chance for growth.
Anyways, I've waxed enough poetic about this set of well endowed Sonic characters beating each other up in a boxing ring. There will be more to come soon. I think I've caught up with what I've posted to dA (exclusively, at the least), so now it's just a matter of posting the clean renders of Weeks 1-3. If there's a demand for it, I'll also post the unedited renders of the tournament as well.
See you all next time!
