What an episode!! 😫 We were honestly trying so hard to understand Beom Seok but he just pissed us off this episode. 🙄

The character development is CRAZY!!

Question of the Day: Is Beomseok heading down a bad path, or just misunderstood?

I think he is both going down a bad path and misunderstood. I dont think he knows the extent of his actions if that makes sense and we all know the saying: Hurt people, hurt people.”

mitzy

I think Beomseok acts this way because it’s how he defends himself from the abuse. Now that he is part of the bullies, he feels like he has power, and that means he won’t be bullied anymore. It’s a defense mechanism, he becomes part of them because he doesn’t want to get hurt by them. I think he is deeply traumatized, and I don’t blame him for acting that way.

Serendipityinthesea

I also think that suho does have some faults in his behavior towards beomseok.

Just wait until you see the next episode omg your not ready 😭😭😭

iTanasia

beomseok is my favorite character because i always gravitate towards the misunderstood. he IS going down the wrong path but i completely understand how he got here!

mitzy

I don’t think Suho is to blame. He hasn’t done anything wrong. It’s just that Beomseok is really insecure and has a twisted perspective of reality. He thinks he’s being left out when he actually isn’t, and he also feels like Suho thinks he’s inferior. That’s why he’s so obsessed with social media and stuff like that because he wants people to think he’s cool. Suho actually considers him a friend. I just think he doesn’t really understand how Beomseok feels. But to be fair, how could he know if Beomseok doesn’t say anything

Serendipityinthesea

By the way the UFC Fighter is one of my fav actors his name is Cha Woo min and i feel like you guys would love his famous kdramas to check out next cu i def recommend: - night has come (thriller and mystery highschool game of mafia but they really die) - Study Group (just like weak hero but with more iconic and comic like fighting scenes)

You’re not ready for the next two episodes, guys prepare yourselves 👀

Shadow Glow

I felt like I was going to rip my head off while watching that episode. I gotta say, kudos to the actor who plays Beomseok, he's doing a really good job, cause I'm kinda hating him rn lol

Wow, this episode was crazy familia...

To be honest I understand where Beom-seok is coming from....his whole life he did not receive love, did not have friends, has been picked on and bullied everywhere.....I kinda agree with Suho too that Beom-seok wanted to be a part of the cool group so he has that place socially but i totally understand Beom-seok...BUT that does not give him a pass on what he is doing and does not justify his actions.... If you notice now...he is sitting on Young-bin's seat in the school...he's literally taken his place...a true bully/antagonist now....I will still say he is misunderstood and I get why he is being like this....but that doesn't justify his actions I am so waiting for your reactions to the next episodes aaaghhhhh

tesalonika

i hope the worst for that loser beomseok. hate his character so much

fallinblue

Most rage-bait episode ever. Si-eun literally did nothing to Beom-seok and he was so cruel and rude 😫

J-Lee

Beom-seok is a sick human being. Like I know he didn't grow up in a very good environment, but trauma shouldn't be used to justify one's wrongdoing. Si-eun didn't grow up with too much love too from his divorced parents. But still, he has a good character. I understand they're teens and are still learning in life, decisions could be bound to be wrong at times - but it's human nature to be good if you really are one.

J-Lee

Suho, as you can see, must be the "top dog" of the school, everyone's afraid of him. BUTTTT he still falls in line and knows how to follow rules and respect others. He never used this power for his advantage. That's why he is a lovable and admirable guy for me 🤧

J-Lee

Familia, I think you didn't get this idea at first - it seemed to me that Beom-seok liked Suho in a different way. Like a little crush. He's been looking at his IG like a fanboy. And then he got jealous of Yeong-i bcos he thought they're in a relationship. Then he's mad that his feelings were not returned. Beom-seok is an effing coward gay 😡

J-Lee

Can't wait for next weekend, familia! It's gonna be peaakkk!! 🥹🤧🙌🏻

Judith Lopez

familia i can finally say it i didnt want to spoil anything I HATE BEOMSEOK CHARACTER SOOOO MUCH (never liked it from the beginning honestly)

bub

beomseok is the definition of hurt people hurt people. there's really no excusing his actions though, esp towards suho and sieun. none of the characters in tis show are flat, they all have a lot of layers to them

TJ Braille

I'm definitely team Sieun and Suho all the way. I don't think any of Beomseok's actions are excusable at all at this point. I literally lost all sympathy for him. Even though he got Tiger Woods-ed by his father, (as Uthman said, which was perfect commentary, by the way, haha) I just don't even care anymore because nothing defends how he treated Suho and Sieun after everything they've done for him and all of the memories they shared together. He's a POS if you ask me

Gia

Beomseok really crossed the line cuz he could literally killed Suho with the motorcycle accident. I understand him and feel bad about his past bullying and family situation, but that doesn't justify his action to Suho... Suho's been very patient with Beomseok and tried hard to understand him even after the karaoke incident last episode. I'm so done with him

Gia

And Beomseok's problem is not from Suho's Instagram acc. If you watch the deleted scene of whc1, Suho directly told Bumseok that he doesn't really care about Instagram. Before you start episode 7, it would be nice to watch the deleted scene(abt 1 min). Here's the link! https://youtu.be/O46i7qZIC2w?si=nfKdkeMeDcxjjcOl

iTanasia

trauma isnt really the justification but the explanation

J-Lee

Yep that's why I said it shouldn't be used to justify his actions

Ramsha😔☺️

11:48 When Suho said "He thought we made him look like a big shot". He wasn't entirely wrong in my opinion, because Beomseok himself doesn't care about being powerful as long as he's perceived to be powerful. To which he achieves by surrounding himself with the strongest person in the room. I was recently rewatching Weak Hero and if you notice in Ep 2 when Beomseok decides to attempt friendship with Sieun, it's easy to assume it's out of guilt for drugging him. However, if you pay attention to the sequence of scenes in Ep 2 and his first impression of Sieun in Ep 1, if Sieun didn't beat tf out of Youngbin, Beomseok probably wouldn't have become friends with him. In Ep 1, he actually avoids Sieun because of the marks on Sieun's neck (from being choked by Youngbin's lackey and Beomseok's future bff) as he perceived Sieun to be bullied, therefore, weak or a loser like himself. During Ep 2, after Sieun beats up Youngbin, you can see Beomseok observing Sieun from the distance, but not daring to approach him. The question is, is it due to his guilt? or because of Sieun's new reputation? It can be interpreted either way. If you notice the pattern, Beomseok is always trying to protect himself, therefore, allies himself with the most powerful such as: first Youngbin (Ep 1) then SuhoSieun (2-4) then the bullies (5-8). What stood out to me the most, is that Beomseok does not approach Sieun for friendship UNTIL he overhears his classmates gossiping about how powerful SuhoSieun becoming friends is, since Sieun beat up Youngbin and Suho was almost a UFC fighter. If you watch the scene where he approaches Sieun, he leads with small talk; Asking about his cram school, without even apologizing for drugging him. To which Sieun of course gives him the cold shoulder and says, "IF you were to apologize, I wouldn't accept it". In my interpretation, him not leading with an apology further proved that he didn't approach Sieun with genuine intentions of friendship. If he was motivated by guilt, he would've led with an apology and taken responsibility instead of trying to become friends first. Now, I'm not saying he's some mastermind manipulator, he did care about them, but due to his personal history he viewed people as either predator or prey. This mindset is what led him into this friendship with skewed intentions and led him to sabotaging it, because he was essentially projecting his own mindset on to SuhoSieun. Anyway, my apologies for the mini-analysis. I just love noticing certain nuances about this show and overanalyzing them since it's so character-driven. There's just so much depth.

A little late to the discussion of your reaction to this excellent drama. Real life gets in the way of virtual life. 😅 I'll try to catch up this weekend. Some thoughts after watching, if I may. I feel bad for Beomseok because he's been abused all his life by his father and bullied and it's clear that he has a ton of trauma and is projecting his own insecurities onto both Sooho and the girl. however at this point he's going down a path that is going to be past redemption and he needs to be held accountable for his actions. in this episode alone he could've killed Sooho or seriously injured him. it doesn't matter how much you suffer in life, you should never project that onto innocent people. Sooho is litteraly just chilling and Beomseok is over here trying to ruin him for no reason other than his own insecurities. Thanks for your reaction. 💕 Can't wait for the next episodes, it gets crazy.
