RWBY Silver Eyed Warrior Chapter 12: Another Date (Patreon)

Pangs and needles spread across Corvo’s left arm, the faint pain rousing him from his sleep. He turned his head, trying to blink away his grogginess. Neo’s dual colored head of hair rested on his shoulder, her faint breaths brushing against his chest and neck, an arm and leg throw over his body.
He curled that numb arm over, reaching over to brush the front of her hair, specifically the few white strands among the pink side.
So far there wasn’t anything he didn’t enjoy doing with her. At first, he thought it had to do with how unpredictable she was but that couldn’t really be it. He was enjoying lying around with her like this, nothing at all going on.
He still had no idea what was drawing him to her, but something definitely was.
Corvo moved over a little, pecking her forehead. Either woken up by that or sometime during his playing of her hair, she responded in kind, leaning forward to kiss his neck. He recoiled from it immediately, Neo groggily giving him a questioning look with a single eye.
“Sorry, I guess that was a ticklish spot for me.”
That was the wrong thing to say.
His laughs soon filled the room, Neo pinning him below her and deciding right then and there that she was going to find every ticklish spot he had. She didn’t stop no matter what he said or did, his laughs drying up and sides beginning to hurt. His attempts to roll away from her only ended up with him carrying out the assault on his back.
It wasn’t until his scroll, on the nearby end table, went off that she stopped, letting him reach over and grab as she laid herself on his back, looking over his shoulder.
A text from his mother reminding him about afternoon training and checking on him. Then another from Ruby making sure he was coming back for the same thing. While he responded to both, another message popped up.
“Pyrrha?” He muttered, clicking on the notification. His scroll vanished from his hands, Neo rolling off his back as she looked the message over herself. Though she’d been friendly, he’d heard that when dating someone being seen and associating with another attractive girl was a spot for jealousy. And Pyrrha definitely fell into that category.
He decided to let Neo have at whatever she was thinking, her reading soon changing to typing. By the time she handed the scroll back to him she was nodding to herself as if she accomplished some kind of goal.
Rather than finding any messages that could’ve been a sign of hidden jealousy, he now apparently had plans to meet up with Pyrrha later in the day.
“You’re not coming with us?” He asked, scroll set aside. Neo shook her head then began to make gestures, which confused him at first.
Then left him shocked.
XOXO
“You guys actually used the beach there?”
“Generally only during the summers. Argus tends to get rather cold outside of that season.”
“You weren’t worried about Grimm? I kind of remember there being a beach back on Patch, but it was always too dangerous for us to use.”
“Patch? That’s the island just beyond the city, isn’t it?”
“Yep, that’s where I was born before we moved to the city.”
“I see. Well in Argus’s case, I believe that the Atlas Military had a base built along it for commercial purposes. They go out of the way to keep all the nearby waters clear of Grimm for trade.”
“The more you know.” Corvo said nodding. “Is it all that different from indoor pools?”
Compared to the other day, rather than spending all their time in a crowded mall or putting most of their focus on a movie, he and Pyrrha sat on an isolated bench in one of Vale’s many parks. The experience was whole lot more intimate? That might not be the right word, but he wasn’t focused on showing her around or something like a long movie but just her. Even at the small stand they’d gotten food from before this, eating wasn’t really the focus.
He’d been a little unsure if this was the sort of thing she wanted to bother with when she sent that text, but they’d mutually agreed that they didn’t want to deal with another crowded place.
With them choosing a spot further along a trail in the park with only the occasional joggers passing them and trees all around, it didn’t really get much less crowded than that.
Differences between Mistral and Vale, their hobbies, other little things. He’d never been good at small talk, or any prolonged conversation with others really, a bit of that blame on a few different things, his general lack of interest at the forefront. Maybe it was because they’d already fought, Pyrrha proving herself to be one of the few not to mind his approach to fighting, that alone making her interesting to him.
There was also her looks. He couldn’t just blame the ideas Neo went and put into his head before this since he already caught himself looking at her the other day, but it didn’t wasn’t help his focus at all.
This must be what led to all the people in his classes trying their luck with the most popular students despite not really knowing them all that well.
“-but it looks like it’s getting late.” Pyrrha finished, looking up towards the orange skies, a majority of the sun already dipping below the park’s tallest trees.
“Yeah, but we can always hang out again.” Corvo said, looking up and admiring the view alongside Pyrrha and before looking her way. “I can walk you back if you want.” Honestly it felt like a stupid offer to give to someone who’d beat him up without even being dressed for a fight. Not that anything ever happened in this part of the city at this time anyways.
It was more about spending more time together than anything else.
Looking down from the horizon, her smile grew a little. “I would like that.”
Together they set off from the bench, walking their way through the nature filled park once more. There was no real pep behind their steps, more small talk exchanged and the walk taking far longer than it should’ve. Even when they got in front of the hotel she was staying at, they spent a few minutes talking just outside the doors.
What Neo had said, well said in her way, jumped straight to the front of his mind but doubt was quick to follow.
Was it some kind of test? No that was stupid.
But did he really understand what she was getting at in the first place? He had no idea why, but she never bothered with the sign language she exchanged with his mother or just write down what she wanted to say, forcing him to rely on his understanding of all her motions and signals.
So far, he had a pretty good track record when it came to understanding her but the signals she’d sent out with was nothing like anything they got up to so far.
“Corvo.” Pyrrha called out, a slight crack in her voice forcing her to clear her throat, red dusting her cheeks. “I don’t believe its too late. Would y-you like to come up for a bit?”
All this might not be his forte, but he was pretty sure he understood what all that meant.
The reluctance he was wrestling with crumbled away instantly.
