I'm not sure what he's asking about. I get the feeling it could either be "Why are you not afraid of walking into a trap of your enemy" (he sure is worried about it, he was willing to quit and tried to stop her with a ridiculous open-ended deal) or, it could be "Why are you not afraid of me?"

I personally think it's a little of both, but mostly the first. Because I do not think he's a complete idiot - I think he's actually pretty people smart - and thus he knows why she's not afraid of him: she can control his shape-shifting (she demonstrated this when they met), and he's been nothing but helpful and protective the whole time they've been together.

I love this take! She’s fearless on several levels: re. the possible trap they’re walking into, him in his big bad wolf form, plus the fact that they’re in foreign territory (Louie said they’d be crossing a civil war front, but she’s just out here naked and relaxed, singing a little tune). I think Aleksei is super into it, but also worried for her. Also I think the fact that she’s motivated by her deep love for her sister, which is something he’s never experienced (I’m assuming) has got him thinking some deep thoughts. I love this little 😵‍💫😍🤔 journey he’s on.
