Hello everyone! Long time no see. Today I’m bringing you a couple of sprites, alternate skins, and animations.

NEW SPRITES

First of all, the sprites. Besides working on Flat Injustice, I also mentioned that I’d like to have a publishable version of Android LIFE, but for that I need a publishable version of the original game too. Looking back, and this is something I’ve mentioned many times, the art is horrible. The CGs and sprites from the beginning of the game need work, along with the code and the general functionality of the game.

That’s why, for now, I’m updating the first part of the game. My current plan is to finish updating the CGs and the first scenes, while also modifying them and adding new ones, so I can make a dense update that works as a proper introduction to the game. In the image above you can see a comparison with Lena’s old sprite. Looking back, it’s honestly surprising to me that people were able to look past the art level and still appreciate the story. More on that in a moment.

(I forgot to add the band on her leg, it will be added later.)

All the sprites need work, but we’re already halfway there. Only Emily, Kana, Mia, and Laura are left. Since they take a long time to make, I’ll be drawing them gradually over the next two months so I don’t burn myself out. I’d also like to finish their alternate versions too.

Speaking of alternate versions, here are the first two attempts at making new skins. I tried to preserve the essence of the characters while improving other aspects. I think Lena in particular is the one I like the most.

Also, I’ve been using AI to improve the clothing, more noticeably on Ruri, since that pattern on her sweater would be extremely difficult to make otherwise. What do you think about this kind of use? If you’re strongly against it, I can simply replace the texture or leave her original blouse, since what I actually needed to change was the skirt.

STEAM VERSION

To put your minds at ease, the possible Steam version will be practically the same as the original, only changing the uniforms and replacing the institute with a university. If I change anything else, it will be because I think I can do it better, and in that case the change will be made in both versions. I’d also like to add a few short scenes outside in the city so the MC can be used by other women, making it more faithful to the original idea of the game.

To be honest, the biggest change I’d like to make is modifying the restriction on the MC’s use, so I can have spicier scenes much earlier in the game. I’ll see if I’m convinced by that change and how I would integrate it into the story later.

ANIMATIONS

I finished the animations for Ruri’s scene, and I’m close to finishing the animation for Rea’s new scene. I’m really happy with the new changes. The first animations are horrible, and I can’t wait to finish replacing all of them.

To give you an idea of the difference, I want you to first see the old animation.

And now, the new animation. It’s a bit cropped because of the file size, but you can see the full version on Discord with all its frames, along with another Ruri animation that is very hard to post here because of its format.

There are other animations at the beginning that I need to work on, but I’m still debating whether to remake them exactly as they are, or create new scenes instead, since I have to do all the work again anyway. I’d like to complete two more animation sets before releasing the new update. Ideally, I want to reach Emily’s locker scene. Otherwise, I might post only Rea’s scene next month.

RELEASE DATE

If I want to release the game with part of the beginning rebooted, I need to have all the sprites ready, so at least two more months are necessary. During those two months I’d make two more animation sets, plus their corresponding CGs.

The release of Flat Injustice was planned for a couple of months from now, but as always, AL has priority, so don’t worry, I’m still working on the game as usual.

I’m making good progress, but since the next update would be a kind of “rebirth” for the game, I’d like it to have a good amount of content. Depending on people’s excitement, and if support drops too much, I’ll see if I release something earlier with just the scenes. Otherwise, I’ll take some time to rebuild the beginning properly.

That’s all for now. The rest of the work has mostly been writing, so there isn’t much to show in that regard. I’ll bring you more news soon. Bye!

AI design for accessories doesn't seem offensive to me. While I can see arguments made against it; it still doesn't hit me as replacing the fundamental human touch in overall design.
