Dear diary, I photographed Carolina under a beach shower at sunrise and developed some unexpectedly strong feelings about town planning.

Whoever installed it probably had sand, salt and sensible drainage in mind. I doubt they pictured a photographer becoming emotionally attached to a piece of plumbing.

Yet here we are. A white crop top, water catching the light, the sea behind her. I find myself wanting a morning in which this is a perfectly ordinary thing to see.

I’d like to thank the people responsible. I’m just not sure “excellent work on the shower situation” belongs on a council feedback form.

Querido diario, fotografié a Carolina bajo una ducha de playa al amanecer y descubrí que tenía unas opiniones sorprendentemente firmes sobre urbanismo.

Quien la instaló seguramente pensaba en la arena, la sal y un desagüe decente. Dudo que imaginara a un fotógrafo cogiéndole cariño a una pieza de fontanería.

Y, sin embargo, aquí estamos. Un top blanco, el agua brillando con la luz y el mar detrás de ella. Y yo queriendo unas mañanas en las que ver algo así sea lo más normal del mundo.

Me gustaría dar las gracias a los responsables. Aunque no sé si «enhorabuena por lo de la ducha» encaja en un formulario de sugerencias del ayuntamiento.
