Here's an explanation in case you're confused about any part: In these episodes, it's finally revealed what exactly Eri's quirk is: The ability to rewind. Eri can rewind a broken limb to normal after it's injured, or rewind a person until it ceases to exist. But that's not her Quirk's TRUE power. Overhaul believes that Eri can revert humanity to a time when quirks never existed. That is how he used her body to make quirk-erasing bullets. That's why she's wrapped in bandages. Overhaul slices her up, taking her body to make a drug, then uses his quirk to repair her. Over and over again. When Deku grabbed Eri, after she jumped towards him holding Mirio's cape, in that moment, Deku used OFA at 100% to propel himself upwards. He then realized that Eri used his quirk ON Deku when it happened. Deku can not use 100% yet without acquiring serious injuries afterwards. But the moment he shattered his leg, Eri instantly rewinded it, healing it. Deku then realized if he maintains Full Cowling at 100%, constantly breaking his body, he could keep up with Eri's rewind. As a result, he was able to fight and defeat Overhaul at a level of strength equal to Prime All Might.

i think there's a group of people who think mha fell off after this arc actually. i personally love everything that happens this season but after that, s5 does feel pretty slow if you're not someone who has much interest in the other characters of class 1A/1B. it picks tf up after cour 1 tho

their powers weren’t joined together, eri was just rewinding all of the damage that deku was taking by using 100% one for all and deku was counteracting the unwinding by taking that damage (otherwise he’d rewind to before he was born)

Season 4 is the best season, 100%. This is not the end of the peak seriously. Theres at least 3 more god tier moments, all of which are entirely different in vibes and scenarios, i wont spoil ofc, but this season is just so consistently good (excluding one short part between this arc and the next)

To explain Eris quirk a bit clearer, she rewinds things she touches, rewinding dekus injuries so he can constantly break his limbs with 100% one for all and get rewinded aka healed. Letting him not hold back at all But if she held someone for too long they straight up de age until the point theyre a baby and then even to the point of not existing anymore, which is how her dad died, probably picked her up and her quirk activted out of nowhere

Haha loved your reaction. Definitely the exact same way I was feeling when I first watched this. The extremely emotional savior moment with Mirio's cape and then transition to Deku's coolest form and the ANIMATION out of nowhere felt like straight up Mob Psycho when he's throwing all those punches. He looked so frightening and awesome when Overhaul looks up at him and you see the silhouette of him and Eri, looks like an alien.

That OST is only played 3 times in the whole show. The movie is one of them but this was the first time we hear it

people mostly equal action to the anime being good, but knowing that you aren't like that I think you'll probably like season 5 more than most people (where people say it falls off) as its focused on other characters and understanding them. This season has other great moments that people don't appreciate because they aren't action, but they really are good.

When Deku said Eri’s quirk was a blessing it’s because he is able to freely use OFA 100% without repercussion due to eri rewinding him back to the very moment before he would experience the pain and injuries for going 100%

I definitely wouldn’t say the show/manga falls off ever per say, but I do think the story after this arc suffers from some pacing issues and the storytelling, while still good, isn’t as strong after this arc. Don’t get me wrong, there’s still great moments to come, but it feels like Horikoshi is sorta rushing things a little bit sprinting to finish the story, when some parts are dragged out unnecessarily, but other parts I really would like to see, get rushed past. I still love MHA and am patiently waiting for the next manga volumes to be available in English.

Just some clarification. Overhaul literally cuts Eri apart and takes her skin/blood until she dies. Then he uses his quirk to restore her to normal. He's been repeating this process for a long time until he figured out how to make the perfected bullets. His plan was to keep cutting her up to make bullets. Easily one of MHA's most evil villains and darkest moments. Eri's quirk doesn't rewind time. It just rewinds her body and anyone's body that she's touching. Since Deku's 100% usually destroys his body, Eri's quirk works perfectly for him. He smashes himself, and she immediately rewinds his body to before it was broken. I just wanted to make sure that Nick knew exactly what was happening to Eri because her dealing with this trauma plays a huge part in the next arc. Many hate the 2nd half of this season, but if you go into it with Eri's suffering in mind, it makes a lot more sense. Heroes save people in many different ways. The emotional side of things are very important to the rest of the show.

So run down of Eri's quirk rewind- she can "rewind" things she touches depend on how much power is stored in her horn. In normal circumstances if Deku used 100% at this point in time he would break every bone in his body but because of Eri the broken bones are rewinding to before they were broken.

The people that say that mha falls off after this are the people that only watch anime for the action and only think that it's good when things are hype. The people that actually enjoy everything about anime including the character development, the writing, the plot development, and the buildup as well as the hype moments know that it doesn't fall off. There's so much to the story that just would not progress if it wasn't for horikoshi sensei's really good writing and character development. And that has to take place otherwise nothing feels earned. people just need to be patient.

Eri power of rewind is possibly the most broken quirk to ever exist in this verse besides some caveats, 1. it requires touch 2. kinda "spoiler" so I'll not say it. Her ability rewinded her dad into NOTHINGNESS, Overhaul refining this with her blood and "science" could make it reverse the DNA evolution of quirk back . And could revert back human to monkeys if that was the goal. When she escaped she rewinded Overhaul and Nemoto back to the unfused form and might have healed them also . Then she reached for Deku , who in the brust of the moment and emotion used 100% but she rewinded the damage that would have done ! Then Deku that would not be able to sustain OFA 100% in any way used it to balance with Eri rewinding , 100% constantly breaking every bones and muscles fibers in it's body every moment but simultaneously being rewinded to a prestine state by Eri , at some point Eri is overwhelming slightly Deku . Her power could be the absolute turn over in any situation but she can't control it , rn she just have and ON state and chisaki needed to kill her and put her back together to turn it OFF . That shit OP . And so cool . Eri and Deku moments as well as the rapport between Mirio and Eric with the cape and sacrifice was one of the best moment in MHA and on the anime scene when it released . Music & mixing is godlike , animation is wow , the VAs have anscended, it's absolute cinema. Nighteye hability could not foresee Eri's ability of rewinding Deku etc .

I’m sure tons of people already explained but Eri’s quirk keeps rewinding people. And if left unchecked, it’ll erase you to before you even born, into nothing. So in order to combat that, Deku went full on 100% to keep destroying his body to keep up with Eri’s rewind so he wouldn’t get reduced to nothing

To most people here I think we agree that we really hope you appreciate the character building and relationship bonding coming with the latter half of this season. I think those who says it falls off doesn’t really appreciate the writing and storytelling aspect. Any good show, anime or other has to have moments in between to build the stakes so that when shit hits the fan or a character is injured or going through something that emotional attachment is there. Personally because I love the music from this show and I freaking love the quieter aspect of the next arc of the season. It’s especially crucial to build the characters and their emotional bonds for what comes in parts of s5 and the last part of s6. Cuz as someone said in the comments, after s4 it’s peak arc after peak arc. So enjoy this down time coming up. Sorry for the novel 😅

1) The OST IS originally from the movie. The second movie Heroes Rising came out before this episode in theatres. Might +U comes out in such a beautiful scene during the movie. The Deku and gentle / la brava arc as well as the school festival was super pivotal for the series and what it wants to do. People want to act like that arc was shit when in reality it was just dragged out a little too much. People choose to ignore how well gentle and la brava fit into the world of MHA and how it shows a lot of flaws in their society and the festival itself is focused around saving Eri's heart. Literally everything in that arc is worthwhile when you get to see Eri smile.

That Infinite 100%... My jaw was on the freaking FLOOR. Those images of Deku's fists just covering the sky... but then that shot at 45:32 with Deku's face in shadow but you see the glow of his eye, then the close up shot of his face being revealed like that. God tier art direction, I swear!! And yes, can we give it up to that Might U song? That song hits me every damn time!! Here we have an shonen action anime, and we get this slow, sweeping score with soft beautiful lyrics by the wonderfully talented Makayla Phillips. Just perfection!! I can't wait till Nick see's the next movie though!

The only people who think this show falls off are the ones who are only into shonen for the fights and not the characters. Season 5 is all about the characters, setting up for season 6 and beyond. Trust me, season 5 might not have the action of the other seasons, but you'll be learning more and more about every character and their abilities and meeting new characters who will play important roles in the future. I've read the manga, trust me, season 5 is important.

The school festival arc was SO NEEDED after all the heaviness of the Overhaul Arc. It's a breath of fresh air and a reminder that these are KIDS being thrown into all this. Loved this season.

Hey Nick! Great reaction! I would definitely recommend rewatching it on your own. Theres a lot of points that you didn’t catch. I definitely needed to rewatch too :) Eri’s power is rewind. Not rewind time but rewind humans. So she can rewind a persons body to a past state. That’s is how Deku is able to 100% because she is constantly reversing his body from all the damage he gains when using his full power. Eri is so powerful that she can rewind a human back before quirks existed and even rewind their own existence. (Like the rats in that scene). That is why Eri is so important to Overhaul. He needs her to create those erasing quirk bullets.

Actually the main pb with s5 is the adaptation. They cut so many scenes (spinner, destro) and inverted two arcs which makes no sense. The season itself is very good, but it doesnt pay justice to the manga. They did bad choices and the season could have been way better. Moreover, they messed up with spinner's writing for the upcoming seasons

Nick, what eri did with midoriya wasnt teleportation. Midoriya was just moving that fast because he was at 100% of ofa, just like all might. What eri did was revert the damage from using ofa 100 constantly because at that point in the series, midoriya couldnt use ofa 100 without hurting himself, but eri can revert that harm to his body

Idk if Nick realizes that Deku can’t use 100% of his power because if he does his body will break and hurts him making him incapable of fighting but Eri’s power offsets the damage he is taking by resetting his body back to normal and so because of this he can use 100% of One for All over and over and not being harm by the recoil because the damage of his body by using 100% is being reset by Eri.

Like when it shows a flashback of chisakis experiments on eri and chisaki says "reset" clearly referencing his deconstruction and reconstruction quirk but nick kept going off tge impression it was deeper than that. A lot of people actually forgot why many of us were unhappy. It was the issue of BONES switching out arcs and incorrectly pacing the show in comparison with the manga - which in the end is mostly an issue that only manga readers faced and then ofc the people who just like hating on stuff joined. A person who did not read the manga didnt really have that much to dislike about s05 to be fair. Now people act like the season was BAD, when it 90% of its critique was never in regards to it being bad but about BONES not delivering the expected quality at the beginning.

Personal I don't want you to watch second MHA movie because the final fight scene is just fan service, making stuff up in (regard to one for all) just to get a reaction. You will find out that what happens between Deku and Bakugo in the movie can't happen (you'll understand in season 6), but I know everyone want you to watch second film and I'm not everyone. Fun opinion: I think the future nighteye saw was the future that was supposed to happen, but Eri's quirk is "rewind" which is outside the scope of nighteye's ability. He saw a future and Eri changed it by rewinding Deku's injuries.
