Those two will absolutely be a treat to see Nich experience! The way I stay positive is by thinking: "The longer the wait, the more rewarding it’ll feel", especially since it’ll offer a refreshing break from the mainstream anime he usually watches. Just look at how much he loved Vinland Saga, despite it being less mainstream compared to other popular series!

Steins;Gate would be the 2nd most popular in this list after SAO. The issue though is, that SG is quite slow and not many people want to rewatch it, especially in Nick's fanbase that only wants action series. All the other titles you mentioned are also quite famous, Luke (GOTGames) for example reacted to all of them.

It isn't mainstream. It's nowhere near as popular as any of Big 3, Dragon Ball, new gen anime like Demon Slayer, JJK, CSM etc. It isn't nearly talked about as much compared to them. Eminence in shadow is kinda funny but nothing special. and Fate is mainly just fighting, the story itself can be boring most of the time and the watch order is so bad, like no one knows where to start... I think Shangri la frontier is like the better version of sao and its popular now. In my opinion the best anime for nick right now is berserk 97.

SAO isn't bad as a whole. People just hate it for the second half of season 1. The first half of season 1 is considered the best, season 2 is decent and season's 3 and 4 are great

Not on this list, but I actually think that Dungeon Meshi would be the perfect anime for him to watch. Season 2 is coming out in a few months and will fully adapt the story/manga so he can follow it as it airs. It's also a comfy & comedic non-isekai fantasy show that gradually builds into a masterpiece. Honestly the party dynamic is very similar to Frieren with more comedy than drama. It'd probably also be a great show to watch on stream (at least the first half) in case he needs a break from One Piece. Not to mention the fantastic music between the OSTs, sound design, and OP/EDs! Even Gigguk considers the show as one of the best shows of 2024, only behind DanDaDan

Im the #1 sao hater and even i know its getting to much hate in the comments. I used to preorder the lightnovels and read them on release! I think the show could be way better! Reki Kawahara was a beginner at writing when he started SAO and it shows. However its not like people are making you drink hotdog water then forcing you to watch this with nick. Move on.
