A lot of people seem to be confused.. I never said I’m dropping SAO

I was just talking about how people are telling me I’m gonna drop it after season 2 or some shit. But it’s not gonna happen. I understand there’s a lot of weird hate for the series, for some odd reason. Either because people want me reacting to other stuff or because of some weird fan wars.

Only way I drop something is if viewership is extremely low, but the SAO reactions have been doing great on here! A lot of signs up for the anime.

Only series I really dropped on here is Slime, but I’ve finished everything else.

ALSO.. unfortunately the MHA Vigilante’s reaction was corrupted, audio wasn’t recorded for some reason. Which is why that reaction hasn’t come out. If I fix it, I’ll have it up right away.

The problems people have with SAO is: - It has some... Overly explicit scenes and not necessarily in a good way - it wasn't originally written to be adapted into an anime so the pacing and story focus is weird at some points But that doesn't mean you can't enjoy it. It even is one of my more favorite animes (although you have to understand a few things first for that)

SAO is one of the most over hated anime out there. The story is not that bad, I personally think that it's good. I think some people are just disappointed because the story has so much potential, and the anime didn't cover some of the good parts from LN which kinda messed it up to some degree. But it's definitely a good and fun anime to watch. Please keep reacting to SAO Nick, never let others affect how you enjoy things.

Depends on how you feel with the series at the end of second half and later seasons. People say you will drop it because of what happens later on. Right now you still at the good parts, you dropping or not depends on how you like the show when you get to those points in the story.

I wouldn't expect viewership to drop by a large amount at all. Even though a lot of people start not liking SAO after a while, theres plenty of hate watchers among us and the majority of us like the show through and through. Even if at some point you do start to feel that you aren't liking it as much as you do now, getting past the weaker parts of SAO will reward you with an even better anime than i already think it is starting from season 3. Don't let these negative nancies get to you and you'll like all of SAO without a doubt!

Damn I was 20 when sao aired. I remember after the first episode was peak fiction back then. Looking back now the show was alright, but if you think season 1 is peak the writing gets better and better every season. My favorite series from the author is accel world though very underrated show set in the same universe.

I wouldn't call anything super peak in sao except for s1 and mothers rosario was also pretty good but it's an enjoyable watch. Alicization was ok, i liked the first part, the second part was meh, but not a reason to drop the series. It's a fact that a majority just thinks this way though. The scores on MAL just lower season by season a bit. In the end however its up to oneself to judge.

It's true that Season 2 of SAO can sometimes feel a bit slower-paced. After the adrenaline rush of Aincrad in Season 1, where it was action-packed. Season 2 adopt a slightly more leisurely tempo. Some might find this takes getting used to, but personally, I think it's still very entertaining. It offers deeper character development, explores new worlds, and lays the groundwork for what's to come. Give it a chance, it's worth it! And for anyone who might be hesitant: Stick with it! Because from Season 3 onwards, things really kick off! With Alicization, SAO gets an incredible boost. The story becomes more complex, the battles more epic, and the emotional moments even more intense. It's one of the best arcs of the entire series and will definitely keep you glued to your screen.

Honestly, Sword Art Online is one of those shows that are hated because they're popular but not masterpieces. Season 1 and 2 are good, season 3 and 4 are amazing.

not everyone who dropped SAO is a "hater" or "Fake fan", I personally loved season 1 but really just couldn't stomach watching more than 5 episodes of season 2. but that's just a preference, If you keep watching it all the way through all the seasons then cool. Everything is at LEAST worth a try, and if you don't like it, you don't like it, and if you do, then you do.

Alfheim is great, Gun gale is great, Yuki arc is fantastic, and both parts of Alicization are absolute peak. War of Underworld specifically does something that not a lot of other anime have done in a good way and I’m excited to see you get there.

The contempt for SAO goes back many years. It seems to be mostly about the show being a cheap, poorly-written power-fantasy isekai and about SAO being at fault for starting a trend of shows that try to imitate it. Which, regardless of who is to blame: the cheap, sao-inspired isekai power fantasy genre is a phenomenon that we still face today. In addition, SAO came out at a time when anime wasn't considered "cool" or socially acceptable, so it may still carry some of that weight and bad reputation.

SAO hate always felt kinda forced to me. IMO there is a few reasons for it. Back in 2012, SAO blew up. It was probably the first anime that really went mainstream - like, even non-anime kids at school were suddenly watching it and talking about it. I’d even argue Attack on Titan didn’t have that level of cultural reach at first (it peaked way later around 2019–2020 when it started appealing more to an older audience with consistent, mature writing). But SAO in 2012? It was everywhere. The anime community back then was completely different. It was way more niche and a bit elitist. So when something like SAO suddenly became the most talked show, the reaction from a lot of long-time fans was immediate rejection - “overhyped trash.” And to be fair, some of that wasn’t wrong. The hype was massive, and the actual story was pretty basic. A lot of it got pushed by normies and MMORPG fans who were just hyped for the setting and idea. Then the second arc dropped, and that killed a lot of the momentum. Season 2 came out in 2014, but by then the hype had shifted to newer “big titles” like AOT and Tokyo Ghoul. And SAO S2 didn’t help itself either - the setup was completely different, and most people wanted more Aincrad-style stuff. Then Alicization dropped in 2018 — imo the best arc and the peak of Kawahara’s writing - but by that point, barely anyone cared anymore. SAO already had the reputation of being the show that started strong and fell off hard. Now it’s basically a meme. The go-to example of overhyped anime that "everyone used to like and now we all hate." And most of the people clowning on it either never watched it in full or just dropped it early and stuck with the internet’s opinion.SAO isn’t trash. It’s not a masterpiece either, but it has a lot of genuinely good stuff going for it. Plot-wise, yeah - it’s pretty simple and straightforward. Nothing super deep or groundbreaking. But that’s not really what SAO is about. Kawahara’s real strength is in building concepts - he’s more of a world architect than a storyteller. And that’s where SAO really shines, especially compared to a lot of isekai. Alicization is the best example of that. The whole Underworld system feels like an actual simulated world, not just fantasy with a sci-fi skin. There’s logic behind it, rules, and even philosophical stuff - like AI, identity, free will, ethics of artificial life, etc. It’s trying to seriously explore what a digital reality could look like. As for the characters - yeah, they’re not super deep or complex, and the development isn’t anything amazing. But they’re genuinely likable. And watching how they interact, how their relationships grow over time - that’s fun. There’s a kind of charm in just following their journey. Even if the writing isn’t perfect, that emotional connection helps a lot. You want to see what happens to them next. For me, SAO is a solid 7/10. It’s flawed, for sure. It got way too hyped way too fast, and it hit at a time when the anime scene wasn’t ready to accept something that blew up with the general public.

A lot of people are weird about SAO. Honestly the last two most recent seasons Alicization and War of Underworld are peak and arguably the best imo. But a lot of people never got there I guess. Glad it won’t be dropped.

Honestly, even as a SAO enjoyer the 2nd season (or 2nd part of S1) is actually, not good, at all, i don't think SAO fans disagree, it's the dark spot on a very good anime, but everything after is just as good as S1 (and the last big arc(s) is peak) so there's no reason to drop it, SAO always got hate for some reasons, never really understood why because not only the anime is good, but the big "reasons" people hate it actually don't make sense, pretty sure most haters have not watch it and just hate because it's a popular opinion

boruto is garbage. its not even cannon the original author wanted out but corporate didn't so they brought in a new writer then slammed his new writing so no one would like it and yall ate it up. SO he came back in like 200 episodes in and starting writing boruto again for the money. It would be better to just read fanfiction at least it would have a single story element in mind and one author following through. Imagine if book 3 of harry potter we all of sudden go the game of thrones show writers taking over and finishing the series. That's the equivalent.

This is what I've been preaching for so long, yes, all of us SAO fans and also people with common sense agree that the latter half of season (ALO) is not that good at all. In my opinion, I enjoyed it up until like the middle part of it and then the ending was good, other than that, it was pretty shit. But, to say that it tarnishes the entire series is fucking delusion on a whole nother level. Season 2 and 3 are PEAK and there's no denying that.

ehhhhh, season two has its fair share of issues too. There's gun gale which imo was sort of a disaster, a filler arc, and then mothers rosaria, which is a decent arc in that they're at least trying to make asuna into a character again

I can't think of other anime that's as popular as SAO with that many rape scenes. afaik there are 5 full on, disgusting, pointless and downright graphic rape scenes in sword art online so far. it's like the writer only knows how to make evil men rape women as the only way to create a villain. And he also can't think of a single flaw for kirito, a single personality trait for any of the girls around him, a single reason for klein (the only character with sort of a personality) screentime, a single reason to stay in one game or keep SAO about SAO, he can't seem to stop adding girls to kirito's fake harem even though he's supposedly married, there was the incest subplot which was never resolved and suguha just moves on still having feelings for her brother, asuna is literally nonexistent as a character despite actually being the most compelling character in all of aincrad, gun gale, ALO and excalibur arcs were terrible and the best parts of SAO are the parts without kirito at all. Name literally any personality trait that kirito has other than "he's kind" or "he's skilled". Sword art online is just an incels wet dream. You say that people hate sao because it's popular, and that may be true. But I hate SAO because it reminds me that the anime community is so unbelievably pathetic

1. I don't know where you see me defend any show besides SAO, since i haven't. You don't know my "type". 2. I have never defended the rape scenes, but they aren't used for blind fan service. The point of them is to be disgusted by it and hate the person doing it. It's okay to say you aren't built to handle it, there's nothing wrong with that. 3. Kirito has been flawed multiple times through out the story. His guilt for the deaths of people that he caused is a lingering theme through out the ENTIRE show. In the movie, he is shown to be weak and out of shape and had to put effort into doing better. In season 4 he is LITERALLY A VEGETABLE. SAO is my favorite anime ever. I love everything about it. People have their own opinions. As long as the conversations about an anime are handled like human beings and not some bratty children, then it's fine. The way i see it, most people dislike the anime so much because of Kirito doesnt have any personality or character development, which in my way of viewing things i don't understand. So I'm always down to converse about these kinds of things as long as both people are conversing like normal human beings and not just like "hE's bAD cHArAcTeR"

Gun Gale is different, but in no way bad, there is a thriller side to it that is really refreshing, Sinon is a good support character (especially after ALO) with an interesting story and the gun/light saber made for very good scene (can't really get tired of it as it last only one arc), after there are a few filler classic MMO games followed by Yuki's arc which made everyone and their mother cry I can why people would drop during ALO because it's really bad, but anyone that have seen the entire serie should know better (Alicization and War of the Underworld are the best so people can look forward to that)

Not fact, its your Opinion, Sword art online is a really good anime for its time, in my opinion Season 1 ending was very uncomfortable and I think everyone can agree with that, as for S2 I enjoyed it and S3,S4 are quite weird to get into but once you understand it, its quite enjoyable.
