Thats actally the perfect rating. Its not the best anime but its my favorite anime and for some reason I like it more everytime I rewatch it. Probably because I pay attention to the other characters more and understand them better. Daring in the franxx is another good watch but ending is kinda an asspull but relationship between the main characters is enough to keep you watching

I think series as a whole it’s a 7/10 would be 10/10 if alfheim wasn’t included, alicization imo carries sao so heavily it’s genuinely peak the entire way through and introduces the two best characters of the entire series, Eugene and Alice

The movies are very good. And they're not like the My Hero movies, they're canon. They're the adaptation of the SAO progressive novels, which serve as an expanded, floor-by-floor retelling of the original Aincrad arc. I'd love to see you watch them, I think you'll like them a lot.

Watch the progressive movies it's basically Asuna's point of view. Of the first season. As for Unital ring I think the light novel is still release chapters and the animation team is waiting for it to finish.

We are getting anime original movie some time next year. As for new season, the team at A1-Pictures responsible for SAO is at the moment busy with Solo Leveling. SAO is massive in Japan so the question is not is it getting adapted but when. Thanks for the amazing reaction, would love to see progressive movies reaction and possibly spinoff.

damn it's really over. thank you for all the sao reactions nick it was my highlight of every week. For the progressive movies, they are fantastic, nothing like some bum ass my hero movies, so I suggest you watch the first one and see if you like it.

soo the official upcoming plan for SAO (as far as we know) is something like this: - new canon movie to tie-in the alicization arc with the new one (unital ring) - followed by a unital ring adaptation there's a problem though. unital ring is STILL ongoing in the light novel so they can't just start adapting it like they want. this is why it took so long with no announcements whatsoever. the new movie is getting more very motion soon though (at least that's what they said)

I would put them at 8.5/10. The only reason not higher is some parts pacing was ehh, and I didn't like too much how it felt Haremy and too many female characters we didn't really need shown as much as/becoming part of the main cast. It woulda been nice for Klein or Agil to get some more screen time too. As for what next, I say Do the Sword Art Online Progressive movies next! They are good! They are a newer, rewritten version of the Aincrad Arc. They are great! I don't really care much more the GGO alternative spin off, but maybe you would like it.

The Progressive movies are a retelling different version of the first Sword Art Online Aincrad arc. I thought they were wonderful and better than it in many ways too, I still love the original though! I wish we could get a Progressive SAO anime that reduces some of the tropes, maybe some of the other characters could like Klein or someone else or something. And they could also take more time to explore the floors and intricacies etc. of them and life in the Aincrad castle etc. That would be so cool, and it would nice to have a long form anime for it, like at least 50 episodes, since we rarely get that anymore. I would be happy with Naruto length or even one piece length as long as they took their time, didn't rush for quotas etc. and let it breathe. I think they could probably write an overall theme/setting for each arc and maybe even one for a long show overall, then write something like details for each floor/game/world etc. and even the real world and the characters and such, this would give them already stuff finished and thought out to pull from while writing which would make things easier if done beforehand. I love Sword Art Online, and I would be happy if we had a long series for it, that wouldn't be afraid to also give attention to their lives, in and out of the game (Mostly in the game with just a small bit IRL though, like they did it in this version of the show & the Progressive movies. I would love to have a long term anime of it to enjoy for a long time! I think as long as they took time before hand, pacing and ideas would be easier too!

The progression movies are canon, they describe the first season better but with asunas pov and not so fast paced, taking more time to explain and develop the story, they show new things and the second progression movies especially, it takes place in a floor we haven’t even seen in the anime so it’s completely new and canon

You should definitely watch the Progressive movies as they show Aincrad but more fleshed out. Also we do get a lot of Asuna POV in there. For Unital Ring, the light novels aren't finished yet which is I'd think the main reason the anime for it hasn't been announced yet 🥲

I definitely recommend watching the progressive movies, I think you'd really enjoy them, then hopefully one day we get the unital ring arc adapted when it's finished/nearly finished, I've been reading the light novels and really enjoying the arc

SAO Progressive movies are worth it, they changed the art-style a little bit more though. Not a bad change but definitely noticeable. It’s a re-telling of the first season, we’re back in Aincrad and the death game is just starting. It’s from Asuna’s perspective which is already a plus, but the production value is great, animation goes crazy. Sound design and music are also top-notch so prepare your eyes and ears for a show lol. I went to go see both the first and second progressive movies in the theater when they came out. It’s worth the watch 100%.

You should definitely watch the Sword Art Online Progressive movies, they are very good. Also as far as Unital Ring, we are all waiting on the anime adaptation. The light novels of it are so good, I'm guessing they are waiting for there to be enough source material before they can try and make the anime version.

Yes, you should definitely watch the Progressive movies, they are canon and add depth to Aincrad as well as introducing a new original character who also appears in Unital Ring since the 2 stories are connected. As for the plans for the continuation of the anime, in July we will have news on the New Original Movie which will presumably be set after Alicization and will act as a bridge to Unital Ring, that's all and thanks for your reaction to this series I'm really glad you liked it!

I'm glad you had a blast with SAO. It became such a popular punching bag that a lot of people don't seem to be interested in getting into it. It's not the deepest story nor is it the most well written, but it's got a lot of fun with the characters and ideas and the worlds that were created. Hopefully when the arc finishes in the light novels, we'll get that next season.

No they aren’t canon. A lot of stuff did happen how it’s shown but asunas origin is non canon at all. And a certain character is movie only she is not canon to series

Sword Art Online was the first anime that pulled me into the medium, it is pure nostalgia for me and till this day it holds a special place in my heart. Every week i watched these reactions, always counting down the days without a break till the next one. This has by far been my favorite reaction serious of you. I am happy you reached the end but also sad that there will be no more. I cannot wait any longer for Unital Ring, we have been waiting for years but still nothing. The only thing we have now is that another movie got announced which is likely not going to be about Unital Ring. But i wish that at the end of the movie, they tease it. Kirito will return.

It will probably take a while until they adapt Unital Ring since the author is still writing this arc and just a month ago he released a new volume, but even after that, the arc is still not finished. My guess is that we will have to wait at least 3-4 years until we get any news about a new season.

biggest problem with A1 Pictures : they never finish the story like SAO, 86 or Magi... but yeah, if you didnt start Steins; Gate i will cancel the subscription until you start masterpiece Mushoku Tensei and the closer DrStone.. 9/10 anime ofc. the sword art online anime always follows the same pattern, they only adapt to anime after the author finishes the arc in the LN, and unital ring isnt finished yet, when it finishes we will probably get like 50 episodes divided in season of 12 or 24 eps
