Clearly this is no longer a Christmas story, whoops. There's ONE more part after this, this is NOT the final section. That happened because this last section got too long, and for ease and avoiding lag in the document, I split it. I’ll try to get it up later today; if not then tomorrow!

Santa Klaus: part III

December 12 "You're still helping me with Dorothy, right?" Case asks at the end of a long long Friday, standing by Cassandra's desk and waiting as he gets all her stuff together. "Mmhm, yeah," Cassandra replies as she shrugs on her coat. "But this week's been busy, you know?" "Yeah."

What a pleasant way to spend part of New Year's. I loved the conversation they had about identity confusion. If you don't have a template, you just have to invent yourself as you go.

Thanks! That was one of those things that wasn't planned to be in there, but in the middle of writing the story I saw a writing post on characters/people who have grown up in two different cultures and realized both Case and Klaus fit that and it would be a good common ground between them. Hence why the story got longer than I meant :)

I'm so happy that Case is mixed! That is so not what I expected and it's hard to change the mental image I have of him, but it makes me so happy! I am black, but light skinned, so people always assume I'm mixed with white, but I'm not mixed with anything directly. As a massive generalization, white people think you're "black but approachable" and black people think that YOU think you're too good or too white or not really black enough. So happy you threw that in and that there is chemistry between a caucasian European a half white, half black American on top of all that. Let me just reiterate that you are indeed my favorite author! Gah!

Thank you! I probably could have made it a little more obvious that Case was not 100% white earlier on, but I was trying to avoid stating it very obviously until it was a natural thing for him to think about or talk about. I actually have gone back and made a few changes where he specifically mentions /other/ people being white, so that specifically in his viewpoint might make it a little more obvious he's not fully. Either way, I'm glad you like him!
