Chapter VIII

This will probably get split into 2 chapters when I do final passes/edits just because it got so long, but for now it's still one! Extra long chapter for the end of an extra long year. I've always been the worst at chapters, they always get away from me, but also there's basically zero rules about how to structure chapter breaks so at least I'm terrible at something mostly inconsequential.

One new small note in the translation document for this chapter.

Also also, thank you Sacramento Kings for doing so badly in the 2008-2009 NBA season that Martin could make a relevant foreshadowy basketball joke. At this point in their season (November 2, 2008) the Kings have already lost all three games and scored NEVER, and will lose another game without scoring on Nov 3, and have the overall worst season in the NBA for that year and their own worst franchise record. Congrats for being so bad I could write a fitting line of dialogue.

Also also also, if you're interested in seeing some books I both hated and loved this year, I've shared my finalists on my discord server. Also I've yelled about some of them throughout the year in a channel devoted to it. It's kind of like when I used to do book reviews but more unhinged and unstructured.
