This is the last chapter of the Tenebrism rewrites! I wanted to get it done by Alan's birthday and I did, and so now I'm posting this actually on his birthday (April 9th). So happy birthday to my own fictional character, who if he was real would be turning 29 since this story is set in 2008.And I'll be jumping right in to the next book's rewrites, Chiaroscuro, from here, which won't take NEARLY as long as this did as I'm not restructuring/rewriting the entire story. Although some events have shifted around and changed and obviously things have to be corrected re: continuity with the Tenebrism rewrites.Anyway, I hope you guys enjoy this last chapter! And if this is the first time you're reading the series I'd kind of not recommend going directly to read the Chiaroscuro draft that's up on FP. Especially since the rewrites will be starting up so quickly (the alternate/extended scene for this is actually just the first bit of Chiaroscuro itself). You could read it, but it will be pretty wonky and disjointed in comparison with this story.

XI. Someone was saying my name, or maybe yelling it, over and over. It made my head throb, and I just wanted them to stop, to shut up. Everything still wobbled and twinkled in front of my eyes. I couldn't tell if I didn't have enough air, or if I had too much.

Whoo, happy birthday to Alan. It's really silly; even though I've read the rest of the series, I was still sitting there going, "oh noes, will Alan and Keyd make it work? What if Keyd and Rysa leave?!" Your writing is so easy to get wayyy too immersed in. :) Really excited for the Chiaroscuro rewrites, I can't wait to see what further additions and alterations lie in wait. :)

That was a good chapter. I feel like the changes you made really fit with where Keyd and Alan are in their relationship at that time. In general, the rewrites were great.

Thanks, I'm glad you think so! I'm a lot happier with this than the original draft, especially the relationship part. I'm excited to keep going with them into the next book

A lot of my favorite stories are the ones where you're going "but what if X does/doesn't happen?!!" even if you've already read it a bunch of times. I'm glad that people who've read this before can still wonder at the outcome. :) I'm excited for them too! And definitely I'm going to try and get them done in a timely manner.

Glad you liked! I'm looking forward to them too, especially since I think Chiaroscuro is my favorite out of all the books (no idea why!) so I'm excited to revisit it.

This was beautiful! Happy birthday, Alan! I can't wait to start in on the next book! Oh I'm so happy Keyd is getting his act together! So much more makes sense now. I really hope that Chiaroscuro updates more often, too. I adore your writing and it's agony waiting for each new rewrite. Can't wait, but of course I will!

I'm really glad you enjoyed it! And Chiaroscuro updates /should/ happen a lot faster, optimistically I'd like to be done with them by the end of this year (it will probably take a little longer than that, but hopefully not much!). There will be a little peak of it in the next week or so!
