Skiagraphia XIV

A little more than half of this chapter is intense political discussion and the other half is Alan and Keyd sexing each other up a bit and being cute (and also talking some politics). So whichever of those you like best, it's there!

Also obviously, this is not Keyd's POV story. This was just way closer to being done (and I REALLY want to finish this story this year). This might completely replace Keyd's POV, or I might manage to fix up that chapter in time for it to go up this month too, WHO KNOWS. But there will the the regular bonus stuff for this chapter; a deleted scene, commentary, etc. Just so there's something going up!

Haha, man, Alan and politics is like taking a small child to meet the president and hoping he doesn't start talking about butts.

Teromain

Hahaha, he can discuss things pretty well when it's not right in the moment! He just can't handle it while it's happening. At least he pretty much stayed quiet here. :)

I could feel their excitement over seeing one another again and knowing that they were safe for now. Rysa and Aleif watching in bemusement, quite cute. Also, Rysa is too modest and Aleif is a genius. Best to force the Worthies hands and end it all for once. All of these political maneuvers by the Worthies, so insane. The regular oenclar would support peace I am sure, though living together as one people again- not likely.

Teromain

I'm pretty mean to Keyd and Alan, always separating them or threatening to, so I gotta give them nice moments once in a while! :) Rysa is pretty modest, although more than that she has a hard time stepping back from her own life and looking at it objectively, and difficulty with really understanding how far she's come (like forgetting she's actually the second most powerful person in the oenclar government). I love Alief, she's one of my favorite characters in this series. She'll be showing up more, even in other stories. And as for the races living together...I have a story planned that takes place five years after the end of this one, and touches on that idea. But it'd definitely not be an easy thing! I'm glad you enjoyed the chapter :)

Had to sneak in a tiny little cliff hanger, didn't you. Even if it's just an embankment. :)

Teromain

Aw, it's barely even an embankment. More like a ditch. :D I can't be mean every single chapter, especially since the last 2 of 3 chapters had absolutely terrible cliffhangers. :)

Alan panicking is kinda like 'open mouth insert foot chew frantically' They were cute together :) I had forgotten Dahne and Damao's full names x) I'm a bit disappointed by the political discussion though. I expected more (or more obvious) wariness, and more discussions about what to do now, but i guess making sure the two agistar are on the same page makes more sense than already exchanging ideas about what to do next, especially with the scale of the things they have to fight against. I get the sense that Aleif tries somewhat purposefully to confuse them to judge their reactions and evaluate their trustworthiness, and it's fun to watch x) great chapter :) (I'm curious about the how and the why they perceive shooting stars as a bad omen, and I keep imagining Alan trying to sing the song to Keyd and Rhysa and being all self-conscious about it)

Teromain

Haha just a little bit. :) I'm sorry the discussion was disappointing! Maybe the next one will make up for it? Really they were just testing the waters with each other, but neither of them had much of a reason to be super outwardly distrustful or wary since Alief knows a lot about Keyd from various people, as she said, and Alan and Rysa set this up and Keyd trusts /them/, so he figures it has to be okay in some manner. Also Keyd was completely exhausted and even though he was hiding it well Alief could tell, and didn't want him making any decisions about anything important in that state. She definitely does try to throw people off on purpose to gauge them better, ALan's not alone in getting that treatment from her. The shooting star thing will get talked about in the notes, but basically it's one of those deeply ingrained cultural things that's from the culture/people before them, and so they don't remember /why/ it's so bad, but everyone just /knows/ it is (like breaking a mirror, walking under a ladder, those random things we have, except the clar take this one very very super seriously)
