Please forgive the weird formatting of this post; I only have a tablet to use right now and it refuses to actually embed a link in the body text of a post here, so I have to do this instead ahaha thanks Patreon.

ANYWAY. This picks up right at the start of the next chapter; basically some of what I cut from the previous chapter. These chapters just keep overflowing and spilling into the next chapters, mostly because I'm trying to keep them shorter. And where the last chapter ended was a better place to end anyway!

I'm going to say that Chiaroscuro probably won't have another chapter up until  April at the earliest, maybe May.  Very likely next month will be the first chapter of Kir and Darban's story~

Chiaroscuro VII: sneak peak

VII Keyd dragged me through the rows of tents, startled faces flashing by us - people who were either staring at us because they'd just seen what happened or because Keyd just had that effect on people. I had no idea how I was keeping up with him, even with the iron grip he'd clamped around my w...

*squee* Kir and Darban's story! It's gonna be AWESOME! Lol oh silly Keyd, of course Alan doesn't care. Can't you see the kind of things he cares about? He's way more freaked out about you being an alien than a prince. I'm curious, what ARE the difference between agistar and king, artlan and prince? I'd think that the concepts would be close enough that they'd translate as such. I know that king/queen is usually through divine right, but sometimes it can just be through family/name. Anyway, very exciting! Can't wait (gonna have to *sobbing emoji*)!

I'm glad you're excited for that story! It's been in the works a long time do I'm looking forward to sharing it. The 2 reasons artaln and agistar won't translate is because they actually aren't really that close to king or prince: the oenclar government is the most similar (but not entirely) to a constitutional monarchy, but the agistar has more power than a typical king in that type of government, but is also checked by other branches of the government. The word still might actually translate as king if ALAN knew what a constitutional monarchy was and didn't think of a king as the way Keyd kind of described it - royal blood or divine right, since that's how the clar original rulers worked too, but not anymore. Since frequency translates based on what an individual knows combined with the gist of the word, what Alan thinks of as a king is not close enough in his mind to translate 'agistar ' to king (if anything he'd hear 'president', but then no translation for artaln either...maybe vice president but that's also not accurate). There will be more specified about this later, but tl;dr the concepts aren't quiiiite close enough to translate to a person who has super limited knowledge of ruling styles : )
