We answer your questions about all the important topics: Onderon's politics, the history of rural vs urban revolution, which Star Wars characters we'd bring to a dinner party. You know, normal stuff. delightful to hear you all get cautiously hopeful about andor, now knowing what’s coming!

Molly M

I found you guys through your andor s1 coverage, and now finally listening to the backlog it's so fun to hear your initial takes on the show!

Luke Garbutt

I don't know if they get there, but the episode that was "its a rework of the pacifist lemurs, but better" is the first Mandalore/Satine arc. I think either Austin or Rob literally say this.

KamenOtaku

Saw also shows up in Jedi: Fallen Order

Colin

Knowing how season 5 ends makes we want to scream every time someone says Filoni isn’t Jedi critical

MuttonBandit

Kieran from the 1st question here. Calling you civilians or civvies felt weird in a way amore did not and absolutely meant it both ways. I will continue until everyone else does too. Also don't speak Italian, so I have no idea if it works for plural.

Dimosar

I think it was the Cham Syndulla stuff. The twilek planet

logan

Austin is right, white boys do be looking alike

Coreyyy

"When are we gonna see them [anakin and padme] fuck?" - Natalie Watson

Mats Kristian Lekang

Did they tall about it in a recent episode though? Because I too remember them just saying the line, like in the last few weeks. But who the f knows, what is time anyways.

Luke Garbutt

What are the other pacifist cultures though? That are treated as legitimate-rather than straw-men?

David Todd

I’m pretty sure it’s actually just the most recent arc on Onderon. Weren’t they talking about it in relation to the old King? It’s 100% either Onderon or Dooku Lost.

Luke Garbutt

Onderons a good call, but they're not particularly pacifist. The old king is more inactive than pacifist

David Todd

There’s a discussion around the 2hr mark til about 2hr5 about this - although I don’t think they mention the lemurs. But I’m pretty sure it’s in the this episode so I’ll keep digging.

David Todd

MEERKAT MENTION AT 2:11:46!!!

Ems

Maybe people already answered on twitter, but incase they haven’t, the episode that is “redo meerkats” were the ones with satine and her brand of pacifism

David Todd

It’s even more recent! They talk about it after 2hrs on the most recent episode on Onderon!

Andorks: A Star Wars Podcast

I feel compelled to stand up for Stitch: He's one of the biggest merch sellers at Disney, I imagine because the ad campaign for the movie was pretty impressionable on that generation of 90's/2000's. Plus he's cute af

Ereg

In Universe conspiracy theory that Luke is actually Baby Ludi

josh nelson

There's also an upsetting line of Muppets x Star Wars figures that features Gonzo as Darth Vader and Sam Eagle as Obi Wan

Begemott

"Holonet" is such a good word. I love a fantasy version of the internet, in Kill Six Billion Demons there's a one-off mention of something called "the glyphosphere".

Alberto Foglia

Plural would be 'amori', which I think still works though :)

Alberto Foglia

Regarding alien prosthetics and make up, shout outs to the chads at the Babylon 5 makeup department and to Andreas Katsulas for 5 seasons of G'Kar, including red contact lenses.

Kzinssie

Honestly feel like y'all are being a little unfair to the concept of kings within a decolonization narrative like this. Obviously kings are bad and it sucks that the arc doesn't spend more time with normal civilians, but for a colonized people a rightful king represents a traditional power structure that is being usurped, in this case by a force that doesn't even actually have any anti-monarchist sentiment because they literally installed a different, shittier king.

Scotty Jones

They are dismissive of the idea because it is fantasy in this context. Onderon is not a backwater, any ruler that planet has is going to be “compatible” to an empire and not “chosen” by the people. Onderon is Iran Contra from the US pop culture perspective.

Kzinssie

That's fair, but I still think it was weird that it was dismissed so quickly and entirely on a purely anti-royalist basis when there's plenty of other stuff going on there within this narrative. I expected there to at least be some discussion on that point? I dunno.

Ampersandrew

There's precedent for the former at least. Gonzo as Vader goes back to The Muppet Show in 1979 when he played "Dearth Nadir" on Pigs in Space. Most famously he'd portray the character in 1980 in the "Star Wars cast" episode (guest starring Hamill as himself and Luke Skywalker in-character, Mayhew as Chewbacca, Daniels as C3PO) https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/muppet/images/9/9c/Dearth_Nadir.jpg

Jake

Yea, she’s also did Master & Apprentice. Think that Bloodlines is better. But speaking of M&A, I read that but never listened to Dooku. I guess Rael being characterized as a cowboy-voice guy makes sense, but I read him 100% as having like a Cockney accent. Fun character

Alex

Was really interesting to hear Austin speak on Tales of the Jedi here. I’m completely *loud fart noises* on the references Clone Wars pulls but I love those comics and their kinda overwrought mythologizing and strange as hell characters and dirty ass aesthetic. So cool.
