EDIT: This should be working now!

Happy Halloween and welcome to a very spoOooOoooky edition of A More Civilized Q&A. Why is it so spooky? Well, let me tell you: A spectre is haunting the Galaxy -- the spectre of communism.

Joking... but only sort of. We go deep into your Andor questions for nearly two hours in this bonus size Q&A. And yes, we DO share our thoughts on the Star Wars galaxy's leftist theory, the place of (or lack of) religion in the Empire, and the most important question of all: How would we spend 80,000,000 credits on our own space revolutionary movement. Enjoy!

Excellent excellent point—if any show is thinking about this and applying it consciously, I bet it’s The Brasso Program here

Molly Weinberger

What would he be drawing on from Makhno? How to scam workers by declaring money summarily abolished when it comes time to pay them?

Sawyer Sipes

this episode seems messed up! showing up as 0.00 minutes long for me

Jo

is this ep live? i see it on my podcast app but when i try to download i just get an error message that "the requested url could not be found but may be available again in the future". itchin to get into those good andor Qs&As!

Saxoclone

Not just you, I am also seeing 0 minutes and a replay button. Something appears to be borked.

anon

In my mind palace imagining all 2.5 hours of the q&a from the show notes because the download won't work hehe

Blastoise_M

episode works now! thanks for fixing it, y'all the best

David Montes

Lol I thought it was my app or something. Restarted my phone 😂

Saxoclone

Looks good now, thanks folks!

anon

People out here bricking their phones for the eps

Jo

thank you, downloaded!

SDSC Lee

Thanks for the quick fix!

Kenzie Morrison

thanks for reading my q!! 🥰🥰🥰 great ep, we are FEASTING

Boogie

The "Luthen has a drawer full of kyber crystals he uses as bribes" is straight out of Strange Days with Lenny and his fake watches, I would love if that was the angle they take on it.

Alice H

For me to enjoy Luthen as a character I need him to have been sort of genuine. Better than 50% at least

Rhiannon Daly

Re: the tie fighter question, it's also worth noting that the tie fighter noise was based on the Junkers Ju87, a dive bomber used by the luftwaffe in ww2. It had a siren that played a screaming noise as an intimidation tactic. The original inclusion of the tie fighter in star wars was a direct reference to nazi terror tactics, and as natalie pointed out it only later became a toy. There were real people who had the same experience shown here in andor- hearing that noise, fearing immediate death, hiding wherever they could

Thomas Cannon

Still getting a “not found” error in Overcast 😭

Toni

me too

Katie Knaebe

My thought on the lack of “don’t give in to anger” on this show. The Empire is shrouded and completely immersed in the Dark Side; it makes sense that those who “give in to anger” are most effective within it. This of course, is in addition to any of the points mentioned here (lack of Jedi/obvious presence of the Force, etc)—although I’d argue that the absence of discussion of the Force is in part to hide the pervasive presence of the Dark Side everywhere.

TMHECTOR

My question has been saved for later…

civilized

This is such an incredible detail. Had no idea! Thanks.

civilized

Try adding and removing the feed maybe? There's not really anything we can do on our side for particular podcatchers. Podcasting is (thankfully, but also sometimes annoyingly) fairly "low touch" as far as distribution goes.

civilized

Sorry! Time was a real issue on this one, and yours was one we could DEFINITELY wrap back around to!

TMHECTOR

No worries! I just found it funny

eddie phlash

So I'm listening in the car while out to grab lunch, waiting on the drive through line, and just as Rob slides into his drawl "Last time I saw you, you were going by Sheev", a dude with a white mustache and cowboy hat walks out of the Arby's. I died.

Toni

fwiw that didn’t work for me (just to save the others the work). Thanks for the reply. I’m listening via the patreon app now, that works well enough. I guess it might start to work in Overcast once some caches refresh.

James Older

On Tales of the Jedi. I'd say you can watch the episodes about Dooku but not the Ahsoka episodes until you've finished Clone Wars (including Season 7).

Thomas Cannon

No worries! I reached out to them on Twitter. Not a huge deal (and thank god for decentralized platforms)

Alex V.

The Dooku episodes of Tales of the Jedi are safe to watch, but do NOT watch the Ahsoka episodes until you finish all of Clone Wars.

Solomon Mars

I enjoyed hearing a little mention of Earthsea

Solomon Mars

Also I disagree Austin, I think the melanin count in the AMCA is higher than you think. Remember though depending on when you got on the internet and your history of interactions aling with the behavior of the SW community might cause some of us to be less open to declaring our depth of melanin. I mean really.

Lexi

I can't believe this podcast has jedi pilled me about Luthen to the point I've transcended to thinking about the "rule of two" whilst empathising with kleya as a force sensitive youngling during the purge... Love the 5 🌟 runtimes! Keep up the good work

Luin

while i think theres a lot of yt ppl in sw fandom, i think, simultaneously, poc r perceived as less present than they actually are bc we just dont talk most of time

Nirav Sanghani

As a fellow PoC SW fan, I can confirm that I almost never talk about it.

Cam

I know this is in the episodes past this Q&A but since watching Rogue One I've thought that, yes, Melshi deserves more screen time (odd side note, but I believe Force Awakens was the first time a Scottish accent was heard in the Star Wars films (I think Denis Lawson was doing an American accent as Wedge). Anyway, point being that Melshi can get it.

Katrice Howard-Brooks

PoC SW fan here. Just never really commented or mention it much.

Ampersandrew

Rob calling the budget Rebel Death Star "Life Star" is great considering that in Star Wars Infinities: A New Hope (part of 3 what if? comics spinning out from each original movie) the Empire rebrands it as "Justice Star" on the anniversary of the alliance's defeat (but not planetary destruction) at Yavin.

Ampersandrew

I appreciate Andor rehabilitating Tie Fighters the same way I appreciated The Mandalorian rehabbing a single AT-ST in the season 1 village besieged episode

FruitFrakker

On the talk of Space Theory, my feeling is that the sorts of people Nemik would be drawing from are the equivalent to Neurodists and Nestor Makhno.

FruitFrakker

Also re development of Nemik's ideas into an understanding of capitalism as a system to itself/interfaces with statist-imperialism, I have to assume everyone recognizes... obviously Disney Star Wars but also when it was just LucasFilm; they'll never directly say 'Communism is Correct'. Like they can obliquely criticize capitalism, specifically the symptoms of Capitalism, but as a system... I think there are limits to what they can say, even if they desire to say it.

Emily Schmemily

Is anyone else having trouble with the RSS feed? When I import my link, it stops at Dooku: Jedi Lost. Nothing that came out after that is showing up. I'm wondering if it has to do with the fact that I was a previous supporter but had stopped for money reasons. When I stopped last, Jedi Lost was the most recent patreon episode. But now that I'm back, I only seem to be able to get the episodes direct from here

FruitFrakker

Do I put questions for the next QnA here?
