Welcome to the Q&A for April 2023! This month, we get some great questions about the Legacy material: We ponder whether Anakin could have made a Quinlan style return to the Jedi. We consider the Vos of the old EU. We answer which topics we'd like to see covered in Rebels and beyond. And, of course, we find ourselves going further and further off topic.

Because of this pod a month ago I watched the Jedi Stories, which lead to me watching season 7 (all I knew about clone wwars was AMCA) and then Rebels and I'm so curious about the conversations and reactions to it you'll have. Especially after hearing what you like to see/be interested in and what the show actually is. Trying not to qualify anything to not hint but it's really hard - but I'm sure, those will be good pods to listen

John Bradley

1:35:00 If they get Hayden Christensen in as Anakin I will go into that show at 100%. No defenses. *Andor in the last scene of Andor voice* "kill me, or take me in."

probablyabott

So incredibly hyped for yall to start Rebels!!

Jason

Might be misremembering but i think that blue twilek in that post is Aayla Secura, Quinlan Voss' former padawan who treated Voss like a father in the old EU. Which again is funnily enough, only hinted at during that lemur episode of The Clone Wars when she is talking to Ahsoka about attachments. He really did seem to get the short end of the stick when it comes to the EU characters they decided to reference.

So I was that anonymous asker with the question about continuing or dropping threads. I signed my name at the end of the email, do I need to sign it a certain way for it to not be anonymous?

Chris McMullen

Great ep as always, can’t wait for Rebels. FYI the new Rey Skywalker story is going to be a movie, not a series.

Colin C.

I want y'all to do the Voss comics, but mostly so I can hear Austin do more of the 'bat guy' voice. Love it :-)

doolsey

I agree with Natalie about being silly pilled. Star Wars can be fun when it wants to be and I appreciate that about it 😄

Shaq Attack

You guys are going to like Rebels.

Cam

My Mortis pitch would probably be that the family, in the far, far past, were a morality play troupe doing scenes from a folk understanding of the force who get set in their roles by some kind of maguffin. People with identities having them stripped away by reperforming that cycle

Patrick Kay

The amount of poorly drawn faces screaming "NO!!!!!!" is going to shock anyone going back to the 90s/00s Dark Horse comics. Well, I guess Star Wars does have a lot of dudes screaming NO anyway. But it's exceptionally bad prose compared to both the current Marvel series and the 70s/80s material. Writing was much more about Big Ideas for The Franchise (usually in literal repetition of symbols, even 25000 years in the past) than crafting nice sentences, so I hope y'all keep that in mind if you ever traverse back there. It was Star-Wars-by-way-of-Disturbed. It's at times hard for me to see the positives, though I recognize them - like Vos's EU arc, for example. But Rebels? Rebels can swing big and write well. That's where the future (see: nine year old series) of Star Wars is.

I'm rewatching Rebels for the umpteenth time in prep for yall starting it, and oh man I am so excited to hear your takes. and re: Hondo -- I watched Rebels before I watched Clone Wars, and I can absolutely say that Rebels is why I like Hondo. CW Hondo is....not interesting or fun.

Blandon

If you like Jedi with guns, you’re gonna like Rebels

BlankPaige

Gonna be the last person to say it, but yeah, Rebels gets pretty OK, shame about how it looks early on.

Meg

We need more quizzes!

Meg

/ post the quiz please

Will R

I love this pod. Thank you!

Mike F.

I would watch Natalie's Mortis pitch. "How does papa take his coffee?" can only have one answer though: half-and-half

Charlie Reavette

Darth Marr in SWTOR is a pretty cool Sith, if only because his primary motivation is to be the strongest warrior ever, but not in a "I must kill everyone else to prove that" sort of way, and part of that is ensuring that his society is also strong, well run and has solid support systems in place. He'll sit down at a negotiation table with the Jedi to argue terms, sure, why not. The Sith are so mismanaged that even a character as basic as that seems novel in comparison.

Zach G

Austin keeps stating that only the first two episodes of Andor were released on the first day, but the first three episode arc was released at the same time. Fun fact - Dedra didn't even appear until episode 4.

Morgan Hawkins

Hey, thanks for reading my post on Quinlan Vos! Made my week! - The blue twi'lek in the first image is indeed Aayla Secura, Vos' padawan, on a mission to bring "Korto" in from deep cover. - The Jedi Master in the fourth image is some rando "Master Kolar" who was asked to bring Vos in by the council because he's a dweeby sap and will believe everything Vos tells him

Christian Helgeson

It is the nature of all podcasting that you must yell at your favs for getting basic facts wrong

Lokathor

I would never have thought to lie about having read or watched a thing. Never occurred to me that you could even try to pull that off.

Solomon Mars

Based on the length of the Death Star conversation y'all had and how much y'allenjoyed Andor, It sounds like the four of you should read or listen to the Rogue One Catalyst book or audiobook. Preferably the audiobook because they interject the margin notes in the form of data journal readings.

present

The two years there that Favreau is speaking about seems to be the two years between the end of S2 and start of S3 in terms of production and when it was released, not 2 years in the universe. The last episode of Season 2 was December 18, 2020, the first of Season 3 March 1, 2023, so he was thinking "start of 2021 to start of 2023, yeah its been basically 2 years"

Blandon

“He joined the marines because of 9/11” “You mean, like, after?” *stunned silence* Absolutely perfect

tobias

rebels gonna be so good. star wars is so silly and if it weren't for amca i would probably still be a 6 movies type of guy, but every pod hearing you talk makes the silly sillier and the good gooder. bated breath for mando pod. mortis4eva

Carson Bush

This may have been answered elsewhere but are there any plans to look at the 2003 Clone Wars shorts directed by Tartakovsky? Easily one of my favorite pieces of Star Wars media anywhere.

Jason

I think Austin may have mentioned once that they would watch it right before season 7 of clone wars.

Zach G

if watching along for the first time, be careful when youtubing trailers and stuff for rebels... you will start getting videos recommended to you that are huge spoilers, just full on scenes from later seasons.

Rappy

Backing up the gang's commentary early on in this episode: Qui-Gon absolutely would have known about Satine, since the recent Star Wars Timelines casually drops that HE also had a tryst with some unknown individual on Felucia.

Littleleafers

Loved the Sith question. I miss the old Sith canon. Best canonical Darkside story in my opinion is Maul.

LadyKnightTheBrave

I know y'all are absolutely chugging on the bonus episode for Mandalorian Season 3 but Good LORD I cannot wait for you to do a bonus ep on season 2 of visions. The Cartoon Saloon short is incredible

Defrost

Vision s2 episode would be hype!

Verdigree

I wish your The Dragon Prince Veil of Ignorance metaphor could be elaborated on, because in the spirit of honesty from that podcast, I haven't seen it and don't know what your simile meant
