Hello everyone! Getting this one in a little late (just under the wire of September) because Cado came down with Covid! Please send them your best wishes as they recover.

As promised, here are our night 1 and night 2, recorded-on-a-phone Starcruiser diaries! As you'll hear, some of this is material we talked through on the main feed episode, but some of it is really grounded in the then-and-thereness of it all. 

We've got one more special Starcruiser post in the hopper, as we're gathering together all of our photos of the Halcyon, Batuu, and the rest of our Star Wars adventure. We'll post those in another Patreon update in the coming days!

I just got back from the Starcruiser and am feeling the post-cruise sads. Partly because I feel like I didn't insert myself into the story as much as I could have, but mostly because I can't ever go again for a redo. The passengers were all so friendly and we received so many little gifts from them. The actors were really great at helping us feel immersed, and our Lt Croy was a special bright spot. I think for some of them, our voyage was their last performance, and they were holding back some tears at the end. It's sad that it's going away after such a short run, but how cool for the actors that they played Canon characters! Can't wait to hear what yall's experience was like!

I forget who brought it up and what the time stamp was, but someone thought it was remarkable that a kid knelt before Kylo at the disney star wars park. it was in a way like 'doesn't he know how bad that is' kind of a thing. Just let a kid be goofy, who cares

Judging them from their previous work, these 4 people know better than to laugh at a child and put that on a podcast. Secondly, that moment had been contextualised by them remarking on the abundance of blue lives matter shirts. The civvies were clearly alarmed by what kind of environment leads kids to respond to authority figures with a worrying degree of submission

lumping a kid kneeling to Kylo ren with that stuff is bananas. I still can’t find the time stamp but the kneeling kid was mentioned like it was the cherry on top of problematic stormtrooper fans. I’ve never wanted a storm trooper suit or anything but I’ve never begrudged anybody for that sort of thing, especially a kid. It’s fantasy.

They weren’t laughing at the kid. It was pretty clear to me that they were commenting on the people there not doing their parental due diligence. Who doesn’t correct their child if said child enters into a phase of worshiping a murderous dictator wannabe?

I just listened to this part with your criticism in mind and I think you reaaaaaally are cherry picking with this gripe. They provide some context for why it was funny in the moment , but also even without that context and as a regular listener of this show, it is still VERY funny for a kid to pledge allegiance to Kylo Ren and him to just dismiss them lol. Even without all the Blue Lives Matter/Fascists Get’em Early talk.
