Hello everyone! Today we begin our journey into the Tales of the Jedi comics from the mid 90s, a not-so-surprisingly relevant supplement to our dive into the Knights of the Old Republic games! Join us as we learn about ancient Sith rivalries, the power of battle meditation, and a Hutt mechanic who wears a little fez.

Next time: Tales of the Jedi 1-5, Tales of the Jedi: The Freedon Nadd Uprising (1 &2), Tales of the Jedi: Dark Lords of the Sith 1-6

Was just about to ask that, I must know

Loved hearing you guys get into this stuff, TOTJ is one of my favorite Legends comics. Re: canon battle meditation, it is essentially the signature skill of Avar Kriss, one of the major characters from the High Republic, but since it's an era without so much large-scale war, it isn't described with that particular term

Also, while the Dark Horse omnibus is hard to find, Marvel recently republished this series in their "epic collections" line. I believe there are 3 volumes of Tales of the Jedi

Found a way to read them through the Marvel Unlimited app so that’s good! I realize how old I’ve gotten and it’s been a long time since I read comics…sometimes they are hard to read lol. Pretty interesting tho!

They’re gonna like Incident at Horn Station if they do the other Tales. Would be funny to hear them react to Extinction which IIRC was our first glimpse at what eventually was canonised as Order 66(in a story released within a year of Phantom Menace about conehead’s master)

I’m 99% sure Marvel haven’t ever rebooted their main comics universe to change origin story dates etc. - there is a grey area after Hickman’s Secret Wars that you could argue the toss on, but that’s it I think.

Last I saw, they were flirting with the idea of doing a podcast reading through the comic 52. Guess it's actually happening?

I highly recommend going back to the 70s-80s Marvel comics someday! I read them all on Marvel Unlimited and they hold up much better than Dark Horse material - mostly it's big ideas and wacky hijinks as opposed to the oppressive DH tone. At the very least check out the very little work Alan Moore did for Star Wars.

I was confused on what to read when I signed up for a Marvel Unlimited trial. But I finally figured it out. In Marvel Unlimited for this episode it’s: Tales of the Jedi: Golden Age of the Sith #0-5 Tales of the Jedi: Fall of the Sith Empire #1-5

Thanks! As a non comics person, going off of my podcast feed and what was being said in the episode I really could not find the comic being discussed. Really wish the episode had more clarity

Thank you! Saved me from spending €90 for a used copy of the omnibus!
