New Veils: Gifts of the Bearer

Band of Adaptability

Descriptors: Acid, Cold, Electricity, Fire, Sonic, Negative Energy, Positive Energy

Class: Vizier

Slot: Ring

Saving Throw: n/a

The queen of the humans was gifted a ring which allowed her people to survive in any locale, and any clime.

Shaping this veil allows you to survive in nearly any locale, allowing you to easily and effortlessly adapt to your surrounding. While this veil is shaped you only need 2 hours of sleep per day to gain the benefits of 8 hours of sleep, and you do not need to eat or drink to survive.

Additionally, you gain the benefits of endure elements as a constant effect, and you gain resistance 5 to a single element chosen from the following list when you shape the veil: acid, cold, electricity, fire, sonic, negative energy, positive energy. This veil also gains that descriptor. You may change your selected energy resistance by meditating for 1 minute. This elemental resistance stacks with others of the same type.

As a standard action, you can grant the effects of endure elements and your chosen resistance to a number of touched creatures equal to your 3+veilweaving modifier per day. They gain these benefits as long as the veil is shaped, and they stay within 30 feet of you. You can change the creatures affected by this veil as a standard action as many times per day as you wish.

Essence: For each point of essence invested in this veil, the provided resistance to your chosen element increases by 5, and increases the distance allies must remain within to maintain the protections offered by this veil by 10 feet.

Chakra Bind (Ring): Binding this veil to your Ring chakra allows you to survive in even more dangerous and exotic locales. If you breathe air, you gain the ability to breathe underwater, and vice versa.

If you travel to another planet or plane of existence, you gain immunity to the natural hazards of that plane, including such hazards as toxicity, extreme temperatures, and lack of air. These benefits apply to the allies you have shared your resistances with as well. You and your allies do not gain these benefits while on your home planet, or from the normal hazards of the material plane.

Band of Creation

Descriptors: none

Class: Vizier

Slot: Ring

Saving Throw: n/a

The king of the dwarves was gifted a ring which allowed him to bring the works of his dreams to fruition.

Shaping this veil grants you control over the powers of creation, allowing you to fabricate mundane items at an enhanced rate and allowing you to magically repair broken objects and veils. While you have this veil shaped, you can craft mundane items at twice the rate, essentially completing two weeks worth of work for every one week spent. When making items of very low cost, you can also make checks by the day instead of by the week if desired. In this case your progress should be divided by the number of days in a week that you worked. When crafting items using this veil, you gain a +1 insight bonus to your Craft check.

Additionally, you gain the power to repair broken items and restore suppressed veils. As a standard action a number of times per day equal to 3 + veilweaving modifier, you can repair a broken or destroyed item for 1d6 points of damage. If an item is destroyed, all of its pieces (or replacement pieces) must be provided for this veil to repair it. You can also use this ability to restore destroyed magic items and restore the magic properties of the item if your veilweaving level is at least equal to the caster level of the item. When doing so, all the pieces of the broken item must be present (you cannot use replacements in this case).

This ability can also be used to restore a suppressed veil. You must touch the veilweaver who shaped the suppressed veil as part of using this ability, and select one of their suppressed veils. That veil is immediately unsuppressed, as if the duration of its suppression had expired. This ability cannot be used to restore veils that have been completely dispelled.

Essence: For each point of essence invested in this veil, you increase the rate at which you craft items by 1 times (three times for 1 essence, four times for 2 essence, etc), and you increase the amount of HP restored when repairing broken items by 2d6.

Chakra Bind (Ring): Binding this veil to your Ring chakra allows you to improve the rate at which you craft magic items, and allows you to directly fabricate items using raw materials. When you bind this veil, you gain a single magic item crafting feat from the following list: Craft Construct, Craft Magic Arms and Armor, Craft Wondrous Item or Forge Ring. When using this feat, this veil’s bonus to the rate at which you craft mundane items now applies to magic items created using that feat as well, as does its bonus to Craft checks. When using this feat, you substitute your ranks in the appropriate Craft skill for your total caster level (Craft (armor) for Armor, Craft (weapons) for Weapons, Craft (alchemy) for Potions, etc) and use that skill in place of Spellcraft when crafting the item. The DC to create the item still increases for any necessary spell requirements you are missing.

In addition, you gain the ability to magically fabricate raw materials into completed goods, as the spell. Doing so uses up one of the daily uses of your repair ability granted by this veil. You use your veilweaving level as your caster level for this ability.

Band of Destruction

Descriptors: none

Class: Vizier

Slot: Ring

Saving Throw: none

The warlord of the orcs was gifted a ring to sow the destruction he so sought.

Shaping this veil allows you to infuse your touch with destructive energies. You can use this ability to make a sunder attempt using this veil as a standard action that does not provoke attacks of opportunity a number of times per day equal to 3 + your veilweaving modifier. When making this attempt, you use your veilweaving level in place of your base attack bonus and your veilweaving modifier in place of your Strength.

On a successful hit, you deal damage equal to 2 x your veilweaving level + your veilweaving modifier. This damage ignores any hardness less than 20. Any abilities that increase your damage made with sunder attempts also increases the damage of this veil.

Essence: For each point of essence invested in this veil, you treat your veilweaving level with this veil as 1 higher.

Chakra Bind (Ring): Binding this veil to your Ring chakra dramatically improves its destructive capabilities, allowing it to sunder magic itself. When you successfully sunder a veil using the abilities of this veil, it is suppressed for 1d4 minutes instead of 1d4 rounds.

Additionally, you gain the ability to sunder spells and magical effects using the ability of this veil. The CMD of a magical effect is equal to 15 + the effect’s caster level (or veilweaving level, for magical effects created by veils). To sunder an effect on a creature, you must succeed at a normal sunder combat maneuver against the creature’s CMD + 5, ignoring any miss chance caused by a spell or spell-like ability.

Band of Disruption

Descriptors: none

Class: Vizier

Slot: Ring

Saving Throw: see text

The queen of the elves was gifted a ring to protect her realms from the magics of her foes.

Shaping this veil grants you a +2 insight bonus on Spellcraft checks and Knowledge (arcana) checks to identify the effects of spells and veils, and grants you the ability to counter them. When a creature casts a spell or uses an ability of a veil that costs actions within 60 feet of you, you can attempt to counter that effect as an immediate action a number of times per day equal to your half your veilweaving modifier (minimum 1). At any time as a free action you may bind a single point of essence invested in this veil to gain an additional use of this ability.

You must have line of sight to the spellcaster or veilweaver and succeed at a dispel check (1d20 + your veilweaver level), comparing that to the spell or veil effect to be countered (DC = 11 + the spell’s caster level or veilweaver level).

On a success, a targeted spell is countered, completing negating its effects. A targeted veil has its effect countered, negating its effects, and the veil and any essence invested in it is suppressed for 1d4 rounds.

Essence: Each point of essence invested in this veil increases its bonus to Spellcraft and Knowledge (arcana) checks by 1. For every 2 points of essence invested in this veil, you gain a +1 bonus to your veilweaver check made to counter effects.

Chakra Bind (Ring): Binding this veil to your Ring chakra allows you to turn the effects you counter back on their creator. When you successfully counter a spell or veil effect using this veil, you may turn it back on its caster or veilweaver instead of countering the effect. When you do so, you use your veilweaving level + your veilweaving modifier in place of any attack rolls, and this veil’s saving throw DC in place of the saving throw DC of the countered effect. If the effect targeted an area, you may choose a new target location within the spells range, using your space as its starting point. If this effect targeted one creature, it targets the caster or veilweaver. If this effect targeted multiple creatures, you may choose new targets for the effect, one of which must be the caster or veilweaver.

For each point of essence invested in this veil, you gain a +1 insight bonus to your attack rolls made with countered spells or veil effects. For every two points of essence invested, you increase the DC of countered spells or veil effects by +1.

Band of Fortune

Descriptors: none

Class: Vizier

Slot: Ring

Saving Throw: none

The leader of the halfling’s was gifted a ring to bring them a touch of luck.

Shaping this veil causes you to become inexplicably lucky. Whenever you roll a d20 or an enemy within 30 feet rolls a d20, after you see the results of the roll you can roll a second d20 as an immediate action. You can then choose which of the results of these d20’s is used for that roll. You can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + your veilweaving modifier.

Essence: For each point of essence invested in this veil, you may modify the roll of your second d20 by plus or minus 1 (to a maximum of 20, and a minimum of 1). This adjustment is counted as the natural roll of the die, allowing it to be a critical success or critical failure.

Chakra Bind (Ring): Binding this veil to your Ring chakra causes the energy of fate to boon your lucky allies, and curse your unlucky foes. Whenever an ally within 30 feet of you rolls a natural 20 on any d20 roll, the powers of fate imbue them with luck for 1 minute, granting them a +2 luck bonus on all of their d20 rolls of the same type (ability checks, attack rolls, caster/manifestation/veilweaving checks, saving throws, skill checks) for the next minute.

Whenever an enemy within 30 feet of you rolls a 1 on any d20 roll, the powers of fate curse them with unluck for 1 minute, imposing a -2 penalty on all of their d20 rolls of the same type for the next minute.

The bonuses and penalties applied by this effect are increased by 1 per three essence invested in this veil.

Band of Trickery

Descriptors: Illusion, Teleportation

Class: Vizier

Slot: Ring

Saving Throw: n/a

The king of the gnomes was gifted a ring to confuse and disrupt his foes.

Shaping this veil allows you to teleport yourself a short distance, leaving behind an illusory double that shields you from prying eyes as long as it persists. As a move action, you can teleport 15 feet and leave behind an illusory double. This double shares your AC, CMD, and Saves, but if it takes damage it is immediately destroyed. This double persists for 1 round, and you and your gear are invisible until it is destroyed, or its duration ends. This double takes no actions, but acts like it is defending itself. If you use this ability again while a illusory double is active, the first is destroyed.

If you take any harmful actions (as per the invisibility spell) the invisibility ends, and the illusory double is destroyed. If a creature interacts with your double, they receive a Will saving throw to disbelieve the illusion. If they do so successfully, they can see through the invisibility provided by this veil. This teleport does not provoke attacks of opportunity, and can be performed as long as you can perform fully mental actions. You need line of sight and line of effect to the location you wish to teleport to. You can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + your veilweaving modifier.

Essence: For each point of essence invested in this veil, the distance you can teleport increases by 5 feet, the duration of your illusory double increases by 1 round, and the DC for disbelieving the effects of this veil increases by +1.

Chakra Bind (Ring): Binding this veil to your Ring chakra allows you to teleport in response to harm, allowing you to use the abilities of this veil as an immediate action. If you do so in response to being targeted by an ability or attack, that ability or attack targets your illusory double. In such a case, if it hits your double’s AC or CMD, you are still partially hit by the attack before you can teleport, if your double fails a saving throw, you are still partially affected by the ability. If the attack or ability does damage, you take half the damage in such a case. If it applies a status effect that has reduced effects on a successful save, you take those effects. You still reach the destination of your teleport, even if the attack or ability would restrict your movement (unless it also restricts teleportation).
