Greaves of Skirmishing

Descriptors: None

Class: Daevic, Eclipse, Guru, Helmsman, Huay, Kheshig, Stormbound, Vizier

Slot: Feet

Saving Throw: None

These lightweight greaves enhance your movements, subtly guiding you to avoid your enemies’ strikes with each step.

Shaping this veil makes your movements more nimble, allowing you to better avoid the strikes of your foes. You gain a +1 dodge bonus to your AC. This bonus increases by a further +3 against attacks of opportunity caused when you move out of or within a threatened area. A condition that makes you lose your Dexterity bonus to Armor Class (if any) also makes you lose this dodge bonus.

Essence: For each point of essence invested in this veil, the dodge bonus against attacks of opportunity granted by this veil increases by an additional +1. For every 3 points of essence invested in this veil, the base dodge bonus to AC granted by this veil increases by +1.

Chakra Bind (Feet): Binding this veil to your Feet chakra further enhances your mobility, allowing you to perform actions in the middle of your movement. As a full-round action, you can move up to your speed and perform a single action you could normally perform as a standard action. You can move both before and after this action, but the total distance you move cannot be greater than your speed.

Slashing Volley

Descriptors: Enhanced (weapon, see text)

Class: Daevic, Helmsman, Stormbound, Nexus, Vizier

Slot: Wrists

Saving Throw: None

This enigmatic veil takes the form of a shortbow or a curved blade when needed, allowing you to rapidly engage or disengage the foes you strike with it.

This veil may only be enhanced with weapon abilities that could be applied to either an elven cursed blade or a composite shortbow. When in its curved blade form, it loses any abilities that only apply to the shortbow, and vice versa when in its shortbow form.

Shaping this veil grants you a strange weapon formed of shifting energy that changes its shape between an elven curved blade and a composite shortbow. When you first shape this veil, choose either curved blade or shortbow. The weapon conjured by the veil takes that shape. Whenever you reinvest your essence, you can change the shape of the weapon. The composite property of this shortbow automatically adjusts to your current Strength score each time it takes that form, and it can produce its own mundane ammunition.

When you make an attack against a creature using this veil, after the attack is resolved you can perform one of the following abilities as a free action based on the veil’s form. The total movement made in a round using these abilities cannot exceed your movement speed. When moving using these abilities, you gain a +2 insight bonus to Acrobatics checks made to move through threatened squares and do not need to move at half speed to do so.

  • With the veil in its curved blade form, you can move up to your speed (minimum 10 feet) and change the veil to its shortbow form. This movement must be in a straight line away from the attacked foe. You cannot make a Stealth check as part of this movement, but may perform other checks as part of movement as normal (such as Acrobatics checks to jump or to move through threatened squares).
  • With the veil in its shortbow form, you can move up to your speed (minimum 10 feet) and change the veil to its curved blade form. This movement must be in a straight line towards the attacked foe. You cannot make a Stealth check as part of this movement, but may perform other checks as part of movement as normal.

Additionally, whenever you attack a creature using the veil in its curved blade form, the next attack you make with the veil in its shortbow form against that creature before the end of your next turn deals an additional 1d6 points of precision damage, and vice versa for attacks made using the veil in its shortbow form.

Essence: For each point of essence invested in this veil, the precision damage dealt to a creature after a form shift increases by 1d6 and the insight bonus to Acrobatics checks to move through threatened squares increases by +1.

Chakra Bind (Wrists): Binding this veil to your Wrists chakra further empowers the veil, allowing you to effortlessly weave attacks together using its multiple forms. Once per round, after using the ability of this veil to move and change its form you may make an attack using the veil against that same target as a free action at your full base attack bonus. This extra attack cannot be used alongside the extra attack granted by haste or similar effects.

Additionally, if you possess any feats or class features that would apply to one form of the veil and could also be applied to the other form of the veil, both forms of the veil gain the benefits of that feat. Feats like Weapon Focus (elven curved blade) or the fighter’s weapon training class feature would be affected by this ability, but not feats such as Power Attack or Deadly Aim.

Pursuer’s Cuffs

Descriptors: None

Class: Daevic, Eclipse, Guru, Helmsman, Huay, Kheshig, Stormbound, Vizier

Slot: Feet, Wrists

Saving Throw: None

Translucent cufflinks of humming energy adorn your wrists, driving you to endlessly pursue your fleeing foes.

Shaping this veil grants you the ability to pursue your foes who attempt to flee from you. Whenever an enemy adjacent to you takes a 5-foot step, you may also make a 5-foot step as an immediate action. You must end this 5-foot step adjacent to the enemy that triggered this ability. If you use this ability, you cannot take a 5-foot step during your next turn. If you take an action to move during your next turn, subtract the movement made using this veil from your total movement.

Essence: For each point of essence invested in this veil you may move an additional 5 feet as part of using this veil. All movement you make using this ability after the first 5 feet provokes attacks of opportunity as normal, but not from the enemy that triggered this veil’s effect.

Chakra Bind (Feet): Binding this veil to your Feet chakra allows you to better pursue your foes without affecting your later movements. When using the ability of this veil to take a 5-foot step, it no longer restricts your ability to take a 5-foot step on your next turn and the movement made using this veil no longer counts against your next turn’s total movement.

In addition, whenever an adjacent enemy takes a move action and uses it to move away from you, you may move up to your speed + 5 feet per point of essence invested in this veil as an immediate action. You must end this movement adjacent to the enemy that triggered this ability, or must use this movement to move directly towards that enemy if it moved further than the movement granted by this ability. This movement doesn’t provoke attacks of opportunity from the enemy that triggered this ability.

Chakra Bind (Wrists): Binding this veil to your Wrists chakra allows you to pursue your foes with greater offensive pressure. After using the ability of this veil, you may make a melee attack against the creature that triggered the ability as a free action (even if it isn’t your turn). For each point of essence invested in this veil you gain a +2 insight bonus to damage rolls with this attack, and for every odd point of essence invested you gain a +1 insight bonus to attack rolls with this attack.

Trail of Repulsion

Descriptors: Force

Class: Daevic, Guru, Helmsman, Huay, Kheshig, Stormbound

Slot: Shoulders, Chest

Saving Throw: Will (see text)

A field of repulsive force cascades from your shoulders to the ground at your feet, warping space and making the path you travel difficult to pass.

Whenever you move through a space you leave behind a field of repulsion that causes all creatures other than you to treat that space as difficult terrain until the beginning of your next turn. This difficult terrain is a force effect, affecting even incorporeal creatures and ignoring most effects that allow a creature to ignore difficult terrain (an ability that would allow you to ignore difficult terrain by warping space would ignore this, as an example).

As a free action, you can designate a single creature you can see and allow it to ignore the effects of this veil until you choose to designate another creature using this ability, or the veil is suppressed or unshaped.

Essence: For each point of essence invested in this veil you may allow an additional creature you can see to ignore the effects of this veil each time you choose to designate creatures. If you remove essence from this veil while creatures are designated, you select a number of them equal to the number of points removed to lose this benefit.

Chakra Bind (Shoulders): Binding this veil to your Shoulders chakra further amplifies the field of repulsion created by this veil. In addition to acting as difficult terrain, the first time a creature attempts to enter a space affected by this veil each turn they must make a Will saving throw. If they fail, they fail to enter the field of repulsion and cannot attempt to enter another space affected by this veil until the beginning of their next turn. A creature moved involuntarily into one of these spaces (such as by forced movement from a combat maneuver, or from falling) does not make a save and passes through the area as normal even if they had previously failed a save this round.

Chakra Bind (Chest): Binding this veil to your Chest chakra grants you all the benefits of the Shoulders chakra and causes you to continuously emit a field of repulsion around you. You gain a 5-foot radius aura, which causes all spaces within this aura to act as if they were spaces affected by this veil. For every 3 points of essence invested in this veil, the radius of this aura increases by 5 feet.

New Descriptor: Variant

Veils with the variant descriptor have similar effects to an existing veil, as noted in their description. These veils cannot be shaped at the same time as the veil they are a variant of.

Piercing Salvo [Variant]

Descriptors: Enhanced (weapon, see text), Variant

Class: Daevic, Stormbound, Nexus, Vizier

Slot: Wrists

Saving Throw: None

This veil is a variant of the Slashing Volley veil. Rather than its normal forms, the weapon it creates takes the forms of a rapier and a pistol. The veil's abilities that would normally apply to its curved blade form apply to its rapier form, and the same applies to the shortbow’s abilities and the pistol. Whenever the weapon takes the form of a pistol it is automatically loaded with mundane ammunition produced by the veil and is repaired from any misfires it suffered.

If you wish to, or if your game is not using firearm rules, you can instead have the veil produce a hand crossbow instead of a pistol. This choice must be made when you shape the veil.
