Spellweaver Expanded: Veilweaving Archetypes (Patreon)
Content
Arsenalist (Spellweaver Archetype)
Arsenalist Veilweaving: An arsenalist wields their veils as an arsenal of power, amplifying their martial prowess. They draw their abilities from the kheshig veil list, and know and can shape any veil from that list. The arsenalist uses their Wisdom as their veilweaving modifier, and has a veilweaving level equal to their class level. The saving throw DCs of the arsenalist’s veils are equal to 10 + the essence invested in the veil + the arsenalist’s veilweaving modifier.
The arsenalist can only shape a limited number of veils per day. They can shape 1 veil at 1st level, and gain the ability to shape 1 additional veil each day at 5th, 9th, 13th and 17th level.
This modifies the spellweaver’s veilweaver class feature.
Arsenal Veils: Whenever the arsenalist shapes a veil from the kheshig veil list with the [Enhanced (weapon)] descriptor, they can choose to treat that veil as an arsenal veil. Arsenal veils do not take up their chakra slot, and cannot be bound using their normal chakra slots. This ability does not allow the arsenalist to shape the same veil multiple times, but does allow them to shape veils that would normally be shaped in the same slot, along with any other veils they would normally shape in those slots.
Arsenalist Shatter: Whenever the arsenalist would shatter one of their arsenal veils, a portion of the veils power persists rather than granting the arsenalist a bonus based on its chakra slot. When the suppression caused by the shatter ends, the veils return to their normal strength.
When shattered an arsenal veil persists, leaving behind a supernatural manifestation of the veil. The arsenalist can still conjure the weapon produced by the veil, applying any enhancements applied to the veil to the weapon as normal. This functions identically to the weapon normally produced by the veil but lacks any of the veil’s other special abilities, save for any abilities that would change how it is wielded. For example: veils that increased the arsenalist’s unarmed damage would still provide that benefit but not any of the other special abilities of the veil, such as with the Mark of the Wounded Beast, and would still grant the ability to wield the falchions created by the Swirling Sirocco in one hand.
For each point of essence burned as part of shattering the arsenal veil, the arsenalist gains a +1 insight bonus to damage rolls made with the weapon produced by that veil. For every odd point of essence burned, they also gain a +1 insight bonus to attack rolls made with that weapon.
The weapons created by this ability can still be otherwise sundered or suppressed by dispel magic and other effects as if they were a normal veil, being suppressed for their normal duration. The arsenalist cannot shatter these diminished veils.
Arsenal Binding: At 2nd level, the arsenalist’s mastery over their arsenal allows them to more easily bind it for greater effect. Each day when the arsenalist shapes their veils for the day they can choose to give up one or more of their chakra binds granted by their low chakra binding, middle chakra binding, high chakra binding, or pinnacle chakra binding class features to instead gain the ability to bind one of their arsenal veils. If an arsenal veil has multiple chakras it can be shaped to, the arsenalist chooses which chakra slot they treat it as bound to when they shape the brand.
This modifies the spellweaver’s low chakra binding, middle chakra binding, high chakra binding, and pinnacle chakra binding class features.
Fighting Style: At 4th level, when the arsnealist shapes their veils each day they gain the benefits of a single fighting style available to the kheshig. They may change which fighting style they are benefitting from each day. At 10th level, and again at 16th level, they can choose to gain an additional fighting style, or gain the improved version of a fighting style that they have already selected using this ability.
This replaces the spellweaver’s bonus feats gained at 4th, 10th, and 16th level.
Disruptor (Spellweaver Archetype)
Disruptor Veilweaving: A disruptor has mastered the flow of essence through their chakra, allowing them to shape their essence directly into veils, which they draw from the guru veil list. They know and can shape any veil from this list. The disruptor uses their Wisdom as their veilweaving modifier, and has a veilweaving level equal to their class level. The saving throw DCs of the disruptor’s veils are equal to 10 + the essence invested in the veil + the disruptor’s veilweaving modifier.
The disruptor can only shape a limited number of veils per day. They can shape 1 veil at 1st level, and gain the ability to shape 1 additional veil each day at 5th, 9th, 13th and 17th level.
This modifies the spellweaver’s veilweaver class feature.
Disrupting Touch (Su): A disruptor can directly invest their essence into their body, allowing them to disrupt the souls and bodies of foes they touch. The disruptor can invest essence in this class feature; when at least 1 point of essence is invested, they gain a melee touch attack that deals a number of points of damage equal to their Wisdom modifier. They may use this touch attack in place of a melee weapon, and may utilize these attacks with two-weapon fighting, treating them as light weapons. For each point of essence invested in this ability after the first, this touch attack deals an additional 1d6 points of damage. The damage dealt by this ability is considered to be caused by a magical weapon, and deals bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage.
If the disruptor can choose to deliver these touch attacks using an unarmed strike or natural weapon as well, but doing so causes that unarmed strike or natural weapon to deal nonlethal damage.
An attack cannot be affected by both disrupting touch and the guru’s gentle touch ability at the same time.
This replaces the spellweaver’s cantrips class feature.
Chakra Disruption (Su): At 4th level, and every 3 levels thereafter, the disruptor gains the ability to disrupt a target’s flow of essence through their body, soul, and chakras. The disruptor may make a single attack using their disrupting touch as a standard action (or a single unarmed strike or natural attack affected by their disrupting touch) to apply a disruption on a successful hit. The target must make a Fortitude saving throw (DC 10 + the disruptor’s Wisdom modifier + 2 per point of essence invested in the disruptor’s disrupting touch) or suffer the effects of a chakra disruption. A single target can only suffer from the effects of a single disruption at a time. If a creature fails another saving throw against this ability, the new disruption replaces the first. Unless otherwise noted, chakra disruptions persist for a number of rounds equal to the disruptor’s Wisdom modifier.
At 4th level, the disruptor can disrupt the flow of energy in an opponent’s Hands chakra, making them clumsy and uncoordinated; the affected creature suffers a -1 penalty to all attack rolls made with their hands or equivalent limbs (for example, a dragon’s primary claw attacks). This penalty increases by 1 per point of essence invested in disrupting touch.
At 7th level the disruptor can damage the flow of essence through an enemy’s Feet chakra, slowing and hampering them. The affected creature has all of the speed of all of their modes of movement reduced by 10 feet +5 feet per point of essence invested in disrupting touch (to a minimum of 5 feet).
At 10th level, the disruptor can block the flow of energy through an enemy’s Shoulders chakra, causing their movements to become slow and predictable and too weak to properly hold a shield. The affected creature has both their shield and Dexterity bonuses to AC each lowered by 1 (to a minimum of +0). These penalties worsen by 1 per point of essence invested in disrupting touch.
At 13th level, the disruptor can sever chakra connections associated with an opponent’s Headband chakra, causing the affected creature to become blinded for 1 round + 1 round per point of essence invested in disrupting touch.
At 16th level the disruptor can almost completely block the flow of essence throughout an opponent’s Body chakra, causing them to become exhausted.
At 19th level, the disruptor can disrupt the delicate chakra connections in an opponent’s Head chakra, causing them to be stunned for 1 round.
This replaces the spellweaver’s bonus feats gained at 4th, 10th, and 16th level.
Entwined (Spellweaver Archetype)
The entwined has learned to further tap into the roots of their veilweaving, allowing them to entwine essence in the form of powerful and mystical rings.
Entwined Veilweaving: An entwined has further tapped into the powers of akasha, allowing them to shape powerful veils in the form of rings. They draw their abilities from the vizier veil list, and know and can shape any veil from that list. The entwined uses their Intelligence as their veilweaving modifier, and has a veilweaving level equal to their class level. The saving throw DCs of the enwtined’s veils are equal to 10 + the essence invested in the veil + the entwined’s veilweaving modifier.
The entwined can only shape a limited number of veils per day. They can shape 1 veil at 1st level, and gain the ability to shape 1 additional veil each day at 5th, 9th, 13th and 17th level.
This modifies the spellweaver’s veilweaving class feature.
Ring Shaper: The entwined gains access to a unique chakra slot, Ring. Whenever the entwined shatters a veil shaped in their Ring slot, the power stored within them amplifies their veils and protects them from supernatural harm. The entwined gains spell resistance equal to 10 + their class level + 1 per point of essence burned. This spell resistance only applies against harmful effects. Additionally, they select a single one of their veils or essence receptacles and treat the essence invested in it as if it were 1 higher for all purposes, though this does not change their essence total. This effective essence bypasses the entwined’s normal essence capacity, and doesn’t stack with similar abilities (such as akashic catalysts). If 4 essence was burned, it instead treats that veil as 2 higher. If 7 essence was burned, it instead treats that veil as 3 higher. The entwined can change which veil they are affecting with this ability as part of reinvesting their essence. If the entwined shatters a veil affected by this ability, this effective essence does not count as burned when determining its effects.
This replaces the spellweaver’s cantrips class feature.
Ring Binder: At 10th level, the entwined gains the ability to bind veils shaped in the Ring slot.
This replaces the spellweaver’s bonus feat gained at 10th level.
Formshaper (Spellweaver Archetype)
Skills: The formshaper adds Handle Animal and Survival to their list of class skills.
This modifies the spellweaver’s class skills.
Formshaper Veilweaving: A formshaper draws upon the natural powers of the word to channel the powers of life in the form of veils, which they draw from the huay veil list. They know and can shape any veil from this list. The formshaper uses their Wisdom as their veilweaving modifier, and has a veilweaving level equal to their class level. The saving throw DCs of the formshaper’s veils are equal to 10 + the essence invested in the veil + the formshaper’s veilweaving modifier.
The formshaper can only shape a limited number of veils per day. They can shape 1 veil at 1st level, and gain the ability to shape 1 additional veil each day at 5th, 9th, 13th and 17th level.
This modifies the spellweaver’s veilweaver class feature.
Wild Shape (Su): At 1st level, the formshaper gains the ability to change their shape once each day, as the druid’s wild shape class feature. The effects of their wild shape last for 1 hour per formshaper level. They also gain Natural Spell as a bonus feat.
At 4th level, and every 3 levels thereafter, they can use this ability an additional time each day.
At 7th level, the formshaper can take the shape of a Tiny animal or Small elemental using their wild shape. When taking the form of an animal their wild shape functions as beast shape II, when taking the form of an elemental their wild shape functions as elemental body I.
At 10th level, the formshaper can take the shape of a Huge or Diminutive animal, a Medium elemental, or a Small or Medium plant. When taking the form of animals their wild shape functions as beast shape III. When taking the form of an elemental their wild shape now functions as elemental body II. When taking the form of a plant creature their wild shape functions as plant shape I.
At 13th level, the formshaper can take the shape of a Large elemental or Large plant creature. When taking the form of an elemental their wild shape now functions as elemental body III. When taking the form of a plant creature their wild shape functions as plant shape II.
At 16th level, the formshaper can take the shape of a Huge elemental or Huge plant creature. When taking the form of an elemental their wild shape now functions as elemental body IV. When taking the form of a plant creature their wild shape functions as plant shape III.
This replaces the spellweaver’s cantrips and bonus feats class features.
Hexen (Spellweaver Archetype)
Hexen Veilweaving: A hexen draws upon the powers of nature to shape powerful hexes in the form of veils which they can use to empower themself and blight their enemies, which are drawn from the volur veil list. They know and can shape any veil from this list. The hexen uses their Charisma as their veilweaving modifier, and has a veilweaving level equal to their class level. The saving throw DCs of the hexen’s veils are equal to 10 + the essence invested in the veil + the hexen’s veilweaving modifier.
The hexen can only shape a limited number of veils per day. They can shape 1 veil at 1st level, and gain the ability to shape 1 additional veil each day at 5th, 9th, 13th and 17th level.
This modifies the spellweaver’s veilweaver class feature.
Brandshaping: Whenever the hexen shapes a brand veil using their hexen veilweaving class feature that brand does not take up their chakra slot, and cannot be bound using their chakras. This ability does not allow the hexen to shape the same brand multiple times, but does allow them to shape multiple brands that would normally be shaped in the same slot, along with any other veils they would normally shape in those slots.
Hexen Shatter (Su): Whenever the hexen shatters one of their [brand] descriptor veils, if that shattered veil had been branding a creature they can choose to apply a hexen debilitation to that creature instead of gaining the normal benefits for shattering that veil. Creatures must make a saving throw to negate the effects of a hexen debilitation, with a DC equal to the saving throw DC of the shattered brand veil. When the shattered veil’s suppression ends, the effects of a hexen debilitation applied as part of shattering it ends as well. Hexen debilitations are supernatural curses and cannot be dispelled, but can be removed early with a break enchantment, limited wish, miracle, remove curse, or wish spell. A single creature can suffer from multiple hexen debilitations of different effects. If a creature affected by a hexen debilitation is also targeted by the ability used as part of shattering the veil or are inside its affected area, they suffer a -4 penalty on their saving throw against the hexen debilitation.
When the hexen shatters their brand, they choose one of the following hexen debilitations to apply to that creature:
- Hexen Blindness: The creature must make a Fortitude saving throw or suffer from a 5% miss chance on all of their attack rolls. This miss chance does not stack with other sources of miss chance, such as concealment. This miss chance increases by 5% for each point of essence burned as part of shattering the veil.
- Hexen Cripple: The creature must make a Reflex saving throw or suffer a -5 penalty to all of their forms of movement (minimum 5 feet). This penalty worsens by -5 for each point of essence burned as part of shattering the veil.
- Hexen Weakness: The creature must make a Will saving throw or suffer a -2 penalty to an ability score of the hexen’s choice (to a minimum of 1). This penalty worsens by -1 for each point of essence burned as part of shattering the veil.
Hexen Brand Binding: At 2nd level, the hexen’s mastery over their brands allows them to more easily bind them for greater effect. Each day when the hexen shapes their veils for the day they can choose to give up one or more of their chakra binds granted by their low chakra binding, middle chakra binding, high chakra binding, or pinnacle chakra binding class features to instead gain the ability to bind one of their [brand] veils affected by their brandshaping ability. If a brand has multiple chakras it can be shaped to, the hexen chooses which chakra slot they treat it as bound to when they shape the brand.
This modifies the spellweaver’s low chakra binding, middle chakra binding, high chakra binding, and pinnacle chakra binding class features.
Mass Branding: At 4th level, the hexen can apply two of their brands as a full-round action, or as a standard action by taking 1 point of essence burn. Each of these brands must be applied to a different creature. At 10th level, and again at 16th level, the hexen can apply an additional brand with each use of this ability.
This replaces the spellweaver’s bonus feats gained at 4th and 16th level.
Twinbranding: At 10th level, the hexen can place two of their brands on a single creature at once as a full-round action, or as a standard action by taking a point of essence burn.
This replaces the spellweaver’s bonus feat gained at 10th level.
Impassioned (Spellweaver Archetype)
Impassioned Veilweaving: An impassioned channels the powers of a daevic which they have formed a bond with to channel the power of their emotions and passions in the form of veils, which they draw from the daevic veil list. They know and can shape any veil from this list. The impassioned uses their Charisma as their veilweaving modifier, and has a veilweaving level equal to their class level. The saving throw DCs of the impassioned’s veils are equal to 10 + the essence invested in the veil + the impassioned’s veilweaving modifier.
The impassioned can only shape a limited number of veils per day. They can shape 1 veil at 1st level, and gain the ability to shape 1 additional veil each day at 5th, 9th, 13th and 17th level.
This modifies the spellweaver’s veilweaver class feature.
Blood Shaper: The impassioned gains access to a unique chakra slot, Blood. Whenever the impassioned shatters a veil shaped in their Blood slot, the power surges through their body and grants them 5 temporary hit points for each point of essence burned as part of the shattering. If these temporary hit points are lost, the impassioned recovers a number of temporary hit points each minute equal to the number of points of essence burned (up to a maximum of 5 per point of essence burned).
Passion: At 1st level, the impassioned selects a single passions available to the daevic. The impassioned is treated as if they had that passion for the purposes of abilities based on their passion, such as the Daevic Aspect veil, add that passion’s veils to their veil list, and add that passions skills to their list of class skills. This does not grant any of the other abilities of the passion they select.
This replaces the spellweaver’s cantrips class feature.
Empowered Passions: At 7th level, the impassioned’s bond with their daeva improves, allowing them to unlock more potential from their passion. They treat their spellweaver level -4 as their daevic level when determining the abilities granted by their passion and the effects of those abilities. If the impassioned takes levels in the daevic class and selects the same passion, these effective levels stack when determining the abilities of their passion.
This replaces the spellweaver’s bonus feats gained at 7th, 10th, and 16th level.
Middle Chakra Bind: At 9th level, the impassioned gains access to a middle chakra bind. Each day when they shape their veils, they can choose whether they wish to bind veils to the Wrists, Shoulders or Headband slots. At 10th level, they additionally can choose between the Blood slot. At 13th level, they choose two binds rather than one.
This modifies the spellweaver’s middle chakra bind class feature.
Ordainer (Spellweaver Archetype)
Title Veilweaving: An ordainer has learned to bestow ancient titles of power upon their allies in the form of veils, which they draw from the rajah veil list. They know and can shape any veil from this list. The ordainer uses their Charisma as their veilweaving modifier, and has a veilweaving level equal to their class level. The saving throw DCs of the ordainer’s veils are equal to 10 + the essence invested in the veil + the ordainer’s veilweaving modifier.
The ordainer can only shape a limited number of veils per day. They can shape 1 veil at 1st level, and gain the ability to shape 1 additional veil each day at 5th, 9th, 13th and 17th level.
This modifies the spellweaver’s veilweaver class feature.
Entitled Shatter: Whenever the ordainer shatters a title veil, they can choose whether to grant the bonuses for shattering it to themselves or the ally they shaped the title veil on.
Empowered Titles: At 2nd level, an ordainer’s mastery over akasha enables them to bind titles for greater effects. The ordainer can bind title veils they have shaped onto their allies to the Belt, Body, Chest, Feet, Hands, Head, Headband, Neck, Shoulders, and Wrists slots, even if they cannot normally bind veils to those slots. The ordainer, however, is limited in how many titles she can have bound at once. They may only have one title bound at 2nd level, and may bind an additional title at 5th, 9th, 13th, 17th, and 20th level. This limit only applies to veils gained from the ordainer’s Title Veilweaving class feature; veils gained through feats or through another class follow their own rules.
This replaces the spellweaver’s low chakra binding, middle chakra binding, high chakra binding, and pinnacle chakra binding class features.
Command the Entitled: At 3rd level, the ordainer gains the power to command their entitled allies. As a standard action, the ordainer can command one of their entitled allies within Close range (25 feet + 5 feet per 2 veilweaver levels) of them to attack a foe of the ordained’s choosing. The entitled ally may make an attack as a free action (even if it isn’t their turn) against that target. This attack does not provoke attacks of opportunity even if it normally would (such as making a ranged attack in melee range).
The ordainer may invest essence in this ability, granting the entitled ally a bonus to that attack. They gain a +2 insight bonus to damage rolls per point of essence invested, and a +1 insight bonus to attack rolls per odd point of essence invested.
At 9th level, and again at 15th level, this ability further improves, allowing the ordainer to choose an additional ally to attack the chosen enemy.
This replaces the spellweaver’s increases to their essence capacity gained at 3rd and 15th level.
Reshaper (Spellweaver Archetype)
The reshaper has learned to radically alter the form and function of their veils after they recover from a shatter, allowing them to more easily reshape their veils as needed in exchange for a minor loss in overall potency.
Chakra Binds: At 2nd level, and every two levels thereafter, the reshaper gains the ability to bind veils directly to their chakra, unlocking potent new abilities. The reshaper gains the ability to bind chakra slots in the following order: Hands, Feet, Head, Wrists, Shoulders, Headband, Neck, Belt, Chest, Body.
This replaces the spellweaver’s low chakra binding, middle chakra binding, high chakra binding, and pinnacle chakra binding class features.
Reshape Veil: At 4th level, whenever one of the reshaper’s veils that they shattered stops being suppressed, they can choose to instead unshape it and immediately shape a veil of the same chakra. If the newly shaped veil can be shaped in multiple chakra slots it must be shaped in the same slot the original was shaped in. The veil shaped using this ability cannot be bound to a chakra until the reshaper spends 1 hour in meditation. If the reshape has multiple unbound veils shaped using this ability at once, they may bind any number of them during this time.
This replaces the spellweaver’s bonus feat gained at 4th level.
Broad Reshape: At 7th level, the reshaper can shape a reshaped veil in the same tier of chakra slot, rather than only the same chakra slot. The tiers, and the chakra slots within each tier, are defined as the following:
Low: Hands, Feet, Head.
Middle: Wrists, Shoulders, Headband
High: Neck, Belt
Pinnacle: Chest, Body.
For example: if the reshaper chooses to reshape a veil they had shaped in their Hands chakra, they could choose to shape a veil in their Feet or Head chakra in addition to the Hands slot.
This replaces the spellweaver’s bonus feat gained at 7th level.
Binding Reshape: At 13th level, reshaped veils are bound as part of the reshaping process if the reshaper has the ability to bind veils to the chakra it was shaped into.
This replaces the spellweaver’s bonus feat gained at 13th level.
Perfect Reshape: At 19th level, the reshaper can shape a newly reshaped veil into any of their chakra slots no matter the slot of the base veil.
This replaces the spellweaver’s bonus feat gained at 19th level.
