Hey folks!! I'm back with a new main-channel video, and a sequel to my 2010s one hit wonders video from last month. Or I guess it's a prequel? A pre-sequel? Whatever, we're looking at the 2000s!

Putting this list together was tricky - I expected more OHWs than the 2010s, but I wasn't ready for how MANY there would be. But it was a lot of fun, and I came away with some wild stories and examples of OHWs. (Yes I know Gorillaz are in the thumbnail, I answer why in the video)

As always, this video is out now on here and Nebula, and it'll be out tomorrow. Also if you wanna listen to these songs, I've got a playlist below.

Dear Michael T Snare, as someone quite a bit older than you. You never outgrow cartoons, go watch Steven Universe. It's fantastic. And so is the soundtrack.

Michael Madani

I think Crazy should’ve been in the top 10 at least. Also a friend showed me Drive by incubus so that song has a special place in my heart

MacKenzie

My favorite part of this video was when you got to the bottom 10, and #10 started playing and I involuntarily said "Oh God" out loud while sighing. This made up for us having opposite feelings about the interpolation of children's songs and being taken back to the early 2000s by butt rock.

PHOENIX IS ONLINE

every time you include a Real Time Fandub reference in a video, i smile real big & wide 😊

Charlie Latino

I know he’s cancelled now, that video of Brad Taste in Music reacting to Pop Champagne was so goddamn funny

Kamina in a Kamui

ALIEN ANT FARM MENTIONED WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Their cover of SC and the Ataris cover of TBoS are two covers I will always believe outclass the originals, glad to see some love for both. And I get that Headstrong is trashy, but damn if it isn't catchy as hell.

aproperkatie

Great video as always (though I will correct you and say DJ Sammy's Heaven is actually a cover of a Bryan Adams song). Unrelated to the video, but without getting too deep into it, you releasing a DDD all about Stevie Wonder, and a video just tangentially related to The Amazing Digital Circus is some insane cosmic timing on your part.

Vincent Mashups

SIRIUSXM’S POP2K STATION MENTIONED ‼️‼️‼️‼️

The Hand Of The People

another masterpiece, but God- I will die on the hill that The Ataris should've been disqualified from the best list just for the fact that they're called "The Ataris." If a band of late 20somethings came on at a bar and said "hi we're The Segas" they would be rightfully booed offstage

Duke86fan

“Jet only remembered for one song” And one monkey That and the number 2 and number 1s both scream “so bad it’s great”

Adam Stutsman

Oh dude, this was such a treat to watch. I had a stupid grin on my face almost the whole time. (And yeah, hey, watch Steven Universe. It’s excellent.)

Turstman

It's amazing to me that BYOB is SOTD's one hit and not Chop Suey or Toxicity, I feel like I hear them much more these days

Matt

The fact that Clint Eastwood was not a top 40 hit blows my mind.

Halcyon

I’m a little sad that “Chasing Cars” is in the bottom 10 (especially over “You’re Beautiful” which I straight up hate, though that’s probably because I take the lyrics more seriously). I have a real soft spot for it and I don’t know why.

Noah

so is that old job the origin of the "Sirius XM: Burn it" bit from the metal video? That might be my favorite bit you've ever done

Kiro

mic!!!! i'm like 90% sure the 2D you use in the thumbnail is fanart!!!!

Oisín Quinn

Good video! If anyone else is a fan of All The Things She Said by t.A.T.u, I _highly_ recommend watching this video by Null Electronics breaking down the group. Their story, and the person behind them, is actually insane: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M5rnQ9xngn0

MysteryMii

Hey Mic, just wanted to chime in that when you make the 90s version of this video, for the “No” category, you’re going to want to include a part explaining how labels basically abandoning proper single releases in order to force you to buy the album during that time period is the reason why a lot of that category is like that. There was some of that here, but it basically became a thing of the past once digital downloads came onto the scene in the middle of the decade.
