For Streets Want You Back, the melody it immediately brought me to was N.A.M.E by him "you dont knowww my nameee". Referencing himself would be insane 😂 Wonder if thats what you were getting picking up too lol but love the reaction as always! The things is I also share Prince’s hypothesis. Before Tory was “put on” or became noticeably through his earlier mixtapes and later breakthrough album “I told you” he was a sort of a “ghostwriter” or a mf that would make reference tracks for mega stars. This is specifically the reason why him and Travis Scott got into it because Tory stood ten toes and refused to take the truth he revealed that one of the verses Travis delivered was originally written and recorded by Tory and the flow, style and sound used in that very verse was what Travis later incorporated into his sound. So when when people say Tory sound Travis is some songs, it’s actually Tory Lanez original flow which Travis incorporated. So if that’s the case the same might apply with Drake because let’s not forget Tory admitted once (and I might be wrong) that he used to send Drake mad songs to collab but Drake would ghost him. I personally suspect (Due to Drake’s tendency to borrow from other artists and genre) he listened to the songs Tory sent but instead of adding a verse he wound jack the flow and song and add his own vibez to it. That why Tory references Drake as sign of paying homage and additional signaling to Drake personally and to the rest of the industry that “I can easily hop on any lane, be it Rapping or Singing, HipHop or RnB and execute it with elite skill using in flow or style possible better if not complimentary to the original and or copy” and this the exact reason Tory is one of the goats imo. He is one of if the most noticeable versatile Artists of our generation.
