Writing experiment, playing around with one of my weirder ideas. This is unrelated to WYLAMG or anything else really.

High-tech space-faring succubi in a dystopian future grow aliens from templates (not that kind of template) sold to them by harvesters to participate in a sex and blood reality game show. Little Hunger Games, touch of the Running Man, dash of sexy harem, and a ... SILENT protagonist? Holy Shit, Ceb has lost it.

I have no idea if I'll do anything serious with this, but it grabbed the imagination by the short-hairs so I typed up a few chapters to get a feel for what it'd be like to actually try and make a silent protagonist work because honestly I can't think of another book that's done it. (That might be because it's a really shitty idea.)

I think this is the result of my losing so much sleep trying to adjust my schedule for proper puppy care that I've become a bit delusional ... because even *I* think this is silly ... but whatever. Mask of the Template started the same fckin' way. :P

On a completely unrelated note I have Move Your Dead Bones stuck in my head. (Oh my GOD I am tired.)

If you read it, let me know what you think.

Can you only view dropbox on a computer?

quite enjoyed this, though I've enjoyed everything you have written. I think a silent protagonist isn't an inherently silly idea, just might be trickier to write.

Well Ceb, the story has a good hook to get me interested. I am quite certain most of those on the Discord channel would want more as well. The Space Alien version of "The Running Man" sounds a bit familiar however. I can't recall where I read something that was similar, but it surely wasn't R or X rated. It sounds like the cutthroat "Corporate Politics" angle has possibilities if we assume the Succubus is Mauren, who will now have her own axe to grind against Director Lane. The "Silent" Protagonist isn't much different than most First Person Story narration because the Reader is fully aware of the protagonist's thoughts and being non-verbal to other characters only means that all of the usual interactive character dialog becomes the protagonist's thought processes with no need to write his "quoted" interactive dialog since the only Actual "dialog" occurs off-screen when the protagonist is not in the scene. So to carry the Silent Protagonist forward, you must have the character be far more of a narrator than a character who interacts with others. This obviously creates problems when you WANT the protagonist to somehow interact with others and barring Telepathy, at some point your protagonist will have to have actual dialog!

I wanted to read more, I thought it was interesting.

Sure, it’s a silly premise and may need some tweaking to make into a full length story, but color me intrigued! You’ve certainly grown as a writer and I have faith you could pull this off if you have the drive to do so. Regardless, thanks for giving us a little taste! I look forward to seeing more from whatever you bring us. 🙂

Stop making so many different amazing stories! I want more TAP but now I want more of this! You better start cloning yourself so you can write more.
