Hi everyone,

I hope this message finds you busy working on your latest creative adventure!

Today, I am excited to share something very special: the diversity and charm of some of your creative spaces.

I've just uploaded a brand new video on YouTube titled ‘A Studio Tour + Student Art Spaces Revealed’. It’s all about the places where our creativity takes place.

I've included footage of the unique and inspiring painting spaces of some of you, my amazing patrons. Your willingness to share has made this video special, and I believe it will resonate with many, reminding us all that the essence of creativity is not confined by space. Thank you very much to those patrons who shared their painting spaces with us.

Whether you're nestled in a snug corner or blessed with a studio, this video will show you that all you truly need is a bit of space to let your imagination soar. I also take you on a quick personal journey from my humble beginnings in a cramped corner of our tiny Sydney apartment to the studio I am grateful for today.

So, if you're curious to see the magic behind where our art comes to life, or if you're seeking inspiration for your own little nook of creativity, I invite you to watch the video here: https://youtu.be/4ctaCCsilBI

It's not about having the perfect space; it's about making space for your passion.

Enjoy your weekend!

Louise

Tam

This is wonderful. Lots of great ideas to think about.

Loved this video - as I am about to renovate a room purely for my art work it has given me sooo many ideas. Thank you to everyone who shared their private studios

Sandra York

This was fun to watch! My painting space is currently a desk inside a standard closet in my home office. I already need to add shelving. We all start somewhere. :) I’m grateful for that tiny space.

Superb video....thanks to all who shared their studios.....Has given me so many ideas for organising my stuff .....all I need now is the studio!....I am still having to put things away at the moment, but certainly there are a lot of great ideas on how best to even manage that.....Many Thanks!

I have a desk in the master bedroom. It works for now. Loved the video. That was a good idea!

Loved this video. Would also love to see some of your students paintings if they were willing to share 😊 Begreat inspiration.

Linda

Loved everyone’s set ups. Great idea, Louise. 👍🏻

Louise De Masi

Thank you Tam - they have great ideas for storage and organisation.

Louise De Masi

That's all you need to begin with. All I had to store things in when I was in Sydney was a small set of drawers. Everything else was leaning against the wall. Thanks Sandra.

Thank you Jane. Students are sharing their work in the Facebook group- they have albums dedicated to each tutorial. They also share them in Discord and on the Patreon app chat.

Jane Talbot

Oh thank you. I hadn’t joined the Facebook group but will do so now 😃

I'm a little late in the comments (painting my hallway, not the kind of painting I like to do :( sadly) but I just commented on this video on YouTube, also late, and it was a long one (really? From ME?) so I'm just going to be lazy and copy+paste here. I'm old, I get to be lazy. If any of you use Hahnemuhle "Collection" watercolor paper, you may be interested in the comment I make at the end about their new version of that paper.I have 3 things to say (I'm a bit late, so I'll repost on Patreon): 1: LOVE your hair, Louise!! So flattering :) 2) VERY glad I did not submit a video of my "studio," as it looks like Fred Sanford's house and yard compared to these examples. If you're not familiar with "Sanford and Son" from the 1970's, think of the kind of "home junkyard" your neighbors would complain to your municipal authorities about. MY so-called "studio" is a roughly 8-foot-square area where my old "office area" was when I worked at home as a court reporter, and it was disastrous then, so as a creative watercolor painting area now? Gee, I guess you could describe it best as resembling a bombed-out crater, maybe, with paint tubes, brushes, paper and Amazon boxes strewn about waiting for me to DO SOMETHING to them. It's a corner of my bedroom, essentially, and until my son graduates college next year, it will continue that way. Sigh. So let me dry up my tears and move on to my third point here: Please tell everyone who sent in their videos (special mention: Susi) that they are now the envy of everyone who watched this video! We all gathered much inspiration and truly appreciate your sharing your tips and stylish setups. When I DO have a proper studio I intend to refer back to this video for ideas. But Susi, OMG, those wood items in her studio! Those paints, the sheer number is more than my local art supply store! And did I see Hahnemuhle "Collection" paper just stacked up by the gross? ATTENTION WATERCOLOR ARTISTS: Do you know they quit making the GOOD version of that beautifully textured paper? If you have some you bought a while back and you don't know whether it's a "good" or "bad" batch, look on the back of your paper pad/block, and if the control number starts with "M2R," you got a "bad" new batch, made with their new felt supplier, which they claim made no marked difference in the paper, but which MANY of their customers agree makes the new texture completely suck. It may not make a difference to some people, but it did for me, and I cut my current pages (the new version) into swatch cards. Well, as usual, I wandered completely off the subject and forgot what video I just watched -- oh, yeah -- Louise! Great video, so sorry once again -- lol!!!!

No worries about being late Vickie - your message is full of life and laughter! First off, thank you for the compliment on my hair. I needed a change! Your description of your studio space is relatable ….lol….many of us cherish our own creative chaos. Thank you for the heads-up on the Hahnemuhle watercolour paper. I appreciate your humour and honesty. 🥰

And I appreciate your taking a 26-minute break from your tremendously busy day to read my comment! -_-

Good after noon Louise, I have a question... I teach a Drawing and painting class at our church, and would like to be able to demo art work and show it up on a screen(TV). It is difficult to (especially water color) hold up and demo. Any Ideas? What do you use? Help :) Blessings, Janice

Louise De Masi

Hi Janice - I don't do any face to face teaching to large groups so I have no advice to give you I'm sorry. I imagine you'd need a magic arm over your work to hold your camera or phone while you were painitng plus a computer and screen.
