Hi all,

Well done to everyone who participated in last month's zebra challenge! The results were incredible, and it’s great to see so many of you embracing these exercises and pushing your skills further.

This month, we’re switching it up with something a bit softer: freesias. These delicate flowers are a fantastic subject for practising soft edges and subtle colour transitions. Pay close attention to the light and how it interacts with the petals - this will help create a lovely sense of depth. I haven’t drawn the cast shadow on the wall but it might be an interesting inclusion if you want to add it to your painting. I would keep the shadow pale though so you don’t take attention away from the blooms.

Remember, there’s no pressure for perfection; the goal is to grow and experiment. Share your freesia paintings in our Patreon chat or in the Facebook and Discord groups. I can’t wait to see what you all create!

The line drawing and reference photo for the freesias are attached below. Have fun, and happy painting!

I'm going to try this challenge, but I'm rather hopeless at painting flowers!

How long are the challenges run? Can I post anytime during Oct?
