Surgery Round Two (Patreon)
Content
Hi everyone,
I wanted to give you a quick update, as I’ve had a few kind messages asking how my wrist is going - thank you, it really means a lot.
Unfortunately, the healing hasn’t gone as smoothly as we hoped after my original surgery in January. I’ve been dealing with ongoing pain, mobility and nerve issues, and it turns out the plate in my wrist is part of the problem. I found a really good hand/microsurgeon so I’m heading to Newcastle today (5 hour drive south), for a second surgery tomorrow to remove the plate, release and sheath the median nerve, and clean up scar tissue and cartilage tears.
This won’t be the last step unfortunately - a third surgery will be needed to fully reconstruct the wrist - but this one should hopefully relieve some of the worst symptoms and give me a bit more mobility and comfort 🤞🏻.
The only silver lining is that it’s not my painting hand, so I’ve still been able to work. I’ll be heading home on Thursday, 29 May, and all going well, I hope to be back in the studio by Friday, 30 May.
If you send me any messages or painting questions while I’m away, I’ll reply once I’m back home and settled.
Thanks again for your support - I’ll keep you posted.
