Do I need to be good at watercolour to join? (Patreon)
Content
Short answer: no.
A lot of people feel they should “get better first” before joining Patreon, but this space is actually where that improvement happens.
The tutorials are taught step by step, in real time, with clear verbal guidance throughout. You can paint along, pause, rewind, and take things at your own pace. Nothing assumes you already know what you’re doing.
What if the paintings look too difficult?
That’s a very common feeling. A finished watercolour can look much more complicated than the process actually feels when it’s broken down properly.
In the tutorials, Louise doesn’t just show you what to paint. She explains what to focus on, how wet your paper and brush should be, when to let an area dry, what can be simplified and what to do if the paint isn’t behaving as expected.
So you’re not expected to work everything out yourself. You only need to concentrate on the next step.
You also don’t need to work through everything. Tutorials are organised into Collections, so you can start in the right place and focus on what will help you most right now.
Where should I start?
If you’re new to watercolour or feeling unsure, start here:
Super Newbies Collection – for absolute beginners and confidence-building
Beginner Collection – for learning core techniques and painting step by step
You’re welcome to explore as a free member first. When you’re ready to follow Louise through the full tutorials, the Brush Marks tier gives you access to the complete library.
If you’d love to paint more confidently but don’t always know what to do next, then you’re ready.
If this sounds like the kind of support you’ve been looking for, the Brush Marks tier gives you full access to the tutorial library and is where most members start.
