Louise, I so love your tutorials. I feel like I've made significant progress using them. Thank you so much for all the detail you provide -- what you're doing, the progress photos, etc. You are a fabulous teacher and so gifted! Very grateful.

Louise De Masi

Thank you very much Sandy. I’m so pleased to hear you’ve made good progress. Comments like yours make all the time and effort that goes into creating the tutorials worthwhile. Thank you for your kind words and for being part of our community. 🌸

I can't tell you how much I appreciate these videos you make for us. I know it takes a lot of time and effort for you to make this so easy for us to attempt. For an artist of your caliber to take the time for this is amazing. I adore your work and love your videos!

Louise De Masi

That's very sweet of you! Thank you Karen for your lovely message. 😘

Kris Briedé

This is another lovely tutorial. Look forward to painting it!

So happy to be a part of your tutorials . I am a retired 63 yr old who by profession was a registered nurse in Georgia, USA

Noemi

Just printed the instructions. I have a few of your tutorials I need to tackle first but this will be, I am sure, another enlightening lesson to learn. Thank you so much for sharing it.

Louise De Masi

Thanks Noemi. Let me know if I can help with anything.

Louise De Masi

Thank you Beverly, I'm happy you are here! My older son wants to study nursing next year at university. 💜

Hi I’m new on here. Is it possible to print your drawings from tutorials?

Allison

In the first video for this tutorial, there is the line drawing file listed in the attachments.

Kate Paluch

I am in the US, trying to print the line drawing and it will not print right? I get a very large edge of some petals and that’s it. Can anyone help?

Julie Monk

Hi Louise - I am trying this hydrangea tutorial and my DS Ultramarine tube paint feels almost greasy when I use it. It doesn’t want to flow into the wet paper (Arches not) Am I doing something wrong?

Louise De Masi

I've no idea Julie. DS Utramarine Blue is an excellent product so it shouldn't be misbehaving. Has it done that before?

Julie Monk

I’m new to watercolours so my DS Ultramarine violet paint is new. The small blob I used first seemed fine but I put a larger amount on my palette yesterday and it was reluctant to stick to the brush even and left ‘greasy’ swirl marks on the palette and it looks terrible on the paper. Could it be the gum Arabic? It’s so expensive too!

Louise De Masi

Yes it most likely is the gum arabic Julie. Put the lid on it tight and give it a squish with your fingers gently to try and mix it back together. It's probably seperated in the tube. Even try shaking it for a while. It has happened to me on occasions with different paints. I squirt the paint out and a yellowy runny liquid comes out with the paint. So I screw the lid back on and give it a squish and a shake for a while.

Louise De Masi

I've read on the internet that some people get a tooth pick and try and mix it in the tube with that. You could try that too.

Julie Monk

Thank you Louise, I will try that 👍 and while I’m here, I love your work, you are the best tutor, thank you.

Cameron Hartley

I hope that my posts on other projects (tutorials) are viewable as a string to you. Much of my posts are somewhat or mostly related to past posts. I'm really enjoying your work, it is a style I'd like to emulate. Not a flower guy, but I've begun the Hydrangea this week. I'm on my second effort because I have to overcome my use of darker washes. Thanks again for sharing your skills with us.

Louise De Masi

My pleasure Cameron and thank you. Sometimes I need darker washes if I don't plan on putting other layers over the top but when I want to add more detail I paint lighter washes on first and then I build on top of them with darker colour values.

Renee Howard Cassese

I love how detailed and helpful your instructions are. I used masking fluid to preserve the whites on the petals. So for part 2 I would remove it? Thanks so much. Stay well.

Una Baralo

Kate did you work it out /? I am happy to help you

Nancy Gosnell

My absolute favourite! Very time-consuming but results are beautiful!

Hi Louise, i love your work. My question is, i am using Canson paper 140lb cold press and my problem is when i wet the paper and apply the first coat of the violet , when i go back while the paper is still wet and apply the ultramarine blue it doesn't spread like yours. Do you think is the paper the problem? I know the Archer paper doesn't dry so fist , it staying wet a little longer then other papers. Maybe you comment will clear a lot of things for me. Thanks

Louise De Masi

Hi Theodosios, thank you! I'm not sure if the paper you are using is 100% cotton but yes I'd say it is more than likely your paper. You need 100% cotton paper. It doesn't have to be Arches. There are less expensive 100% cotton papers. Saunders Waterford is a suggestion also Baohong - The Master's Choice is another that I have used that is quite good.
